Yeah focus on mobility and also can last at least another 5 to 7 years. I am type dont mind paying more to last longer. Not really into gaming but just performance in photo and video editing + mobility + slim and light

== don expected a laptop can last till 7 years..lol

ASUS N5SF-SX352V  not slim and light

u have plenty choice with the budget

---and my advice, buy the powerful , slim laptop, replace the hdd with ssd smile.gif
*
I agree with devour, for your budget, its better that you put in the SSD urself since we don't really have a lot of laptops with SSD options at the moment (apart from ULV-powered ultrabooks)...

The Toshiba Portege R830 is a good option if you want to put in your own SSD nod.gif

For a 13" laptop, pretty much this one:
MSI X370, AMD E-450 + AMD HD6320M@RM1699[1.3kg], W7HP

I would recommend you to take a look at 11.6-12.1" subnotebooks instead, more choices nod.gif

Unfortunately you can't have the best of everything with that budget sad.gif
As for battery life, it depends on how "long" is your definition of "long" laugh.gif Is 4-5 hours considered as "long" for you? laugh.gif
Pretty much:
Dell Vostro 3350, i5-2430M + AMD HD6490M@RM2536[2.04kg], W7HB, backlit keyboard, Belkin Radius 15.6" Backpack
Sony Vaio VPCSB36FG, i5-2430M + AMD HD6470M@RM2999[1.72kg], colors: White/Silver/Pink/Blue/Black

1. Preferred Brand: Acer/Lenovo
2. Budget:  RM 2,500
3. Usage: Surfing, watching HD movies, at least can play Dota at mid/high setting (can handle 5v5 fight without experiencing fatal error)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14 inch
5. Long battery life, thin, light is a bonus (she always complaining about her laptop weigh)

please lookup these for me, i know there are google but google are no match for user experience. thank you for your time smile.gif

p/s: it's for my girlfriend biggrin.gif
*
For a girl I see, gotta choose something that looks nice as well laugh.gif
Can consider these:
Acer TimelineX 4830TG, i5-2430M + Nvidia GT540M(2GB)@RM2499[2.17kg] *even though it has throttling problems, I doubt your gf would stress the laptop until it throttles haha, not with Dota.

Lenovo *Nothing much from Lenovo laugh.gif
Z470, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT520M@RM2099, 640GB, colors: Black/Pink

AMD llano so far is only used in notebooks of 14" and above.
Perhaps you are referring to AMD Zacate?

Anyway, do take a look at:
11.6-12.1"

i see,
which is better between AMD Zacate and Atom 570?
im searching good balance between netbook
not really into laptop now
*
Basically, if comparing AMD E350/450 + AMD HD6310/HD6320 to Intel Atom 570 + Intel GMA3150:
AMD wins in terms of GPU performance, but loses out in terms of processing power (most users say the performance difference is intangible in real life)

But then the VX6 is coupled with an AMD HD6470, quite powerful haha, so its a good pick... But battery life may be a problem though... rclxub.gif

HP Dm1-4010AU, AMD E-450 + AMD HD6320M@RM1399
RM100 different but same specs
the weight really not a issue as im using a pull travel bag

which do you think more better?
*
The HP Dm1 doesn't have USB3.0 whereas the 1215b has it nod.gif That's a point to consider laugh.gif
The Dell M102z runs on a 7,200rpm HDD, which is faster than the ones in both the 1215b and Dm1... but its glossy and ugly haha rclxub.gif

Here's some of the reviews (spec may differ):

Hey thanks so much for the speedy reply! smile.gif Which of these brands you would deem reliable? haha~ I saw the NS45, pretty interested in it seems i love both music and gaming(pretty capable GC right?). What do you think ?
*
Laptop reliability depends largely on luck and also how the user takes care of the laptop nod.gif
Its best that you go for warranty extension for less worries. Dell currently offers the best in terms of warranty support- onsite yo brows.gif

Yup, the N45sf is a good pick after the BIOS update addressing the GPU issue laugh.gif

Buy when you need, wait if you can.

If you're buying during PC fair, its best that you buy in LYP/ Digital Mall during the same period when the event is held. You'll get the same deals with less crowds (but less babes as well sad.gif)

Hi sifu,

Please recommend,

1. Any brand
2. 2k max
3. For my parents to watch shows and surf the net. Nothing to intense on the laptop.
4. Again, any size.

Just looking for a simple and reasonably price laptop that generates respectable performance. As my parents would want to watch some korean drama or what not, it would be good if the laptop has good sound and screen quality.

Thank you in advance!  biggrin.gif
*
Well, can't expect too much from a RM2k laptop yo haha laugh.gif
Can consider these two:
Inspiron 15 (N5050), i3-2330M + Intel HD3000@RM1649, W7HB
Inspiron 15 (N5050), B950 + Intel HD3000@RM1449, W7HB, belkin Radius 15.6" backpack, Expires 8 Dec

Do use the remaining money to extend the in-home warranty support to 3 years, would be very handy and convenient for your parents to call in Dell technicians for repairs (if required [touchwood]) nod.gif

The E450 APU is not exactly very powerful for autocad etc. Its geared towards gaming.
Hmm, perhaps these? FreeDOS though, its more or less balanced in terms of CPU/GPU... good for the price you're paying nod.gif

If you're into gaming, then the G53 would definitely be the better option.
If you still want a little bit of portability, then choose the N53Sn...
The G53 should be better built~

What issues about the G53 have you heard? hmm.gif

Well, the B950 is slightly better than the T6600 based on benchmarks here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Proces...ist.2436.0.html
Not sure about how it will fare in Virtual machine
The GT520m and AMD HD6370M are entry level cards bro...

You can't have the best of everything... either increase budget, or compromise on performance
