whats the point TM making the ramli advertisement ?

to be frank malaysian player level still damn hard even to start for QPR ...
*
TM signed a deal with ManUtd some time last/this year.. Sponsorship aggrement, n they secured mutv into unifi. VDS visited menara TM in pre season. And i guess this ramli ad is part of tat.

As for the ad, nothing wrong with it. We've all dreamnt of smthg like tat as well. It may be impossible right now, but it can happen.

Hargreaves got to that stage where we had to do something with him. It's been what.. 3-4 years? Obviously we've been trying things out to get him fit again. Didn't workout. Hindsight..

Damn hard to play there. They've yet to concede there this season. Drew with Chelsea 0-0, and beat the team with the bestest fans and midfielder in the world 1-0 recently. It's far from over this game..

Rooney injured before the game, Evans injured in warm up? and Now Chicha out as well..

QUOTE(konichiwawa @ Sep 29 2011, 02:53 PM)
I'll probably get slammed for this but I'm being extremely honest here and I've never liked Carrick or even Berbatov when they joined Man Utd. I've been supporting Man Utd since 1991 and I feel that the both of them are definitely not up to the standard that I'm used to.

Gone are the days when we had players like Bryan Robson, Paul Ince and Roy Keane manning the midfield for us. Their energy and presence in midfield was superb. I'm glad Fletcher has proved his critics wrong in the past few seasons. I remember when he first started out, I kept telling my dad that I don't understand why SAF plays him on the right wing when he can't cross. On the other hand, he's always seemed pretty solid in the middle. It's great that Fletcher has shown up to be a commanding midfielder for us. Carrick is just too 1 dimensional and passive for my liking. His passes are usually sideways or backwards. While I agree that he controls the tempo of the game, I would say he controls it in a negative manner. He slows down the game a little too much. He doesn't tackle well to be a defensive midfielder, he doesn't bring the ball up to be the link between defense and offense and he doesn't have the creativity that Xavi and Iniesta has to excel in that midfield role.

As for Berbatov, I've always felt that he's not a great striker in the mold of the legends we've had in recent times like Ruud, Yorke and Ole. I think that his first touches are world class but he's not the kind of player that fits into our usual tactics. Perhaps he's more in the mold of Sheringham but I've never been a fan of him either. That's the reason why I'm a huge supporter of the Rooney and Chicharito combo. It reminds me of the ever successful Yorkie and Cole combo but an upgrade to that. Chicharito has also shown that he has the poacher's mentality that we've missed with Ruud and Ole. Even when Berbatov had a great season last year, I was still hoping that SAF would sell him because he'll be priced the highest after such a good season.

In the end, they are both decent players in their own right. But I just personally feel that they are overrated and overly expensive. £18 million and £30.75 million for the both of them is stretching it.
*
Only now come out and state that? Where the heck have you guys been? Stuck under the trophy cabinet at OT ar so you guys can't complain much?

Again with the price tags? Can we just let it go and judge them on what they actually do on the pitch and not what they cost? Of course they are gonna be expensive coming from another one of the rich English teams. That's normal. Plus with Carrick being English, can add 3-5m easily to his original cost. Lescott went for something like 25m. And he's just a decent defender.

As good as Ince and Keane was, only Keane went on to win the CL.. and only got the chance once in the final. Any other season we fell short in Europe. With Carrick being first choice, we went on to the final 3 times and won it once. Now that doesn't mean he's a better player. I'd say he's not a patch on Keane, obviously. While Ince was very good for us in those days, I would say Carrick have perform just as well if not better in his own quiet and efficient ways.

As for Berbatov.. probably his style doesn't quite suit the make up of our team, and the price tag weigh heavily on his shoulder, but he's been good for us. He's quite a strange one. He has the build to be a #9, but his mentality and ability is more towards someone who plays behind one. He still have his uses for us. For one, he doesn't complain unlike that Argie cancer that thank god SAF got rid off. And we know what his ability is. Just hope we don't play him alone upfront though. He's just shit at it.

As for overrated.. nobody ever rate Carrick as the best midfielders around, ever. We know he's a good/very good midfielder who's been very effective and important in our most glorious stretch in the club's history. 4 EPL titles, 1 CL(+2 finals) in 5 years. He's been very important since he's a regular in every season for us. As for Berbatov.. look up his goals+assists stats since he's been in EPL and compare it to the other top players in the league during that time. He would be around the top..

at least we can see he really tried not to "back-pass" nowadays after being booed by the OT fans, and scolded by Evans lol...but adjusting his style needs time, so give him a break guys...against Basel we can see he starts to venture forward, and hitting his passes nicely
*
Can't really blame him for that 'back' pass. While Evans and Jones can see the play ahead of them, Carrick was facing our own end.. and being experienced, he played the safe pass back. While it's frustrating sometimes, but we can't expect the guys to have a radar like view like we do at home. huhu.

Just to add something about squad depth. IMHO, we have too many forwards at the moment. Diouf, Macheda, Berba plus 3 key players which is Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez. No, I am not saying Berba should be sold. Just that I am not sure what the future like especially Diouf and Berba.

On Carrick, we should keep him but only as backup.
*
Rooney-Chicha is the preferred choice ATM I guess. Welbeck's early form surely elevates him from the rest. Owen is our supersub. While Berba is last season's league top scorer. Those are the main ones. The other two still too early to be playing in the team. Macheda too young and immature. While Diouf.. not sure what to make of him. I guess he's just unlucky. Good player, but came at the same time as Hernandez, and he loses out. Just wasn't meant to work it with us maybe. Can't see him stay too long. Surprised nobody wanted him and Macheda on loan at least.

but at least we can see he's trying not to do so now, but then again, he was accused of "leaving defenders unprotected".... doh.gif  doh.gif

rule of thumb-->Carrick can never win

Nobody blame Evra, Fabio, Rio and Jones ar? And did Carrick played alone in midfield? biggrin.gif

You're right about the high tempo. Cleverley, Welbeck, Young.. and the kids at the back.. they just make us awesome going forward. It's a beginning of a new era indeed. But can't expect them to carry us all season long. That's where the old guys come in. And one thing about the old guys is that, they take a while to get going. Carrick especially(SAF mentioned it every year) only come alive in November or so.

Liverpool threaten TV breakaway
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/...ccernet&cc=4716

Liverpool showing their class. But it's us that is mata duitan. hohoho.

He's right in a way. Us, them, City soon, Chelsea and Arsenal have bigger pulls outside of England compared to the rest of the PL sides. So it's unfair that we have to share the money around, in theory. But IMO the EPL model is great for the league itself since the gap isn't that far apart compared to what happens in Spain right now. There's a top 2 and the rest which is not good. What say you?

I hope that collective deal will stay on forever like it has been now since EPL's inception. It's proven to work. Why want to change it? Are they scared of missing out and lose their 'big 4' tag and get not much money in the process? whistling.gif

Thank god the Glazer's, David Gill and SAF all said they prefer the current model saying it's fair to everybody. But things might change.. we do have debts to pay. tongue.gif

Sell the OT naming rights I say to help a bit.. Mr Potato Arena sounds good. biggrin.gif

i oso dun like madrid but you got to acknowledge their role as United no.1 principal business partner

if we ask like 70million dollars for the mexican lad i sure they will pay happily
about selling stadium naming rights,i think it's ok only if the stadium is newly built and no emotional attachment is present

how would you feel if a stadium, built more than a century ago, with history and tradition, is being given other names for financial sake.for me it's just wrong

reebok stadium, brittania stadium, etihad stadium and emirates stadium is relatively new so it's a given

I don't want it to be changed.
It depends on how financially sound we are. That debt, if it becomes a problem, then I have no problem with the selling the naming rights of the stadium. As painful as it is, the club's well being is more important than a name change. It's just a name at the end of the day. People will always know it as Old Trafford. Once the debt is gone, change it back. hoho. But as it is, we are fine for now. So no worries in the immediate future of it being call 'Mr Potato Arena".

Added on October 14, 2011, 1:41 pmWe just have to accept that as brilliant as they are, they do have that nasty side inside of them. It's probably what makes them who they are. Roy Keane, Cantona.. it comes with the package. You win some, you lose some.
