I think the other way round. The scriptwriters and directors have been high on their "joke" weed since Fourze... or maybe OOO.

Kinda slowpoke, just finish watching the Wizard X Fourze movie.
Really getting tired of other riders appearing.
If with original actor / voice still ok but this time through rings...
Its kinda forcing it forcefully.. Die die also throw them in.
OOO X Fourze still quite ok when they include W but its getting old.
Slowly its like becoming sentai's call.. Just change the sentai call into henshin..
Hopefully next won't include all riders..

They seem to kick the logic off and forgot that there are still older audience that enjoy rider shows.
Toei is getting cheap lately. I'll not be surprise if this year rider going to have another decent theme and story.

For me i don't mind the theme, the design as long as the story is good and well balance.
Wizard turn out good at start, love it and keep on following weekly but.. recently did't watch and only watch after like 4~5 episode once.
Don't have the every week follow punya mood..
I just hope they get back to time when they film W or before when no is no appearing of kids that play a part of the movie. Unless for a great reason.
Fourze X Wizard's 4 kids is understandable as they link to fourze's story but later they summon the rider...
Lucky is not them that henshin into the rider..

Wizard earlier episodes (before the death of Pheonix) were at decent level though, and they have better pacing. Until the point were Nitou starting to act like a joker, the pacing of the story became unbalance and too much unnecessary jokes were forced into the plot.
It was still okay though, Infinity debut episode and Sora psychopath episodes were okay and improve the broken pacing back.
But (spoiler, in case you have yet to watch these episodes)

Just watched today too. Yeap, it is dragging the theme away.
Understand rinko serious and shunpai joker to like balance it but why drag rinko into funny side.. She should be more serious and lady like..
I don't mind if second rider is joker type.. but must got the limit.
Hopefully the last part get back to the original.
Since we'll be knowing haruto's pass (don't think will be yet, as pass he was football player..) but with white wizard appearing and more of wiseman & gremlims plan review PLUS the girls real origin.. Story can get pretty dark.. I HOPE for it..

IMO, the production team should not take that kind of action and force it into the story. Let the dead be dead. Reviving the Phoenix plot have been used twice and it will bring forth again unnecessary plot (thus ruin the story essence) if they revive him once again.
