QUOTE(anfieldude @ Feb 28 2012, 08:25 AM) Not based on the calibrations I hv done in Malaysia. Also each set is different so beware. last time i used True Cinema. compare with Pro1 & 2, izzt True Cinema picture quality the same if both setting same? i put a down light on top of my Plasma with 6500k bulb. should use gamma 2.4 also?If u do not want to calibrate ur set, I would suggest to use the Pro mode, set brightness with a test pattern (typically shd be 0, anything more would cause excessive dithering near black). Contrast shd be about 50 for day mode, about 70 for night mode. Desaturate colour slightly to below 50 ~ 48. That shd be better than using the settings here. Do not touch greyscale/white balance as u r bound to make it worse if there is no meter. Also leave the CMS untouched. Select gamma of 2.4 for dark room and 2.2 or 2.0 for a bright room. I would suggest getting this set calibrated properly either urself or by someone who has the proper meters/experience as its a fine set and shd be calibrated. thx |

QUOTE(eye @ Aug 10 2012, 08:42 PM) happy dog, im Envy!! Hope to get 55VT50 at least soonlooking fwd to its calibration after burn-in. interestingly, hdmi2 has audio return channel capability, it can send digital audio out via an hdmi cable. thus, one can connect a new 3d bd player direct to the tv and use hdmi2 audio out to an older generation amp to play lossless codecs, nice. QUOTE(allycat @ Aug 11 2012, 09:59 PM) First I'm not an expert, and believe that you mean the PQ of the PTV. Here I can only share some of my recent frustrating experiences when watching Byond and ori BDs on my current ST50. And also comparing with my previous V20. I didn't get the smooth motion handling. When the character moves, there were skipping or jerkiness or slow-mo. It happemed with the moving characters in both foreground and background. And then the foreground may be okay but the background characters were moving jerkily or slow-mo. This was very evident when I was watching dance shows. Also, I saw that the end credits were not rolling smoothly There was dithering when the characters faces turn. This was solved after Pana changed the video board. I'm still not that happy with the sharpness of the characters faces but I think this is the limitation of the ST50 and not a problem. I hope you don't see my set's defects in yours. If you, then it's time to call Pana. For really expert tips, I think real experts or longer users of PTV will be able to tell more of what to look out for. My current PTV also V20. how long u been using? will try to check wat u have explain. |
