i've gone thru the articles on batteries usage and all, however it din't seem to answer one question that i believe most people would have asked too. Do we actually have to charge the new phone overnight to make the battery life longer? just like the mobile phone sellers used to tell us. Or it would be sufficient to charge it to 100%?

Modern lithium battery no need to charge all night or discharge like nicad or nimah battery.Once it's full then you can start using it :-)
*
thank you for the reply! smile.gif also i have read that it is fine to leave your phone charging without having to worry about the overcharge issue? Because by the time most of us charge our phone it would be around the end of the day. So i can just plug it and go to bed?

Another question about rooting if you guys don't mind. Does rooting mean you can have access to all the paid apps just like what jailbreak-ing does? Or it is just used to replace the touchwiz 4.0/ the current ui?

Sorry for lots of questions, symbian-user here. doh.gif

I'm still a symbian user with E6 and 5800XM.
- Yes., you can leave your phone charging overnight. Only thing is your electric bill :-)
- No., rooting doesn't change your UI or give you access to the app. We android user will gladly buy any paid apps we want as it help developers. We do not condone piracy :-P
- You can change your UI without rooting by using launcher like ADW, Launcher Pro or Go Launcher EX
What firmware are you on.? The latest local DXKH and DXKI firmware support chinese language already

I just lost my 3 years+ old 5800 last week. =/ still having E72 with me though.
I see, so that means not rooting the phone will not spoil the fun that much, coz I'm in the middle of the semester and i think i need sometime to figure out the whole rooting procedure. BTW, keeping my phone original is perfectly fine, is it?

so that means i just need to fax the purchase receipt to SME right? thanks. i will fax the receipt tomorrow.. thanks again.

Do we need to write down our details such as IC #, phone # and etc on the receipt too?

I was only provided with an official receipt with advance payment of smart plan and the accessories, the phone was not included. When i asked that guy he just said the phone is under digi automatically, something like that. But actually they were out of stock and they got the stock from another shop. Is there something fishy going on? Also when i asked about registering warranty he said i can just take back everything to any digi centre. But the box says the retailer should sms to samsung, which i think they have not done so.

There should be 2 receipts. 1 for the smart plan advance payment and 1 for the phone. The receipt for the phone got IMEI number on it. Better go back and check. The digi salesperson told me any problem go find samsung NOT digi.  doh.gif

yea, come to think of it, i paid about 2k and there's a missing RM1347 to acknowledge the amount but i paid. LOL, now i really think i'm screwed. Will try to register my device now on samsung website, hopefully i'm not screwed by those guys.

It's in your smartphone. There's a tally on the box itself too. Do the cross checking and you'll be fine.
*
Yes i can see imei number, but not warranty card no (which should be printed on warranty card i think?)and serial number. Is it on the sticker on the box?

That's normal if you're updating through kies. I always have to try multiple times before it finally updated yawn.gif

any alternative if i don't plan to root my phone? Updating via the phone only gives me "no update available"

Added on September 27, 2011, 9:07 pmif i update later, the apps that i installed won't be wiped rite?

i can't seem to find the camera firmware update in samsung apps, probably too long and they deleted, where else can i find it? Does it have to be updated separately from the phone firmware?

You mean your i9100g got 2.3.5 update? i9100 users are gonna be so jealous.  tongue.gif

yea i'm on 2.3.5 with KI1, is it the latest one? coz i saw KI4 and KI2 firmwares.
Battery life doesn't seem to improve though, that's from my pure observation, no recording % per hour or whatsoever.

Any solution to the camera firmware update?

Yeap 2.3.5, is KI2 newer or KI1? logically it should be KI2 lol.
