Objective: throw the stock Maxis wireless router out. The Huawei fiber modem is TM provided.
I've got an Asus AC86U that DOES NOT support VLAN profile, so cannot work without the stock Maxis wireless router.
Question: Which Mikrotik access point should I get? Cheapest possible and STABLE, I don't need WiFi on it. I just need it to provide access and let the AC86U do rest of the work.
I am guessing I should get the RB750r2 as the best bang for the buck?

QUOTE(soonwai @ Jun 25 2019, 01:23 PM) Feature wise, they're all the same. At least 2 things will factor into which model to get. Gbe or FE ports and the speed of your Maxis Fibre (ie: what routing speed do you need). Currently using 30mbps maxis fibre. future may go to 100mbps. which model can you recommend? I am confused by the models. Further reading seems to indicate that RB750Gr3 may be more suited for my usage.

QUOTE(soonwai @ Jun 26 2019, 01:56 PM) I had a quick read at what you intend to in your other thread. Not sure I understood it all but it seems you only need VLAN switching. If that's the case, you just need a managed switch. A cheap Mikrotik router will also do. Not sure which will be cheaper. Maybe get a used RB750GL or something like that. Need it to do the PPPoE for Maxis. Not very good for the terminologies

QUOTE(MX510 @ Jun 26 2019, 09:36 AM) Any other alternatives? As I don’t need the WiFi. Or such a WiFi-less version doesn’t exist in this day and age.
