QUOTE(shootkk @ Sep 7 2011, 09:07 AM)
You should ask yourself whether you're in for the long haul with Sony and whether you're going to go full frame in future. If yes then the Zeiss will be a much better investment. The 28-75mm is strictly for those with a FF cam and tight budget.

ahpingko : That depends on the condition of the lens. As you already know the beercan is an old lens. Although it's built like a tank but wear and tear do occur over time so make sure the lens is in good condition. The beercan is also a slow focusing lens although the 75-300mm is not fast by any means but keep that in mind. Of course if you like the 'Minolta' look the beercan is famous for then it's a good buy.

ieR : I like the shot but one thing bothers me. The grass flowers (the white bits on top) is much brighter than the subject and I feel that it is a little distracting in a sense. That's just me lar... nice shot overall.
*
the slow focusing is slower than 75-300 itself? my 75-300 always like to perform focus hunting..lol...i like its metal body!

QUOTE(gjtan @ Sep 7 2011, 09:21 AM)
Ahpingko, personally I do like the beercan, and what I have to agree with shootkk is that the beercan is very slow in focusing especially in long end.

QUOTE(chiahau @ Sep 7 2011, 09:59 AM)
Which 70-300?

The 75-300 or the 70-300G or the Tamron's 70-300 ?

Tested the Tamron's 70-300, quite good bargain for its price.

Unless you rather get a 70-300G from Sony, the Tamron might just do fine.

Off topic -

Many people keep saying, upgrading to FF ish good and etc. But frankly, how many of us do really use the full potential of the FF? I don't geddit when some newbie who just got lotsa cash to go around and say I've gone FF, wow~"

Personally, I do not do large size printings, 4R normally nia. I don't think I'll use the full potential of the FF since i've yet to max out my aps-c potential, thus no reason to even go FF. Is that something logical? XD
*
how much is that tamron 70-300?...

I just saw, but seller is with 0 post count and selling things SOOO cheap. Sounds too good to be true. That by itself is enough to make me raise a red flag d. Although that deal does seem really really sweet.

that fella selling this now:

Item(s): DSLR A850 (Full Frame DSLR Camera) + SAL 85F14Z (Carls Zeiss Lens)

Package includes: Complete Box

Price: DSLR A850 (RM 3600) + SAL 85F14Z (RM 3800)

Reason for sale: Assisting uncle (in his 50') in selling. His reason: camera too big for traveling. Been keeping it at home after 5 months purchased. Wants to sell now after 1 year.

i feel it sounded so fishy..lol...selling a900 and a850 at the same time..

Nex 7 Body only is more expensive then A77! =.=
ahpingko, samyang is Non Chipped, u wont see any "lens chip contact" on the lens, so the camera wouldn't even know there is a lens attached. so default setting, the camera will show "no lens attach" error when shutter is pressed. turn to M mode or enable "no lens shutter release" (or something, forgot the real 'function name') to able to shoot in A, S, P.

you can CHIP the samyang, u can order from ebay or look for CJLAI (if he still have any in stock left). the CHIP allows only "auto exposure" in A and S(but S is useless as aperture are manual). other function like AF/Aperture, are not working.

=====================================================

many people doesnt know how to "estimate" or understand "price ranging for product range" here. the old rumor (spelled R U M O R) of USD1k(rm3k) is the silliest rumor... where i keep quiet when people was so hype bout it.

the 7 series, (spelled S E V E N) are PRO series (in APS-C) in the Alpha Legacy, and the "Pro Crop", or "Crop Flagship" usually will price at the "flagship pricing" like D300s or 7D for that matter. dont tell people you can get ferrari at wira price =.= try google properly from SONY SITE for RRP. dont "predict" or grab from "rumor" and blast in forum, wiser/mature people will think how silly/childish/lazy/idiotic you are...

for you who wan touch 7 series, please prepare 4.5k myr for minimum package.

(william, zstan, LCH, i know u guys wan to like this, but sorry ini buka FB tongue.gif)
*actually i know the sony malaysia RRP but i am under NDA
*
wa...will prompt error say no lens attached?..alpha 550 can work without lens?..i don rmb i saw any function to compensate that no lens thing.....meaning samyang cant work in my a550?..anyone can confirm?..coz i am going to get the samyang...

zstan: It's not black but it's obviously in shadow. I guess I'd prefer colorful candles.

ahpingko:

On the A100, A33, A35, A55, A560, A580, A77, A700, A850, A900, there is an option called "Release shutter without lens". When you set that to ON then you can use an unchipped lens in PASM modes.

On the A200, A230, A290, A300, A330, A350, A380, A290, A450, A500, A550 you need to change to M mode to shoot. There is no option in the menu.

The A850/A900 firmware version 2.0 adds support for "Release shutter without lens" - before this, you'd have to use it in M mode too.

chiahau: Not as far as I know - when recording, pressing the shutter just re-focuses.

The A700 came out at a retail price of RM5499. So as far as it is, it seems the A77 is far cheaper.

meaning if i get samyang fisheye only can use M mode.. hmm.gif hmm.gif ..not so hard..but flash wise...can use with flash?...a550 and samyang fish eye for sony can work together right? tongue.gif

Sigma Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DG Macro Autofocus Lens (for Sony)

thinking of using this to replace my kit lens 18-55 and as zoom lens..any review...IQ sure better than my 18-55 rite?

ahpingko : Try to consider Tamron 18-270mm. It highly rated. But never know alpha user using this one.

Never buy Sigma 28-300mm( i used to own one). The softest travel lens, colour is dull, weird zoom rotation and prone to gear strip.
*
i saw the review for 28-300..looked not so good..hahhaa..that 18-270 over my budget already..

QUOTE(shootkk @ Sep 14 2011, 11:28 AM)
ahpingko : First things first. Do you really need the telephoto end? I used to have a SAL 18-250mm lens. Then I found that I seldom use the telephoto end and I am more prone to shooting wide than anything else.

So I sold off the lens and I don't miss it at all. Not even when I go travelling. If you don't need the tele end, if would be better to get the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 which would prove more useful and give you better IQ than a super zoom.

But of course you need to really know if you need the tele end or not.
*
i don need telephoto end actually..hehe...17-50 seemed to be more suitable..

QUOTE(albnok @ Sep 14 2011, 11:39 AM)
67zai: If not for the post-processing in #2 it wouldn't be special.

shukrie: Could have eye contact? Picture lacks intensity.

Codyx: Could get a less chaotic background.

ahpingko: Try Leos Com Trading, 1st floor, Ampang Park, next to the escalator.

The Tamron 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DiII isn't as good as the Tamron 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DiII. There are Sony versions of the 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DT and 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DT. The Sony 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DT focuses faster with less turns for screw-drive.

do you know the boss??...or the price of samyang 8mm there??

QUOTE(EvanKeat @ Sep 14 2011, 11:48 AM)
ahpingko: Samyang lens! maybe cjlai has. I saw in LYN Garage Sale, some guy sell all the Samyang lens from 8mm to 85mm. U can try there.
If can wait n try the new SAL1650f2.8 SSM from Sony!  drool.gif  drool.gif

RAW won't have the same vibrance since it will start 'flat' and you add the vibrance manually. Lightroom is less reddish by default compared to DxO Optics Pro.
