Thanks for the recommendation. Yeah, not thinking of installing resource heavy games so far but not sure in the future.

But can you explain what exactly with the negative perception for Acer brand? I would like to know is it in terms of build quality alone, plastic etc or is it the system unstable etc? Cause the price is very tempting.

And is Dell really good? My colleague need to call the on-site service for her dell notebook in a single year. Not sure which model anyway

Each brand offers different lineups of laptops e.g. budget, business, premium etc.
Just try not to expect too much from budget line laptops laugh.gif The manufacturer must've cut corners somewhere and thus resulting in the lower pricings...

And more often than not, whether a laptop lasts or not depends on how the user takes care of it nod.gif

QUOTE(xaVier @ Nov 24 2011, 08:56 AM)
Hi.. help recommend me a model

1. Preferred Brand: Asus.. Dun really mind actually.. anything reliable brand would do..
2. Budget: Below 2K..
3. Usage: MS Office, Browsing, Some Chemical Software, Presentations (lightweight & good batt life)..
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 11"-13"..

I'm currently looking at Samsung 3 series [NP350U2B-A01MY/A02MY/A03MY], i3-2310M + Intel HD3000@RM1799 and Asus VX6S-ORA015M, Atom D2700 + AMD HD6470M@RM1799.. Any Recommendations?

Any thoughts on AMD E-450 processor in ASUS Eee PC 1215B or SONY Vaio Y series??

Thanks..
*
QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Nov 24 2011, 09:02 AM)
The Samsung 3 series would have the better CPU performance out of all those model..
*
Yeah, the 3 series is better. Also, you can consider Lenovo's Ideapad Z370 as well nod.gif
Since you're using chemical softwares, I believe having a better processor would be more important. So you might want to consider laptops with Sandy Bridge instead

Hmmm normal speakers are ok as well then, I guess usage of Headphones would be a better option.

Thx for the suggestion though. How about the inspiron 14z?
*
Yea, the Inspiron z series are quite nice as well, quite worth it I guess nod.gif
But they don't have VGA ports iinm.... better check 1st before purchase, especially if you need to make presentations often..

You could always opt for external speakers as well, they're much better than those in most laptops nod.gif

Hey all~

1. Preferred Brand ---> Asus,toshiba(no acer or hp...bad experience wif them...)
2. Budget              ---> below 2k
3. Usage              ---->gaming,surfing
4. Preferred laptop/screen size ----> 14 inch FTW

i already look into (asus a43ta) and (Toshiba Satellite L745 i3-2330M + Nvidia GT525M@RM1999)..which one would do better?(in temperature on playing games and can survive long one),a better recomendation would be appreciate too  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

just in case,my old hp cq 41 cpu died from hot temp....
*
Well, if you have a strict budget of max RM2k, and you would want a laptop mainly for gaming (and don't want Acer), then the Asus A43Ta would be the better pick nod.gif
Otherwise, I would recommend topping up abit and get the:
Asus A43Sv-VX264v, i5-2430M + Nvidia GT540M(1GB)@RM2349[2.44kg]
or
Dell Inspiron 14R (N4110), i5-2430M + AMD HD6630M@RM2149, 4GB, 640GB, *Big Giant Plaid!Lid; 2 years warranty *PC Fair deal

Can consider this one as well, just need to bargain abit hehe~
