Hi, Im a beginner in photography and I just got my D5100 a month ago. I'm looking to buy a zoom lens as my 2nd lens probably a few months from now, depending on my financial situation
So I have found two zoom lens that fit my budget which is less than 1k.

1) Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Tele Zoom Lens
2) Nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G AF-S DX NIKKOR ED VR Zoom Lens

So far the only major difference is the Macro ability on the Sigma and VR on the Nikon. Beside Nikon having the focal range from 55-70. Any ideas?

Hi, after using my DSLR for 2 months, I'm looking for a 2nd lens. During those two months, I realised 80% of my shots are in between 18-50mm using my kit lens. 20% of the time I want to zoom further maybe up to 200mm, more is fine. So should I choose a 55-200/300mm lens or a 18-200mm lens?

P.S Is it recommended if i get a prime lens? 35mm or 50mm, 50mm seems to be cheaper.

Thanks for the suggestions, I had those two lens in mind except I was aiming for the 55-300mm since the price difference is Rm100 or less. Now I'm not too sure which is more suited for me , 35mm or 50mm. I know the 15mm difference is small and can be solved by moving back/front a step or two. So to those who owned both/experienced prime lens user, which is better?
