Hi,
I started piano lessons about 17 years ago and i stopped at Grade 1 or Grade 2 (I can't even remember).
Anyway, i wanted to take up piano lessons again, so i went to Yamaha in Subang Parade. I was told that it's a trend to start keyboard nowadays and it's very similar to piano.
True?

Thanks for the input guys.
Well, it's more of a hobby for now, nothing serious. If i get more serious later, i will move on to piano.

True? hi, it's been so long and i have been so busy with work till i forgot about my piano/keyboard interest. What are the price range of a piano? It could be either new/second hand. I saw some in Yamaha Subang Parade but those are like 5 digits.

Hi all, thank you for the advises and feedback.
For me it's more of my personal interest and it should be more of modern songs.
I've sort of decided to start with keyboard first for now and see how it goes.
After doing some reading over the net, i was considering the Yamaha PSR E433 but when i visited Yamaha, they said PSR S650 would be a better choice if i'm thinking of long term. The price is also double.
This is the part where i can't make up my mind, what do you think?

The only worry i have when buying second hand items are the warranty. Based on what i've read spare parts are really high for electronic musical instruments.
That's why i was opting for a new unit.

Hi all,
I'm considering an used keyboard too for now because i'm worried i can't make a 100% commitment at the moment due to work.
What are the things to look for when getting a used keyboard? Besides the warranty & condition, what should a beginner like me look for? Any recommended places to get one? (I don't think Yamaha centers sells second hand if i'm not wrong)

Thanks for the feedback. Based on some research that i did, second hand keyboards are not that cheap either. For example, a PSR233, 333 and 423 are a couple of hundred cheaper only compared to a new keyboard and the warranty is almost expiring (based on the survey i did in the trade zone). Now i'm thinking, PSR E433 or PSR S650 (i heard a new model might be out soon, true?) Added on November 13, 2012, 5:49 pmQUOTE(AquaralSS @ Nov 12 2012, 03:05 PM) In my terms and my opinion, Keyboard is keyboard, piano is piano(same as digital piano)its a huge different. Keyboard you can mess with much more sound and voices, rhythm and style, arrangement to different genre of a music. Of course, most of the terms keyboard is less than 88 Standard piano Keys which is 49,54,61,76 keys are perfect for gigging. Those are called "keyboards". For piano, 88 keys. Sure they are a lot of different voices, styles and rhythm for today DIGITAL piano but, piano is something involving classical piano piece. Only PIANO,no other sound involve. Hi, I don't think i'll be playing classical music much, it's more for modern music. Thanks for the feedback This post has been edited by silverwave: Nov 13 2012, 05:49 PM
