will be activating IPTV from Unifi tonight.

Anyone can help me in knowing how to find usage hours for LCD or is it same as that of PLASMA?

Just got my P42U30K deliver yesterday. Saw twe more new sets on the delivery lorry. 

Brader, I bought mine from a Panashop. BTW, I'm from Ipoh. Still fiddling with setting of the tv. Tested out Bug life and Ratatouie. It look fantastic.

Why don't wait for U50 or even better UT50 since it is May/June?

well even last years the 42u was hard to find.and if youre waiting till may/june might as well go for ut series since panny has already released new models.the ut series will have lower price now compared to back then.by low i dont mean dirt cheap but it will defo the worth the wait.

i bought my 42u last year after searching 2 weeks(tho i did do reaserche months before and decided for that model for quite some time) and got lucky one shop still had them.

nah i didnt buy at pana shop(btw whats pana shop anyway?) been enjoying it ever since.tho mostly playing games only since i dont have beyond nor bd player.and i havent got that speedy internet to dl real hd content to be played on the tv

You are right about the order.

From what I learned in this thread and others:

- turn down various the settings (brightness, contrast, color saturations) for the first few hundred hours or so
- exercise every individual pixels of the entire plasma screen. This means full screen and no black bars. You can use the slide show to accelerate the process. The idea is that every pixel across the screen is used evenly as much as possible.
- once this is done, the characteristics of your plasma screen should not change drastically, theoretically speaking. This is when you perform calibration and achieve settings that is consistent for some time.
- do note that each plasma screen has it's own characteristics and optimal settings may differ even though they are the same brand and model. There are various settings available in the internet for the models. You can try them out and see if you like them.

My plasma was calibrated by LYN forumer anfieldude. No regrets.
