Just ordered the 2412M with 5 year warranty for 790. A slight discount but I'm happy with that. Can't wait till it arrives.

Yup2, I chatted with a SA and he got me this price. Didn't had to haggle at all. First time ask straight give me this price. So I was quite happy with him.

pack it back into its original shipping box?

Thought about that too but i also have to bring my desktop (haf 912) with me as well so i have no idea how to pack those things. add to the fact that the airport workers usually handle the cargo roughly i get worried. sigh.

Well, its time to claim warranty in this case. Its abnormal if you're seeing it on black screen only. What about other colors? Do you see the blue-ish patch as well?
*
Nope I can't see it on other colours. Only black. I think other colours mask the patch thats why i didn't noticed before. So if I ask for a replacement, do they replace it with a brand new monitor or do dell give me a refurbished unit? Or do they actually take my monitor and fix it?

What are good ways to test monitors? To check for dead pixels, different colour tint etc.?

Man I love dell's warranty. I called them yesterday about my monitor, got the new just now. Everything on the new monitor looks ok. Very happy right now.

Added on September 13, 2011, 12:01 pmaahh great. I guess I spoke too soon. Ok so on a white screen, I can see some bands moving in a wave-like movement. Its not obvious but i can notice it if i find it. Its like i can see the refresh cycle or something like that. Is that normal? If I choose to ignore it, does it have a bad effect on my monitor?

Currently using VGA cause im using my laptop. Once my desktop is built i'll be using DVI. Do you think it has something to do with the vga connection?

You call them and they will send a courier to your house. Very simple. Supposed to put the old monitor into the new monitor box and return that box to them. But i gave them my box instead.

wow, sounds great!  thumbup.gif At the same time, them also bring a new replace unit to you?
*
Yup, the courier gives the new monitor to you, replace it with the old one, sign some papers then its done.

QUOTE(wildwestgoh @ Sep 13 2011, 03:52 PM)
FYI, my monitor also got this so-called refresh from my laptop through VGA cables, and only happens on certain range of colors so it's fine, it's just the analogue signal problem, some older laptop has it worst.
You can however try to clean the port of the VGA cable or at the laptop, it might improve slightly but no guarantee.
There's electronic contacts cleaner, or you can use air-compressed can.

Then i guess it has to be the connection then. Thanks for the answers guys.

After going through some homework, I found two suitable monitors to replace my TN monitor. They are:

- IPS236V
- U2312HM

Any recommendation on the above monitor?
I usually use for gaming, watch movies and edit photos.

About USB ports, my keyboard comes with 3 USB ports so it doesn't really bother me to have extra USB ports. I use DVI cable to connect my computer to monitor.

Thanks.

Dell U2312HM for better warranty support from dell and it has a way better stand compared to the LG iirc
