Mate, you expected professionalism from a brownie point hunting scum? I don't blame him, he was borned jealous of LFC but I rather blame his producers because if they allowed this kinda of a scum remark, then they are to be held fully accountable. But then again that show is crap ever since Jamie Yeo left. Now they included some scum juice on a crap show means you can now definitely flush it down the sewer, where both of it belongs  blush.gif

trust me mate...either

1. he will be asked to tone down by his producers

or

2. he wont last long...

get used to it guys...there is very little loyalty left in football...money, pride, ambition...these things are more valuable than loyalty...

wont blame Raul though.....at least until we know the real story....that goal during torres' `big' Chelsea debut will always be priceless...Thanks Raul...perhaps the only good outcome from Roy's tenure

but back to loyalty...get used to it....they'll kiss the badge today and be gone tomorrow...Owen, Mascherano, Alonso, Bellamy (u turn even), Yossi...

As much as i am excited about Suarez...give it another 1-2 years if he continue to sparkle like this....i am not surprised he will engineer a move elsewhere...I hope not, but that's football...so enjoy every players we have now..and give proper credit to the likes of Gerrard, Carragher..who stayed on..

i think KD already has a big name replacement for Raul..
and there's no need to wait for the transfer window..

heard this player can play a bit...led his club to CL glory few years back...took the team from jaw of defeat in the FA cup...
he's got some good rest and looks hungry..i am sure he's eager to play and cant wait to be paired up with Adams, Lucas and provide services to people like Downing and Suarez...

so, heads up mate...

well, i do miss Raul...his tattoo and hairstyle and punkish ways..hahaha

but he did linked up quite well with Suarez in our last match...hopefully Stevie G will play that role...

at end of day, i think its a combination of many factors..the current management not being able to fulfill what the previous management promised and the possibility of linking up with AVB...
although i am not sure how much playing chances he'll be getting at Chelsea, unless AVB has secret plans to drop some current regulars and revamp the first -11 according to his own playing style..

To be honest, we are not that worried about Meireles departure. The real issue here that the conundrum here is that star players no longer want to play for Liverpool and this trend is very unsettling. We need to look at the bigger picture.

Then again,  when u keep on buying unproven overrated English players for a ballooned fee it doesn't help that much either.

I only fear that we may become the next Arsenal.
*
well, the first part of your post is true and something we need to learn to accept...
In the old days, even Rush left when Juve kept calling...Keegan left when continental football was offered ...
Only a handful stayed back...Dalglish (wonder if any Spanish or Italian teams ever came knocking), Barnes, ...even Gerrard was tempted more than once...

After the Torres lesson and also Alonso, Masca, player wanting to stay long with Liverpool will be a rarity... I wont be surprised if Suarez leaves us if he reaches his peak in another 2-3 years...such is football...

even C. Ronaldo and Fabregas left....it seems that in some ways, the pastures are greener in Spain or Italy...so i dont think this problem is limited to Liverpool...as of now, only Chelsea and Man City can splash the cash to match the wages....

as for buying British footballers at premium, i have to agree that it is risky...in fact Rooney and Rio are the only few examples of expensive British players worth every single cent...i am hoping Carrol will be one...

I don't know exactly the point you are trying to bring to the table when you said Arsenal become like Liverpool after that 8-2 thrashing but I sure as hell know what I'm saying when I said

"We may become the next Arsenal"

as I was pointing to the fact that star players like Nasri and Cesc began to lose confidence at the club because the club wasn't spending their money wisely and investing on duds instead of proven quality players which eventually led to their departure.
*
Anyone having the talents and age of Cesc, coupled with his love for Barca will be crazy not to leave and rejoin Barca...
there's nothing Arsene could have done..Cesc loves the city, his roots..in fact, he recently revealed that he watches 98% of their matches....
and with the kind of football that Barca is playing and the way Cesc plays the game..its a transfer waiting to happen....

Nasri? seems he wants $ and wants to train with superstars week in and week out...not train with young teenagers...

Raul left us for very different reasons...

He hand in a Transfer Out request just like Torres and it was on the last day of the transfer window doh.gif

I think its a simple case of if everything works out for him, he would have stayed. But it didnt, so he had to make a decision...

Its not the same with Nasri or Cesc...or Modric....all whom blatantly declared their intention to leave for quite some time..

i just read that Arteta accepted a pay cut....from 75k a week to 55k...just to join Arsenal...
a good example that there are players out there who are willing to take a pay cut to play CL football and play for a big club...

QUOTE(carloz28 @ Sep 1 2011, 01:18 PM)
Regardless of whatever REASON they left, does it really relevant that much in this discussion?

The point is, they all left to join other teams because they figure they will have a better chance of winning silverware elsewhere but not in Liverpool.

You think by moving to Chelsea, Meireles will get to start in more games than he was in Liverpool? Of course not, he will be benched just like another squad player just like how he was in Liverpool. But he certainly feel more comfortable and higher chance of winning having surrounded by more quality players around him.

Why Nasri or Cesc's departure are deemed irrrelevant? They left Arsenal with the same thing in mind, to join a stronger army hence giving them a better chance of winning. So does Torres. Mind you , Mascherano joined Barca to warm their bench eventhough he was a starting 11 in Liverpool.

Put yourself in Meireles's position, you have been offered a chance to move to a stronger team, will you take the plunge? I'm not alluding that we are not on par with Chelsea, but unless we start winning games consistently and silverware and able to KEEP HOLD of our good players, our players will continued to be poached by rivals without any loose change.
*
To be fair, offers did come in for Reina, Dagger and even Kuyt...they stayed...
So, some players will find it easier to move, some will find it more worthwhile to stay. I doubt it has to do with Liverpool being a `smaller club'. Of course, i must admit, its very hard to stay if Madrid or Barca comes calling. CR7 won everything with Man Utd...but when Madrid came knocking with the $ and the fact that its Real Madrid....he left without even looking back...

I think the management felt that if Meireles wants to leave, its okay because the midfield is covered.

to be fair, we dont know the real reason Raul left....

to be fair, he looked like a useful player under Kenny's pass and move football...

and if he left simply because of one reason....because the club refused to increase his 35k weekly wages..then yes....i am a little disappointed..because i think he is worth it....

but if he wants to leave because he wants more first team football, or he like AVB or he thinks Chelsea can offer him a medal sooner than us, then there's nothing we can do. Look at the bright side.....Kenny has other players capable of providing good options too...so that's good news..

both have excellent reading of the games for behind. pace wasnt hamann's forte esp when we had succession of games. i remember in GH era, where against the likes of traditional english mid-lower clubs using long balls we were often caught out of position. in those games, their swift counter attacks almost made hamann non existent. I use to curse "oh no, not again" when under GH we have not been known to be a club which scores a handful of goals.

in this respect sissoko covered more ground defensively (except sissoko's ball control / reading of the game was not in hamann's class). Masherano was almost as good as hamann's reading but had better energy/pace in entire game.
*
i think Hamman's `legendary' status was cemented after the release of that classical parody of what happened in the Istanbul dressing room..I almost choked when `Rafa' said `he smokes...' hahahha!!

chances are there. Stoke is never easy to play against. Also, we're limiting their chances, albeit a very soft penalty.
IF this continue in 2nd half, hopefully we can sneak a draw.

Current results elsewhere not very good for us. Hope the 2nd half will bring better news.

come on...Coates in for first game against the likes of stoke? You sure?
i think Carra is the right choice...it was a soft penalty....
but we gave away an early penalty..the boys have more than an hour to find the goals...they didnt..

We didnt play poor..plenty of misses..

If there's anything i am worried is that both Henderson and Carroll look like very normal players....Henderson is still young and he is `covered' by the others ore experienced midfielders...
But without a striker that is threatening to complement Suarez and receive contributions from the likes of Adams, Downing...we will find it hard on days such as this...

i think i am more unhappy that all our rivals picked up maximum points...

DISAPPOINTING!!!!

I really don't understand why KD didn't sub in Caroll earlier. Kuyt obviously didn't and can't do anything at all against Stoke's strong and tall defenders. All the attempts of goals came from the wings. Were they expecting Kuyt and Suarez to head them in? And Carra.... Adam looked tired. You can really see. No spirit at all. I don't f***ing get why he did some of the passing he did.
Henderson HAS got to improve on his finishing. It was 1 vs 1 with the keeper and he decided to go for the middle... Really got to improve the midfield play as well. All I saw was pass forward the middle, pass back then pass to the wings. I don't see how we are gonna go against Man Utd and Man City at this point. KD has to do something!
*
i can understand the frustation with Henderson....but i think realistically, Man U and Man City is just too far ahead of us...
our realistic aspiration this season is the chance is to catch Arsenal, Chelsea (with their new manager but even then, i think he's doing okay) and spurs....and get CL place...Based on what i've been seeing for past few weeks, its do-able..

But we need a more potent goal grabbing striker...

henderson doesn't strike centre.he scuffed his shot.(possibly bcoz of the 'long grass' tactics?)

btw.Meireles assisted chelsea's sturridge goal with a beautiful through ball...
*
that's a strange one...not long ago, we were worried he'll be out after that injury...
and now he played a full game for our rivals!

but he wanted to leave...so all the best to him...

We need someone who can cope with Suarez type of play. KD should've spent more money on good strikers. I'm gonna say it. Henderson and Bellamy are wasted money. He could've got himself a good striker to support Suarez. And Caroll definitely got to lose some weight man. He couldn't run at all...
*
I thinkCarroll will benefit if he spends more time watching how Drogba plays....as much as i hate that brute....that's one striker who is both strong and yet deadly...
