QUOTE(Wii_hunter @ Sep 10 2011, 01:05 PM) Nope I can't see it on other colours. Only black. I think other colours mask the patch thats why i didn't noticed before. So if I ask for a replacement, do they replace it with a brand new monitor or do dell give me a refurbished unit? Or do they actually take my monitor and fix it? If I remember correctly, Dell's warranty policy states that if your monitor is within 21 days old, then you will get a new monitor as a replacement. However, if it's more than that you will get a refurbished unit instead. You should be eligible for a new replacement, but be sure to state that demand out clearly. When I requested for a replacement for my first faulty U2311H when it was just a day old, they sent a refurbished unit to me. |

QUOTE(owikh84 @ Sep 10 2011, 01:28 PM) The box that a refurbished monitor comes in should have the word "refurbished' placed over it. The box size should also be much bigger than a new Dell U2311H's box. Anyway, the refurbished monitor I received is also of an older revision. Additional info : A sticker will also be stuck onto the box with the monitor's model number and with the word "refurbished" on it other than the large sticker on the box to inform you. QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 10 2011, 11:32 PM) I'm still contemplating between the LG IPS236V-PN or Dell UltraSharp U231HM. The response time will only matter greatly if you are watching movies or playing games which are running at an extremely fast pace. Otherwise it will not matter too much, or will not matter at all.Main usages will be entertainment and photos editing. Will mount it on the wall. Between 5ms and 8ms. What is important in a monitor if you do not want any ghosting issues would be its input time. A monitor with a 5ms response time may be better than a monitor with a 8ms response time but if its input time is longer than the monitor with 8ms of response time, it could be worst. Anyway, for most situations no one will be able to notice any form of ghosting on their monitors at all unless it's really really slow. Lets say 20ms of response time with a seriously bad display lag? This post has been edited by TDUEnthusiast: Sep 11 2011, 12:07 AM |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 11 2011, 12:24 AM) Thanks guys for the input, it seems the Dell U2312HM still wins ya? I heard that the LG monitor has a horrible stand I thought of getting the LG tomorrow from LYP Viewnet. Looks like I'll need to sit down and consider again. If you prefer stand functionality and the industrial sort of look then the Dell U2312HM would be the way to go. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 11 2011, 12:29 AM) Ah ha! That I agree. I'm so used to the industrial look of Dell monitors because I'm using it in the office as dual display. Dell also offers a much better warranty policy than what LG offers. Still, since I'm going to mount it on the wall, I guess that doesn't matter anymore. The LG IPS236V-PN only has one year of warranty, and you're going to have to visit their service center to get it replaced. |

QUOTE(eyedeal @ Sep 17 2011, 02:30 PM) sorry to bump in here... but dont know where to post.. i wanted to use my LCD HDTV as my monitor via hdmi.. i though it's a plug and play thing but although i was able to actually use it as my monitor for my notebook, i find the picture color and contrast is a bit different from the one on display on my notebook screen.. To do that you should adjust your HDTV's screen color and contrast via its menu.any suggestions and comments on this.. can anyone show me the correct way so that i could have an exact match of picture quality on both of my monitors.. thanks!!! |

QUOTE(wildwestgoh @ Sep 17 2011, 02:53 PM) Wonder colorimeter works on those LCD TV, I haven heard/saw any on this, mostly on monitors. His situation doesn't seem to require 100% accurate colors, so asking him to calibrate the HDTV by his eyes would be sufficient Anyway, low-end IPS already become really affordable enough for everyone (remember those days 1200p TN cost a boom), which is why I still recommend low-end IPS to anyone looking for 1080p either for Movies or Casual FPS and normal gaming. Other than that, a 120Hz monitor much suitable for hardcore FPS gaming is definitely on the list for those who can afford. |

QUOTE(timothyy @ Sep 19 2011, 03:56 PM) He! He! After reading this... I kinda syiok sendiri. The IPS236V-PN supports VESA mounting, which means you can mount it to a wall. Wanna ask... If I put up 2 monitors... When I play game, a fullscreen game, can the other monitor used as doing other thing like surfing and etc? Coz, then, my old monitor can be utilised. He! He! He!... For such setup, will it drain the CPU usage? I mean if I built a new rig, i5 2500k, SSD, 8GB ram, GTX 560 Ti GC... Playing some online game, will it make the whole system too slow or someting? Thanks. And by the way, the LG IPS236V-PN, can it be wall mounted or I need the orignal stand no matter how... Anyway, you can use your extra monitor to display other things on your desktop and et cetera. However, from my experience if you want to access the other screen you will have to alt-tab out of the game first if it's in full screen mode, which is pretty much pointless since it minimizes the game, unless you run your game(s) under windowed mode. Performance wise it shouldn't be affected significantly unless the game is extended or stretched across to the other screen. |

QUOTE(timothyy @ Sep 19 2011, 04:23 PM) Ohhhhhh... It will be like that unless you set your game to run in windowed mode. So, when I alt+tab, that game will be minimise instead? Was hoping that at 1 monitor, I can surf, MSN, LYN... Another one the game is still running. So, let's say an online game, I am farming, I can let it run while I surf on the other one. So, what you are saying now is... if I ALT+TAB, that game will be minimised eventhough I am working on another monitor but I cant see the game running? |

Judging from his posts he just want to be able to see the game he's running while browsing through the net and et cetera from the other, so windowed mode for his game(s) will do fine.

QUOTE(jackyyong @ Nov 8 2011, 03:34 PM) Are LCD / LED monitors suitable for photoshop works? Pls dun ask me to buy CRT though, for size reasons, I can't accommodate a CRT on my work desk. Which LCD / LED model is suitable for photoshop? I'm looking for size of around 24 inch. Is the Dell U2410 good? Or are there any cheaper alternatives? The U2410 is good, but it's expensive. It is however recommended if you intend to do professional image editing as it has a H-IPS panel. A cheaper alternative would be the U2412M for RM899 from Dell Online |
