QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jul 1 2012, 03:54 PM) Thanks. So G is higher spec than S. But Anti-reflection coating are the same. Is there a lot of price differences between the 2? I am thinking of at least a 55" or bigger. I don't mind 2011 model Both the GT50 and ST50 are new 2012 models.... price diff is quite a lot, not very the worth comparing the PQof both models, even if its RM1000, for me la... ST is budget, GT is mid ranged, VT is top range... in price and in features n settings.... |

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jul 1 2012, 05:45 PM) i.c. AFAIK, only the latest 2012 models comes with the new anti-reflective coating... and only ST, GT and VT have them...So which 2011 model has one of the better anti-reflective coating. Looking for 55" and above. Thanks. I advice you to look at the screen and decide... the reflection is still very obvious esp if your TV is in a bright room or next to a large window or sliding door (esp if you are staying in a condo)... do note that any light source directly opposite the screen will be reflected.... You can try AEON Mid Valley, they have XT50 and ST50 side by side on display, so you can see the immediate difference the new anti reflective coating makes on the PQ... which is a lot to my eyes... EDIT: its XT50 and not VT... sorry... This post has been edited by Poadster: Jul 1 2012, 07:03 PM |

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jul 1 2012, 07:18 PM) haha. May be I am cheap skate and go for clearance sales product. Would you say this 2012 ST50 is as good as 2012's VT? And how about price wise? Thanks ST50 will never be as good as the VT50.... but price wise you are getting very good value for the asking price of ST50.... you cant beat the 3999 (50in) or the 5XXX (55in) of the ST50, esp its a built in wifi and 3D model....I have personally viewed the ST30 and ST50 side by side.... the ST50 wins it in all aspects (color, black level, infinite black filter) and most importantly, price.... some outlets are still selling the ST30 at the same price as the ST50 as sold outside (3999).... Still, your money, your decision.... |

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jul 1 2012, 07:34 PM) Opps. Sorry. Wrong typo. Read chungf1's reasons why the ST50 is leaps and bounds better than the ST30... and yes, the 2012 ST50 is much better than the ST30... not the other way around...I meant, would 2012 ST50 be as good as 2011 VT30? And you mean the 2012 55" ST50 is RM3999? 3999 applies to P50ST50, the 50incher... Am curious, how much lower can you get the ST30?? |

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jul 1 2012, 07:53 PM) Sorry, my mistake... I cant compare them as I have never seen the VT30 in action, nor have the opportunity to compare them side by side... But.... if you can believe online reviews.... this writer reviewer have commented that the ST50 PQ is better than the VT30.... read it yourself.... |

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jul 1 2012, 08:02 PM) I have seen UT50 and ST50 side by side.... UT50 dont have the Infinite Black panel (anti reflection and a louver design) as have the ST50, and the reflection is pretty bad on the UT50... bearing in mind the specs of both model is very close.... I would gues the VT30 dont have Infinite Black panel (as this is a new 2012 panel feature)... so the reflection could be as per the UT50..... my uneducated guess... You can try to view the ST50, beside the UT50, at AEON Mid Valley... then you tell us of the diff based on your perspective... On the issue of upscaling, there is nothing much the panel can do to improve details that are not there in the original source.... SD source will NEVER be upscaled to HD look by any TV or media player.... the best way to view these panels are using native HD or Full HD source.... Added on July 1, 2012, 8:16 pmOh... if your majority source are SD (TV, normal Astro), getting a smaller plasma (50in) will be better.... the bigger the panel, the lousier the SD pic will look.... QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jul 1 2012, 08:37 PM) That depends if you are getting signals from Measat or Thaicom... If Thaicom, then the bigger panel with HD transmissions will be best... but then, if mainly SD, i still stand firm in the believe that no amount of processing and upscaling will improve the non existant details in the SD source... |

QUOTE(Kelapa Tua @ Jul 1 2012, 11:30 PM) Hi Poadster and others, Seriouly, I donno.... gotta ask Panasonic for that.... Any idea what the 'K' at the end of the model number represents, e.g. 20K, 30K and this year 50K. The Panasonic catalogue for 2012 does not have the model number ending in a 'K', but merely TH-P65VT50; TH-P50GT50; TH-P65ST50 and so on. Why? Hope 'K' is not 'kurang' meant for 3rd world countries. By the way I hope members of this forum would continue to post the price they have seen for the P65ST50 to help us to find a good buy. The specs of the TV are the same, so prolly its to identify the market the TV is being sold in... K for Kurang... |

QUOTE(weikee @ Jul 3 2012, 10:38 AM) 9% more is not much difference? You ask them if pay without installment how much? Usually installment they factor in the interest. This all depends on the merchant, some charges a flat 4% on all 0PP... like HN...Some dont charge anything for 6 months, 2.5% for 12 months and 4% for 24 months (depends on bank).... like SH... |

QUOTE(weikee @ Jul 4 2012, 12:08 PM) When i was shopping for household equipments before moving to my house, i do lots of survey and ask many shop already. Even when they publish shop xxx, yyy,zzz give 0% installment is still factor in. Because when i negotiate the best price they will ask is it cash, c.card, or ipp plan. Cash of choose is better discount, than 1 to 2% discount for c.card, but ipp no discount. Dude... i dont mean to be rude, but this just shows that you have not done enuff shopping and asking, or that you have not shopped at the right places...I have stated, and in fact just recently bought, using Maybank card, at no interest charged for 6months installment plan.... no interest no nothing... 0% for 6 month, 2.5% for 12 months, and 4% for 24 months... for Maybank cards in Sen Heng... in fact they have a whole list of banks and rates.... Harvey Norman charges 4% irregardless of duration of 0PP, irregardless of price... and other shops charge 2% added on the negotiated cost of the product, as this is the rate the bank is charging the shops as merchants, which these arse shops pass back to us consumers.... |

QUOTE(weikee @ Jul 4 2012, 03:54 PM) Dude, I go so many shop, and the shop that don't offer ipp give the best price, HN, Seng Heng and big chain shop don't give good cash price because they already factor in the interest unless they have promotion price or special deal. So for buying nearly 20k of household equipments, saving is really a lot if the give the best price. You have your point... Added on July 4, 2012, 4:00 pmThe best deal I found is still jusco member sales. They give 10% discount, + 10% rebate via voucher. That sum out to be 19% discount, and very good buy for household items that don't get that much discount like fridge from out side shop. But this is what I found out.... Panasonic P50ST50 in Jusco retails at 5099, best price they can offer (during member sale) is the crappy 4999.... if less 10% (and another 10% rebate) have to use retail selling price of 5099, that comes up to RM4130.19 cash... (and this the the best case scenario)... Best price outside shops... RM3999 cash... in fact I found one shop RM3980 cash with delivery.... Same goes for a Toshiba 9kg washer.... Jusco and HN selling for 1209, Sen Heng 980, others at 920.... You have done your legwork, and calculations... but I am saying that not all shops that offers 0PP is expensive after strong nego.... |

QUOTE(allycat @ Jul 5 2012, 03:37 PM) Pls remember, in Jusco, you can still get 3% rebate ont op of the 10% disc and 10% rebate. Well... thats if you can wait till each member day sales.... and the 10%+10% rebate is not always there...So it works out to be very close to outside shops. What's more no need to bargain and worry of getting display sets. Not everyone can n will wait till such specific day only to buy what they wanna buy.... but to each his own... |
