plasma do generate more heat compared to LED, but in a spacious area like living room, the generated heat is negligible, and you won't feel it at all
unless you're talking about a small confined room with no air circulation then it's a diff story

if it's mainly for Astro viewing, then a HD ready plasma is good enough, as plasma display the SD channels better than LED, and Astro's HD channels are only in either 720p or 1080i, so HD ready is good enough
