If I go on long distance within the city like KL-Klang using highway, I can get 8.2 If I go on long distance within peninsular like KL-Kuantan, I can get 7.6 Mostly city drive where there is a lot of cars and traffic lights, I get only 8.8

Came across some useful info http://www.kouki.co.uk/utilities/visual-tyre-size-calculator Added on October 20, 2011, 7:17 pmXM2 or CC5? I want quiet and durable. They last more than 20k each? Added on October 20, 2011, 7:46 pmStatic loaded radius, outer diameter and rolling circumference These three measurements are all important to consider when talking about wheels and tyres. They're all interlinked. Straight from the manufacturer, a tyre is circular and it's outer diameter (OD) is based on this unladen, perfectly circular condition. Because tyres deform under load (flatter on the bottom than they are on the top when taking the weight of a car), the vertical radius of a tyre under load is not half the diameter. It's typically about 44% of it (from the centre of the wheel to the road). In addition, a tyre doesn't roll like a solid wheel; the steel or fabric belt 'rolls along the ground' like a caterpillar tank tread does. Because of this, the rolling circumference of the tyre isn't quite what you'd expect. The closest approximation for this value can be calculated by taking the outer diameter, subtracting twice the tread depth and multiplying by PI. Roughly speaking, that's 0.96 x OD x PI. Now why is this magical value so important? If the rolling circumference changes because you've mismatched your new wheels and tyres, then your speedo will lose accuracy and the fuel consumption might go up. The latter reason is because the manufacturer built the engine/gearbox combo for a specific rolling circumference. Mess with this and the whole thing could start to fall down around you. Need to adjust chamber screws. This post has been edited by n8210: Oct 21 2011, 02:28 PM

Hey guys, with the XM2, now I can lower down my FC to 8.0-8.1L/100k. Previously I'm around 8.6-9.0, most of the time around 8.8L/100km. Amazing? Now I think I want to research into adding soft turbo. Give it more ummpphh...

Ya, agree. That little nitrogen, how much can it help?!
So I did a calculation based on the difference in FC now with the new Xm2. Previously avg 8.8L/100km, that means 42liters gives me around 477km. Now if I assume my avg is 8.0L/100km, then it gives me around 520km. 520 - 477 = extra 43km, or 5.4 liter less (based on 8.0L/100km) 5.4l x $1.9 = $10.20 savings per 42 full tank pump each time $10.20 x 45 weeks (cos I don't use up full tank every week) = $459 savings per year Assuming XM2 can continue help me get more mileage even after 1 year's usage.
Assuming Silervstone M5 185/55R15 is $150/donut, x4 = $600. I paid $900 for 4 XM2 tyres, so paid extra $300.
So if my XM2 do not perform, then most likely the extra $300 I paid to Michelin is just about the same savings I get back from better FC ie. comparing $459 savings versus $300 extra fr Michelin brand.
But, I get to enjoy XM2 for a short period of time lo, I guess that makes Silverstone less interesting, unless they priced it much lower than $150/donut. Anyway, just based on the markings on the tyre itself, this is a big difference:- M5 treadwear = 240 XM2 treadwear = 420, manyak durable la!!
I didn't check what is CC5, but I heard from the tyre shop many customers complaint abt CC5, whereas no one complaint abt XM2.
For long distance drivers, I recommend 195/55R15. But Alza auto, no power la. 4 adults + 2 below 5 yrs old children.... i cannot reach 120kph on the new Latar highway, with 185/55R15.

I think any new tyres would give you less noise. But in my personal experience, pursuing this path is meaningless. It is, in the end, a lower quality car priced wrongly. We can add materials such as insuflex to cover (half) of the whole side doors. What about the windows?
So first, it was very noisy. We can hear motorcycles, lorries, etc... after added insuflex, then we can clearly hear the tyre/uneven road noise. So I change the tyres. Now, without the tyre noise, I start to hear the motorcycles, lorries, etc again, because the window sides are still not properly "patched".
To expect a premium quality car's experience while driving Alza is not impossible, but definitely need a lot of investment in terms of money and effort, just to make all the short comings less irritating.
I may look into adding foam, getting a VS, or swap both of those expenses for a soft-turbo kit. But that is all I would invest in this darn car. Any more investment is meaningless, cos I might as well look at a decent second hand WV.

make some effort to reduce noise, sure get some results. actually insuflex is not the best, cos it is soft. you need more than one layer of material, meaning a combination of soft and harder materials to counter the noise. But don't forget, this is just half the door! A lot of noise comes in from the window too.

I have sat in a Jaguar XJR6 before. It is so much quieter. Oh, I have not done anything on the engine compartment to stop noise coming in. All I have done is the floor and the doors.

I sold to other end users. Trade in no price, cos they want to make profit also. And it ain't rm5 profit per donut.

based on 10k mileage, i suspect you might get a market price of RM400-RM450 if you are lucky. That is half of your RM900 XM2 budget. Can consider kua...
go check in market, what is the actual price for M5, brand new.

I'm on XM2 185/55R15. If you do more city drive then use this size. If you do more long distance drive, then use 195/55R15. Also 185 only 2 longkangs, whiles 195 has THREEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Added on October 31, 2011, 5:33 pmAre you sure you are getting your car back, or your complaints back?

Ya, on the noise inside the car thing.. is exactly the same la. Now I find the aircon noise too low. All these not annoying because there were other noises. So it is like cover up one, then the other appear. Endless, no point. It is a over value car.
