Here it is, official as official gets: Samsung just announced the Galaxy Tab 7.7. As the name suggests, it has a 7.7-inch (1280 x 800) display -- specifically, a Super AMOLED Plus panel. Like so many other 7-inchers hitting the market, it runs Android 3.2 and yes, that's a skinned flavor of Honeycomb, with Samsung's tablet-optimized TouchWiz UX layered on top. Inside, it runs the same Samsung-made dual-core 1.4GHz processor found in the new Galaxy Note, along with an HSPA+ radio promising theoretical download speeds as high as 21Mbps. Other specs for the 0.74-pound (335-gram) tablet include 16GB to 64GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 5,100mAh battery rated for 10 hours, 802.11n WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0 and dual 3MP and 2MP cameras. In a nutshell, it's the in-between-sized do-over a lot of folks have been awaiting since the original Galaxy Tab grew stale -- a slate that promises faster speeds and some seriously improved viewing angles. We'll be the judge of that in our review, but in the meantime stay tuned for some early hands-on impressions. sos cili
xoom has the hdmi, usb slot and expandable memory option. 7.7 has none? purleaseeee
microSD slot is included...
juz the weight itself already can offset the cons... Tab 7.7 weights approx. 50% of Xoom (335g vs 730g)..
and the whole point of Android is having variety... there is always a device that suits wat u want... look else where if this one is not wat u want to see...
Now the big question is, if you get this Galaxy Tab 7.7, what smartphone will you be getting?
Do you still need a smartphone with that? It's small enough to be portable and it also has telephony so IMO it fills the roles of a phone and tablet quite well, just make sure you use a handsfree kit while talking

there are times when u won't want to carry a 7" tablet out even if u ve bluetooth headset...
that's my experience with the original Galaxy Tab...

just use tab 7.7 as ur phone... samsung have release the hdmi/usb port for SGSII,do u think there would b a problem for tab 7.7 to get those? n tab 7.7 support microsd!
THe Note is considered super big already for my usage, the 7.7 is..... Not very suitable for me I would say.... you need to purposely bring a bag/ pouch around just to put the 7.7, abit inconvenient don't you guys think? But a small crapphone + 7.7 seems just nice yo I think for most ppl
I am still amazed at its thiness. It is reported at 7.9 mm, even slimmer than the SGS II at 8.5 mm. I was looking at my SGS II and trying to understand how slim it has gone down - just amazing. For comparison, these are the thickness of other tablets:
ipad 2 : 8.8 mm Tab 10.1 : 8.6 mm G note : 9.7 mm Tab 8.9 : 8.6 mm Tab 7" : 12 mm iPad 1 : 13.4 mm

7.7 the back seems durable but not sure is metal or plastic? the micro sd support is finally pull sammy back to the right track
the original Galaxy Tab has it... Samsung removed it in Tab 10.1 and Tab 8.9 due to size restriction (Tegra 2 is a bulky and hot chip)...
goes on to show u how much better Exynos is in terms of heat dissipation...
in terms of thickness the king would be Toshiba AT200 (market name TBA) @ 7.7mm, but still with a 10" monitor and microSD, microUSB and microHDMI... oh, and a dual core TI OMAP 4430 @ 1.2GHz as well...
Tegra 2's time is over... nuff said...

the Note is a phone, not tablet, technically speaking...
case in pt, it runs Gingerbread instead of Honeycomb...
This one should run ICS instead if this one is released.

But the thing is the GT 7.7 has the S-AMOLED Plus display and 7.7-inch HD resolution. 10 inches is too large for portability.

fiddled with my friend's Transformer, it's actually a good size if u want entertainment, and not too bulky... 7" is more geared for mobility...
at the end of the day it's still ur own preference...

well Dell Streak was a 5" phone which started the trend of oversized phones...
This 7.7" tablet has been removed from IFA2011 in Germany. Probably because of the legal case going on between Samsung and Apple. Let's hope there's no problem for Samsung to bring it here. Damn you Apple!

Apple has no lawsuit with Samsung in Malaysia (yet). I guess there will not be problem for this Tab 7.7 to reach Malaysia. Tab 10.1 is on sale now. Tab 8.9 will be launch soon. So European and Australian will all come here to buy Tabs.

Samsung AU has said that the Galaxy Tab that Apple sued in Australia is not the one they re bringing in...
i think Apple AU tried to hit on Galaxy Tab 10.1v, which disappeared from Vodafone AU's website lately...
and nah, Apple won't bother suing in MY... they need high profile markets to make it count...
i try to find the price but few are stated, according to the website soyacincau .. price is RM1599 .. just great.. but when will this baby be launch in Malaysia? .. my hands are itchy now ... hehehhehe
p/s - to admin, i think this thread is suitable for android thread.. sorry if i'm wrong
I recall reading somewhere that Honeycomb does not support voice & text msgs, so now can you mean?
i am not too sure, but to me it's juz a software issue... it could be that Samsung customized Honeycomb to allow for voice calling and SMS... the hardware is more than capable to do that...
and with the imminent launch of Ice Cream Sandwich, this shouldn't be a problem anyway...
The price might be due to the smaller screen size and overall a smaller tablet?
There's a forumer in Garage Sales already accepting pre-orders and the price he confirmed from source is RM1699 or lower, coming by the end of the month.
Does anyone know if there is a 32gb version and if it's available in singapore? the 10.1 tab only 16gb avail here but 32gb is avail in US. so i'm just wondering.
i waited and waited and......waited........ and only 16gb? in the end i gave in and got myself a ipad2. not that i didn't want the tab 7.7 but.... Samsung took too long. and i'm not dissapointed in my purchase and that Sammy is how u lose customers.
