anybody knows of a free to use MKV to AVI converter?

or any form of video format that can run on ps3
*
Search up Staxrip.
It's a little bit technical to use however it is free.

But get to grips with it and it's arguably the best converter out there on the internet, yeah even better than those so called "professional" converters with fancy GUIs.

One question guys.
If I just turn off the PS3 from the in-game and not from XMB, is it okay? Or it could damage the console?
*
Generally, it shouldn't affect the PS3.
But it's always bad to turn an electronic off when it's still working through something.

There are many games that even when you pause, the console will continue to process data.

*
If this was still 2006 and early 2007, yes firmwares will prove to be problemetic between different region of PS3 consoles.

Now?
Just update wherever you want from, firmware for PS3s has been universal for years.
They're all the same file, same MD5 hash, same size... same "same". laugh.gif

Check the discs that are giving you problems, there might be cracks in the middle of the disc.
Even a fine small crack will cause problems.

I would like to know is it alright to use SSD hard disc for the ps3
*
Yes it is alright.
But do take note not to waste money on SATA3 SSDs as the PS3 can only utilize SATA 1.5.

Best SSD drive to get for the PS3, Intel 320 G35K 120GB.
Of course, if your budget is bigger.. do feel free to go for the larger storage.

the 3006 model has smaller heatsink and no hard drive or wifi light indicators.

Hence I prefer the earlier model.

One thing I thought why sony put in a smaller heatsink is because modded ps3s that play of hard disk will generate heat much faster. with a smaller heatsink means chances are modded ps3s will also be either ylod faster or overheat more and cause internal damage. some more no indicator lights to show whether hard disk running or hnot.

Thats just my theory anyway but its good as I hate the availability of this pirated stuff.
*
Somewhat.

The truth is, price of alluminium went up lol.
Also the HDD is under the BD-drive... nothing was ever cooling the HDD since the PS3 slim was introduced.

Is there any truth to the rumor "If you play bluray movie on your ps3, your ps3 will easy spoil"?

Then playing games on your PS3 will also spoil it easily. rolleyes.gif
Don't get a PS3 is the best solution.

Sometimes the game might be saving or still loading, quitting could lead the PS3 to hang.

Change MTU to 1486 under your settings, both on the PS3 and on your router.

QUOTE(intothefantasy @ Jul 5 2012, 12:19 PM)
question: anyone that is playing their ps3 under led tv samsung that has 400hz CMR such as the 6 series model etc es6220 or es6600? i would like to know whether is worth or not getting 400hz CMR led tv for ps3?

i cant really get plasma since my electricity bill is quite high right now and my room is quite crowded with few LCD monitor around...LED tv would be a better choice but then i would like to have a smooth exp in gaming...and i only can think abt those 400hz clear motion rate enables me to experience it...some advice please
*
Not advisable to use motion overdrive features for games, especially input senstive based games (this means, FPS, fighting, or driving games).
You will feel input lag (yes it is very noticeable) and everything is unnatural.

So even if you get the Series 6 models from Samsung, you'll just end up disabling it anyways.

oh ic...so is there anything else i need to take note in buying a new tv such as led or plasma? and which model that recommended to reduce the input lag perhaps? more opinion and advice is welcome and appreciate  notworthy.gif
*
Let me reiterate. What I meant is that don't choose or buy a TV simply based on motion overdrive features.
What you want from a TV used for gaming is one with the least input lag and least motion ghosting.

guys, may i know what is input lag? just want to know whether i've experience it or not smile.gif
*
Play fighting games like Virtua Fighter 5, SF4 or Tekken where you need to input precise inputs for your attacks.
Also when you try to buffer certain moves for a string combo, your timing could be messed up drastically (remember, in fighting games.. even 50ms of input lag is horrible — something third-person shooters are okay with).

Racing games are not so bad, anything under 100ms is considerably okay still.

1080p upscale.
Native resolution of FF13 is 1280x720 without a back buffer.

Yes, only major change I know of is 1GB of cloud storage space for PS+ users.
