I am confused over your title and your question, whether you have the "not charging" words appear on your iPad status bar or your iTunes not recognizing your iPad? It's a common issue for "not charging" issue when connected to the USB port coz it doesn't produce enough power to charge your iPad but if you put your iPad in standby mode, it does charge slowly. If you do search or read some thread in this forum regarding about this problem, you'll find the solution where you need to download the ASUS "aicharger" and install into your PC in order to enable your iPad charge through the USB port. AIcharger can support varieties of differ brands hardware and it also can be supported in Window 7 as well.

I see, since your external hd can be detected than you have to check your USB cable and your iPad connector port. Can it be charge thru the AC adapter with the same USB cable as well?

QUOTE(amon90 @ Sep 8 2011, 11:45 PM) Sounds weird to me but do check whether the connection are intact or not and wait for a lil longer.

I think what ts is trying to say is that itunes doesn't detect the ipad. Correct me if i'm wrong.
The same usb port able to charge other device? Have you tried changing to other usb ports? If yes, try change the ipad usb cable.
