btw Mandarin is the way it's spoken. Chinese is the text. so yeah Kanji is essentially Chinese text.

way it's pronounce aside, the meaning also can be different.

like 青 for example, is blue in Japanese (read as 'ao) but green in Chinese (read as 'qing).

one thing good about Japanese is that you don't have to assign TONE to the word, unlike in Chinese where each word also has a tone to it. (in Chinese, there's 4 tones)

Base on the link you gave, I see that they giving the public to test Project Mirai in TGS. I guess gotta go try it out.
Well, when u say tone, Jap words also have their own tone, if you pronounce it wrongly, they might thought is other words.
