that's what was confusing. a) they didn't have stock at Harvey Norman, b) they didn't know when they'd be getting stock and c) when i reconfirmed the price for ST50 model, that's how much he told me :s maybe he checked the P55ST50 or P60ST50.

As for Jusco, they had it for 4999 with RM500 cash voucher for 26th to 28th April I think it was for some special AEON day. Regular list price was RM5099. Also, they take 2 weeks after you make the full payment to deliver! =|

Jusco mid valley also have display units on sale for very good prices though..42VT30 and there were a couple of ST30s I think as well.

Harvey Norman at Mid Valley didn't seem to be very interested in selling the TV - they gave me the price for GT when I asked for ST and didn't have stock either.

I've been using the P50ST50K for over a week now and I have to say, it's fantastic. Picture Quality is nothing short of amazing and everyone around the internet seems to think that the premium for the GT/VT for the ST isn't worth it simply for the THX mode and the extra steps of gradation. I personally feel this is the best value for the most amazing quality.

However, everyone has their own opinion. For me the most important thing was Full HD - I was considering the P50UT50 before, but the infinite black panel on the ST just convinced me, plus there was only RM300 difference in price. Kind of a no-brainer. There's a slight reflection issue when the curtains are open in bright sunlight and you're watching blacks on screen, but nothing that would remotely be a dealbreaker. This is my first plasma and coming from mostly LCDs, I'm extremely satisfied with the purchase.

Anyone considering buying a plasma, I would whole-heartedly recommend the ST50. 100% worth the price.

These are LEDs - i would have to recommend the sharp or samsung if you want LCDs.

As for the ST50 v/s VT20 and VT30, I can safely say after all the research that with last year's models (VT30), there were a number of problems with the display panels themselves, some of which were Image Retention (IR), blue/yellow/green shades/lines on the panel amongst others. So yes, you would be much better off buying this year's technology compared to last years' of even the year before that.

If nothing, the most notable improvement is in 3D, and even if that isn't a factor, the thinness, bezel, power consumption have all been (even if slightly) improved in the '50' models.

As for the P65ST50K, it seems to be going for anything between USD2300 to USD2700. Judging by that and the price difference from the US, my guess would be safely above the region of RM10k.

The P50ST50 is the best value buy you can get. It was out earlier and price has probably had time to settle. This is the same reason I didn't go for the UT50 model. RM500 difference nets you infinite black panel - definitely worth it and definitely better to have bigger screen!

Guys, I'm in the market for a plasma set with a budget of 4K. I'm leaning towards TH-P50ST50 as quoted by iamsobloodysick but I am not sure if I should just opt for an older or cheaper model like P50S30 if I can find it and save some money for something else. I am not really keen on 3D features but it seems all new models nowadays includes that feature. Are there any other options at shops around KL/PJ area? Maybe if there are other options I can stretch the budget slightly higher.

In an earlier post I answered this same question - the ST30 series, whilst providing good performance, had a number of issues, mostly related to IR (Image Retention) and green/yellow tint on the screen. Having spent a few months researching exactly which model to get, I will safely and whole-heartedly recommend the ST50 - 50, 55 or 65 inch variants. Hands down the best value for money you can currently get for a plasma. Heck, best value for money for a TV. Period.
