Well I m no sifu, if u compare between D5100 and D90, I suggest u get the D5100 cause it's has better ISO and has the same sensor as D7000. It can record full HD video too. im new to photography and keen on buying Nikon camera.

Maybe the D90 has superior built quality and a separate mono LCD for viewing the setting and more dedicated button to access to the setting. Also the D90 has a motor on the body.
