3. Usage - IT student, so expect to be doing stuff like Matlab, a lot of programming and compiling, database work and other CS related stuff. I'm doing Folding@home, so I need a powerful processor. Also, I believe in future proofing my machine, so looking for 2nd gen i7 and minimum 4GB DDR3 RAM. Other uses: surfing, watch movies on occasion, facebook gaming, playing old puzzle games like Bejeweled 3 and Bejeweled Blitz. Note that I usually have 700+ tabs open in Firefox and around 40-50 tabs in Chrome at any given time. The laptop will not be travelling much-- mostly between my uni and home once a week, since I already have an Asus VX6 for mobile computing. Used mostly while plugged in and will be running very long hours due to F@h work (estimated >18 hours daily).

2. Budget - 2k
3. Usage - College assignments/researches, casual surfing, minimal photo conversions/editing, pretty serious gaming. (Crysis, Black Ops, L4D, you name it.)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - >14, or any size that is comfortable for said usage.

I got my eyes on the AMD Llano laptops, the Acer Aspire 5560G to be specific.
Read a few reviews saying that it could suffer from "micro stuttering," since it utilizes 2 types of GPU.
Llano laptops dependence on good drivers also concerns me, though it could improve as time goes by.
Could anyone clarify whether this model has the AMD A8 or A6? From my findings it seems that newer models would have the A8 instead of the A6, which is a plus.

But then, I stumbled upon the Acer Aspire 4755G, though it only has 2GB of RAM.
Would it be enough for the laptop, or would it be able to utilize 4GB of RAM? Upgrading is always an option, though I fear it would go over the 2k range.
The fact that the screen is smaller is a slight cons, but it has a USB 3.0 slot, which is always good.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

it's been a while, but the time has come for me to get another laptop! for the missus that is.

need recommendation on 11.5/12" out there. saw that there's not too many choices, but it would be great to hear some thoughts from owners/sellers regarding them. max budget at rm2k, and she'll be using it mainly for spreadsheet, surfing and watching movies

Am looking at Sony vpcyb15ag. looks pretty darn nice, and she seems to like the lime green too.

however, if need be i can convince her to go for the more typical black or silver, lol.

For budget of RM2k I see that Acer is recommended. But I'm very skeptical of Acer. Will there be heating issue? Or whatever problem?
Both of my previous laptops are Asus and I love it. Never give me problem.
