Give Shelvey a try in this coming league cup game against Brighton and see what he can contributes to the team . Otherwise we stick to Lucas + Spearing in midfield covering in midfield and Downing + Henderson/Kuyt + Suarez + Carroll/Bellamy doing all the attacking job . Somehow I miss player like Finnan , simple but effective and it is unbelievable that he able to control the right flank by his own when rafa played Gerrard on right wing.

If Aquilani and Meireles still here , it do benefits us in term of squad depth but no point keeping players that unhappy.I been looking at Aquilani videos on pre-season tour and pictures , he seems doesnt have much friends here and doesn't always smile like other players in training ground. He needs to work on his atheletism and not linger on the ball too much. He struggled against Stoke and completely annihilated by Spurs midfield. Henderson, i can see some qualities in him but is he an upgrade to Kuyt ? Maybe in couple years time but i felt either Kuyt or Maxi should be give n the chance to play yesterday. Carroll looks a bit one dimensional lately, and i think the team knows this which is why we have gone out to buy the lieks of Downing, Enrique and Adam. But as Spurs showed and to certain extent Stoke as well, teams need only to press us to high up sever the link between the midfield and the striker. some of my friends think we just get the tactic wrong yesterday.The real problem is the coaches still cant get the right tactic and formation to utilise Henderson and Carroll.Current coaches should work harder and study more about our opponents next time.
