Just curious, what laptop with the best specs I can get for RM3k or less?
*
Probably the Asus N55sf (i5) nod.gif or HP Dv6
Asus N55Sf-S2353v [black], i5-2430M + Nvidia GT555m (2GB) + 1600x900@RM2799[Bang & Olufsen]; USB3.0, Sonic Master subwoofer
HP Dv6-6001TX, i7-2630QM + AMD HD6770@RM3499 [2.63kg]; Beats headphones *RM3k without Beats

QUOTE(azrash @ Oct 17 2011, 02:32 PM)
hello guys, i am looking for a laptop
budget: max 2.5k
main usage : photoshop cs5, encoding videos, web surfing
screen size :14 or less

extra points for (listed based on priority)
1.backlit kb
2.not too heavy
3.longer battery life for web surfing

many thanks!

quick question, 540m vs 6730, which one better? thanks
*
Apart from the Asus A43Sv and A43Sa that you're aiming for, can consider the Dell Vostro 3450 as well nod.gif
Dell Vostro 3450, i5-2430M + AMD HD6630@RM2577, W7HB,backlit keyboard, Belkin HDMI cable, Belkin Radius 15.6" Backpack

The AMD HD6730 is slightly better than the GT540m.
The AMD HD6630 is more or less on par with GT540m, but has larger OC potential

3. Usage: Photo edit, movie, music.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: Bigger better tongue.gif

Would recommend you to top up abit to get the overally better Asus N55sf (i5):
N55Sf-S2353v [black], i5-2430M + Nvidia GT555m (2GB) + 1600x900@RM2799[Bang & Olufsen]; USB3.0, Sonic Master subwoofer

if strict on budget, then perhaps the:
Asus A53Sv, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M (2GB)@RM2499

May I know anyone here tried Lenovo G770? Any comments on the reliability?

17.3 Inch @ RM26xx seems pretty good for a big size screen(usually 17inch >4K), and the spec isnt that bad either. Only problem is the battery life which remain 6 cells.
Any other recommendation for laptop that has big screen size < RM3K budget? the cheaper the better. I dont really care about performance as I will be using it for web surfing, youtube, movie only, so screen size does really matters here, may be battery life as well.
*
We don't have the Lenovo G770 over here in Malaysia right? hmm.gif

Most of the 17" laptops here are more expensive than RM3k

However, for a 15" laptop, the Inspiron 15R would be a great choice, you can use some of the remaining money to extend the warranty to 3 years~
Inspiron 15R (N5050), B950 + Intel HD3000@RM1659
Inspiron 15R (N5050), i3-2330M + Intel HD3000@RM1739

*Do take note that the larger the screen size, the shorter the battery life nod.gif

Thanks for the info. For N55sf i7 or i5 is recommended? The price diference is quite huge. And If N55SF i7 core compare with N53 i7 core( the difference is only the graphic card) which is more worth for its money?  notworthy.gif
*
The i7 variant for the N55sf is not particularly worth it because the i7, weirdly as it seems, uses a normal HD screen (the i5 variant uses a matte, HD+ screen instead)..
In between the n55sf (i7) and the n53sn, it all boils down to which one you like more lo... The former does have a better gpu and comes with an additional subwoofer nod.gif

btw, whats the cheapest laptop with these features? Still above 2.5K?

Screen 15.6
GT540m

Scree 15.6
GT555m
*
For the one with GT540M:
Acer Aspire 5750G, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M(2GB) @RM2399
Asus A53Sv, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M (1GB)@RM2349, USB3.0

Whereas the one with GT555m, only:
Asus N55Sf-S2353v [black], i5-2430M + Nvidia GT555m (2GB) + 1600x900@RM2799[Bang & Olufsen]; USB3.0, Sonic Master subwoofer

Lenovo Y570's GT555m is not comparable with Asus's nod.gif

It seems that the Asus product guide price is almost always RM100 higher than what most ppl are selling...
Looks more like a dirty trick to cheat money to me shakehead.gif

Paying even higher price than RRP for a display unit is surely a con case vmad.gif
Display units have been molested so much that they should be sold at lower than RRP prices...

Not sure what you're going about laugh.gif

But the "price jack" I was referring to is that the prices in the product brochure are all RM100 dearer than that stated by sellers... that's all... hmm.gif

Hi bro,

Could suggest me a notebook based on criteria below?

1. No Preferred Brand
2. Below 3.5k
3. Personal use for Programming/Web browsing/Word/Excel/Chatting/Photoshop
4. Screensize 14" above, larger the better
5. Lightweight - easy to bring everywhere
6. Not generating alot of heat
*
Can consider these:

Asus N55Sf-S2353v [black], i5-2430M + Nvidia GT555m (2GB) + 1600x900@RM2799[Bang & Olufsen]; USB3.0, Sonic Master subwoofer

Dell
XPS 15, i5-2430M + Nvidia GT540M@RM3299 [JBL], upgradeable to FullHD, backlit keyboard customizable
XPS 15, i7-2670QM + Nvidia GT540M@RM3699 [JBL], upgradeable to FullHD, backlit keyboard customizable
XPS 15z, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT525M (1GB) + (1920x1080)@RM3389[2.51kg], backlit keyboard
XPS 15z, i5-2430M + Nvidia GT525M (1GB) + (1920x1080)@RM3799[2.51kg], backlit keyboard

MSI GE620DX-FHD, i7-2670M + Nvidia GT555M + (1920x1080)@RM3299

For Dell XPS 15, it'll be worth it to opt for the FullHD screen upgrade, especially if you're into higher level Photoshopping~
The XPS 15z, though not as good as the XPS 15; its lighter and slimmer nod.gif

Greetings to all the master here tongue.gif currently planning to buy a gaming laptop but don't know which 1 to get sad.gif Here is my criteria following the 1st page rule smile.gif

1 > Dell / Alienware
2 > Under 8k (but am gonna use monthly installment tongue.gif
3 > Gaming and Entertainment purposes like, hdmi in & out to TV etc etc
4 > 15' - 17'

At 1st i'd like to think about m17x but it's pretty exp so if possible i'd like to choose cheaper but as powerful as Alienware ? hope this doesn't offend any master here,i'm not pro in PC specs...at all tongue.gif Thanks for reading tongue.gif
*
If you only prefer Dell/Alienware, and 15-17", then you could only choose Alienware m17x no? laugh.gif
Though you could also import the weaker XPS 17...
I would recommend you to take a look at Sager units instead yo nod.gif

Hello,

I hope to get some opinion/review from you all here about Dell Latitude E6520 .
I could not find Dell Latitude Specific Post.

I currently used XPS M1530 for the past 4 years. Like it and dislike it.
Hence, I am looking for more reliable Laptop with better heat management.

1. Preferred Brand: Dell due to their professional After-Sales Support.
2. Budget: about MYR5,000
3. Usage: Works: Office, Coding (80%), Gaming (20%) ability to run Deux Ex Human Revolution at low/mid
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 15.6"
5. Preferred design: No Plastic alike, I prefer Aluminium such as Dell Busines Laptop Line: Vostro and Latitude.
6. Extra Note: No more warm hands. I usually on the move and most of the time, there was no aircondition.

Thanks and hope someone could recommend me either Dell or others.
*
As mentioned by Joker, the Latitude models ain't really meant for gaming at all haha laugh.gif
Vostro 3550 would be good options though~
Dell
Vostro 3550, i5-2430M + AMD HD6630@RM2577, W7HB, backlit keyboard, Belkin Radius 15.6" Backpack
Vostro 3550, i7-2640M + AMD HD6630@RM3040, W7HB, backlit keyboard, Belkin Radius 15.6" Backpack

budget:below rm3k
brand:any brand as long as the laptop is rigid. planning to use it for 4 years
usage:games like cod4, cs source, photoshop cs5, element 9, words
screen:14"
good battery life if possible
*
Perhaps this one?
Lenovo Y470, i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT550M@RM2999[JBL]

The battery life is not that good, but you do gain extra performance laugh.gif
And you could always extend the warranty coverage for a peace of mind~
