QUOTE(kyrov @ Sep 2 2011, 02:28 PM) not very sure about it because all this while i have been running on Intel HD cause of the optimus prob..I'll update the driver and let ya know and it also depends on what games you play... normal games are stable but intense gaming that really stress the gpu will have slight lag. About the USB 3.0, its the port and controller different, the HDD inside is normal.
Internal ===Port=== External. Those three will determine the speed, with Port that usually bottleneck. After that, depends on the HDD read/write speed to fully utilize the bandwidth. USB 3.0 has 10x bigger bandwidth compared to USB 2.0, but can run until 10x or not depends on your devices. e.g. If you flashdisk only max speed at 10MB/s, you plug to USB 2.0 or USB 3.0, it will only run at 10MB/s, it can't suddenly get upgrade speed when it have reached it max.. |

Run correctly = use gt555m when playing games.
anyway, seems better option is n43sl or k43 if n45 still has that problem. even though there are steps to update the driver,it seems still not working. anyway, thanks for the update. |

QUOTE(kyrov @ Sep 2 2011, 02:53 PM) Run correctly = use gt555m when playing games. well let's just hope asus can solve the throttling problem coz this model is still new. Anyway n43sl or k43 performance wise still lose n45sf as gt555m is about 40% better than gt540m. Thats quite some difference.anyway, seems better option is n43sl or k43 if n45 still has that problem. even though there are steps to update the driver,it seems still not working. anyway, thanks for the update. So if i change a hdd with equivalent speed but higher capacity it still can run at this 65mb/s speed right? unless i change to better speed hdd or ssd then only it can go higher right? This post has been edited by htpkevin: Sep 2 2011, 03:05 PM |

It will depends on that HDD model, some model run faster, some run slower,
Bigger capacity with more layer would only bring the speed down, access time also slower. e.g. 2TB with 3 layer disc vs 2TB with 1 layer disc, the 1 layer disc will have faster transfer rate and access time since it has higher density.. That's why look for the benchmark for that specific model first This post has been edited by lee_what2004: Sep 2 2011, 03:08 PM |

Just curious, external ssd with usb 3.0 how fast the speed can go?
