Not familar with ETrade although I have an account due to legacy from my company using it for giving stock options before moving on to UBS. If you want to stick with Etrade, can't advise you there. Pls survey which discount broker is better in term of transaction cost and trading platform features. TDAmeritrade is relatively cheap (not cheapest) and TOS platform is really powerful.

Stock option is a financial instrument giving you option to buy stock at certain price (strike price). You buy the option contract for small sum and the contract price may go up or down depending on how far away the strike price from actual stock price. Just to make you aware before you start your journey. With stock option you can make lots of money and lose quite a lot as well. It is not straight forward like stock as it has multiple variables that affect the option price and at least one of this variable has quite significant impact in addition to underlying stock price. Without attending any formal class, you may take several months or years to learn on your own and then make money. Maybe faster if you can grasp the concept fast. Let see what type of leading you need after a month learning. The strategies are not platform specific, so should not be a problem for you.

Sorry, I'm not in a position to accept students as I'm not an "expert" . I'm also learning like many folks. Subject of stock options is quite wide and there are many ways to "play" option. If you have questions, I think forumers here including myself might know and chip in to help answer.
