with tat midfield, we got to the final 3 out of 5 times. And we shud have made it 4 if the ref wasnt so bias against bayern(bommel countless fouls n even on a yellow continued to fou bt the ref said nothing, rafael 2 fouls n he was off). who got a stronger midfield than us? Barca is one, liverpool and sunderland(drew wit liverbestmidfieldeverpool) are the others..n maybe real at a push. Apart frm the spanish n english sides, the other teams arent tat impressive.
*
too many fans are just too media brain washed into thinking "big name signings".
if memory serves me right we haven't done very well signing big name midfielders...think cyruff, veron, hargo.

Yeah, player to player, our midfield do look ordinary. But when you put all the players together, they have always perform well. Most amazing thing about our team is not their ability, but rather their mentality IMHO. You could clearly see the hunger in Cleverley and Welbeck. And Evans has been like a new signing for us.

it is that teamwork & x-factor!
individual talent only goes so far. rolleyes.gif

It means the youth under 21 can play for the team without registration. and we can who will be considered as a homegrown player. I think a team need at least 8 players homegrown right whether train at a club or nation right?

looking at our squad it looks like we have alot of legroom to maneuver.

the reason we cannot stick with same player with same formation

a)fixture congestion
b)no winter break
c)international match
d)every player to proves his quality
e)keep the morale high

plus SAF has different players for different needs.

just look at our strikers they aren't swappable they bring a different dimension when they on the pitch.

yup. to make it simple.
Roo-Complete striker, can defend, can pass (long or short) ,dribble and poach. his technical is improving by every game

Berba-holding ball type striker. can juggle , do a great positioning to receive ball

Chicarito-ball poacher , good positioning. still got a time to developed into complete striker

Welbeck-energetic and explosive

Owen-a poacher and his ability to read game is good

M.B. Diouf-explosive but still lack of opportunity to proves on the pitch

Macheda- still need time to adjust in the team. for a few appearance from past season, he could be holding ball + poacher type of striker. still young though.
*
though i think macheda will develop into a big targetman kind of player for cagy matches similar in style to Christian Vieri

QUOTE(Sauron76 @ Sep 6 2011, 03:50 PM)
I means the tactics against Arse. Remember during the treble or during the 'Class of 92' season? MU used almost the same tactics every match. Same with Barca since Pep takes over. No matter La Liga or UCL, they stick to their style.

When you keeps change tactics, it may 'disturbed' the form of the players.

Only used plan B, when needed during the match. (leading 2 goals, leading aggregates etc).
*
SAF always picks his strongest / on-form side for the match.
during treble season and now we have a large squad of quality, alot of seniors and youngsters.
every season we have a large squad but not always everyone is capable enough.
this year is the fruit of the labor the youngsters and trainers put into making them SAF certified.
next year looks good too as the academy has a great crop of players.
only with this our success can be sustained.

i don't really care what tactic or style SAF plays as long as we win.
who cares if you can play beautiful football but always lose?

arsene wenger and pep guardiola have an ethos and philosophy to win by playing beautiful football.
nothing wrong with that but when that is the perfect they seek when it doesn't work they find it difficult to think of something else that will work.

SAF and JM are similar in that they play to win, no matter the opposition, tactic, etc.
they are constantly looking to find better ways to beat the opposition.
the united way is never to change tactic when leading a match by goals or by aggregate.
the united way is to hammer them until they 8-2 see the replay.
any united fan will know when the team gets a goal in and the morale is high that is when the flood gates will open and the opposition goalkeeper will wish he was on MC that day.

great tactic by SAF coz he knows those two will never leave Barca that is why he compares them to PS coz they are high quality that will never play in our kit so we as fans cannot really compare. if we compare PS to WS and if somehow we sign him next year and he cannot perform .... it doesn't look good.
