hello, i'm interested to be a seafarer and i'm a spm 2011 leaver    . but i got some questions to ask. I heard about Alam, PUO and unikl MIMET. My 1st choice is Alam, 2nd is PUO then unikl MIMET. Does PUO and unikl MIMET marine student can be bound by the contract with shipping companies? as in alam. coz my father afraid that i would be a *penganggur* someday. Is unikl MIMET is a good place to study marine eng.? some people say that unikl MIMET is still new and not well recognize (i dunno). Is really PUO cadets is 100% employed? just want to confirm. coz my father just keep *bebel* at me about the employment of this career. sorry for my bad english.

My name is Leon and Im keen to join as a seafarer. Although my education isnt all fantastic especially my mathematics so Im curious to know if there are other ways to join in as a seafarer and work ofshore instead of aquiring the COC. I understand that if you do enough seatime(costal at first) you can qualify to undertake a test to enable you to get a COC(correct me if im wrong) Im not exactly 100% sure but I have got in contact with ALAM and the person on the other was explaining it to me that sense. Anyways that person is suppose to get back to me but I was hoping with the experience you have it would be a great deal if you could help properly explain it to me. I hope to hear from you soon. TQ.

I see..so after 2 years working AB then it comes to the test, how is the COC test is it an oral test or written?

How much for the safety course?

Normally how would the salary be like for OS or AB, and Im curious to know if working as a seafarer also have EPF and Socso?(for example right now I believe its 13% on employer contribution and 11% on employee)

if you're a party-goer, the kaki lepak. then trust me, you're gnna have a tough time onboard mate!

ARE YOU ABLE TO LEAVE EVERYTHING BEHIND FOR A MINIMUM OF 6 MONTHS?
your friends, family, heck even your girlfriend wei.
6 months aint no short time man.
if you're lucky your ship might have wifi la. (like mine )

i literally got ass f**ked onboard laa. kena bully everyday sial.
owh and 1 more thing, there's only 6 hours of sleep MAX.
EVERYDAY! and yes, everyday is a monday! 
which means = work everyday!

              Is there any post sea cadet/ officer who has sailed on Offshore vessels? I would like to know about Offshore Sector's Career progression.

For example, after completing CoC class 3, If I join offshore what will my rank on board offshore vessel?
>> What is the approximate salary of that ranked officer?
>>What is the prospect of Offshore sector?
>>How long we have to sail in a single voyage in offshore industry? (3 months on -3 mnths Off or 6 months on- 6 mnths off)

>>How long does it take to become a captain of Offshore vessels? (Approx.) (Required amount of Seatime + MarDEP Exam etc.)....
Any  suggested name of well renowned offshore company is really appreciated.

N.B: I am a Foreign Cadet from DNS 15 in ALAM ....

I want to ask if ALAM is a good place to begin your career as a seafarer ?
There are 2 courses to chose for which is marine engineering and nautical engineering, what is the future perspective of this 2 courses in terms of job scope, salary, etc.... ?

Hi all...I have some question here...I am currently form5 and i think i want to take Marine Engineering course next year...May I know where to study this course except ALAM becoz it's quite far from my hometown ( I am from Klang, Selangor =D )...
1 more important question, do i need to be physically fit for study this course? I heard some ppl say need to be fit and while studying there will be many physical trainning...

I know but atleast these few years can still be with them...is there any other school besides ALAM?
