FML.Anyway its a good thing that the expectations will lower down with a number of our deluded fans who think we are gonna win the league.
Comments on newspaper and websites are embarassing.''this year liverpool will be champion'' ''liverpool will take no 19'' doh.gif

Bring on gerrard and spurs.Spurs are due a thumping from us.Let them be the punching bag for our frustrations.

Forgive the strong words but it's the truth.

Same thing every season.Liverpool lose away to teams like stoke and draw sunderland at home. Then when we play against man utd,we raise our game and play with full spirit for 90minutes.I swear to you this is tiring and sickening.Same old plot for the 10years or so supporting liverpool. The older supporters have witnessed us winning the league but you have to pity the younger ones like me who are subject to crap from man united, chelsea and arsenal fans over the years.

QUOTE(REDShaun @ Sep 11 2011, 01:18 AM)
seriously, I am totally sick of hearing this tune from the "younger" fans. Can't take the heat, go get the glory you deserve with another team. it's easy, just go buy a jersey, switch sides and you will not need to take crap anymore.  cool2.gif

we had 18 shots on target, 10 corners and we had most of the possession. If that is not positive, I have no idea what would please you guys. if winning is all you care for, then this is not the team for you.  blush.gif

Sometimes we will have to learn to take the positives from the game even when we are losing to a side that we had cowered into defending 11 man behind the box. Read the stats, Britannia stadium is not easy to break down. We played the previous 4 games (3 draws and 1 lost) that speaks volumes in terms of their football. if you bothered to look into it, it was a tough test for us. When Hodgson.. OMFG, was around, we won't even be closed to that stats let alone have a chance at winning it. We tried all the way and it wasn't like we gave up, even till the last whistle we were pressing them. Some games are going to be like that and you expect an easy game with a bus parked in their box? Do you even understand what you were watching?

Stoke defended well, we were a bit hard done by a soft penalty and we were more or less not given one with a handball. we had misses but I for one have no complaints over our performance. We lost, we move on. It was a great team performance but as luck would have it, our shots did not end up behind the net.

Please don't bother replying this as it would just show the immaturity of fans like you to continue to whine over 1 lost and to a team like Stoke who are there to play us down with the way they defended. Again let me remind any fans that deems we did badly tonight, go switch colors because I have not been that excited to see so much action from a team that started out so differently from last season.  blush.gif

When you speak like this, the younger generation are turned off from your team. Then it's no wonder why they are opting for chelsea, arsenal and manu.I didnt say we would win the league,if u read my post before the game,i was lowering down expectations. Please dont preach the ''i m a better fan than you'' attitude. It stinks.

There was nothing new in what i saw, everything same to what everyone witnessed in 08-09 season.I still remember, the draw with stoke at anfield was one the reasons why we lost the league.Stoke's style is set that way.You cant change that. They play like that all the time.Dont give excuses that you are playing against 10men defence. If no top four team comes away with a win from stoke then i will apologise to you.You all want us to be the in the top four.I say this result is not good enough. What separates the top four and the rest is being a able to scrap a result even when you have a off day.Sorry to say liverpool are still not that stage yet,let alone be champions.

I think its time for carra to reassess his mistakes and buck up or risk being benched. He is a legend but mistakes like rhis are not good enough.
First against bolton cost pepe his clean sheet and now against stoke. If this continues in the game against spurs kenny better rethink his position in the first team.

dont write off yet. Let Man Utd, City, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea play stoke 1st. then we will see where we should stand. We were on par with Man Utd, if we take Bolton as a benchmark

We have every right to feel frustrated, like Downing said. Do take into consideration what we done on summer transfer, and where we are heading to this season.
*
Isnt that what i said rclxub.gif

Sorry but we are nowhere near man united yet.Sure, we can beat them when head to head but we dont have the consistency and winning mentality like them to beat lesser opponents.
One newcastle fan mentioned yesterday that the reason carroll has been very poor for us is that he doesnt have the same determination and passion like he did when he was in newcastle. If carroll doesnt start firing soon,we are in deep trouble of not reaching top4.

The only reason for me to be optimistic so far is gerrard's return.Henderson is still not first team material yet, downing although very good in runs and giving us width he doesnt really have the end product like ashley young.Adam blows hot and cold.

this is your post:

I don't even need to prove or show if I am a better fan than you are. your post tells me what kind of a fan you are. you just want the team to win so you can be up there with the "winning teams" so that you don't have to be a subject to crap of the other teams your peers support. for me your solution is simple. go join their bandwagon. it's easy, solves your problem and you don't even need to post your frustration in this thread.

I know a lot of younger fans who are more dedicated and watch football for what it is. instead of feeling the subject of crap from their peers who supports other teams they learn to understand what the club is doing and find out more if it was truly a bad performance. sigh, like i said, please don't reply this, it just makes you look more of a "lousy than me fan" without me needing to point it out to you.

so yeah, YNWA  blush.gif

Yeah sorry superfan.I might not be good as you but your arrogance will not stand you in good stead.
And who are you to tell me who i should i support?Mind your own business. You really are putting words into my mouth sweat.gif

Enjoy the way you are. And no apologies needed. You are forgiven.

But to say me of my arrogance, only shows the kind of ignorance that has befallen and deluded some fans here.

and again, YNWA  tongue.gif

Yeah, you take one post of mine and draw conclusions from there.Very intelligent and mature of you.Calling other fans deluded and ignorant is
uncharacteristic of an 'intelligent'' and ''mature'' fan.Stop your drivel

Just to get certain things of your thick skull, what do you say about this post?

Just to lower sky high expectations,we have never won there since they were promoted to EPL.So i think it's fair to comment that this trip is tougher than
Emirates earlier.Arsenal was in all time low with lack of transfers, injuries, loss of key players. On the other hand,Stoke are doing really well, unbeaten in the league and gave thun a thrashing in the europa league plus they have strengthened really well in the transfer window with crouch etc.

BUT,if we play our pass and move game we stand a good chance to win icon_rolleyes.gif
Again, our key to this match is the little magician luis suarez.

You dont have anything to say about this posts, but one post out of frustration and you already take out the sword. You maybe older than me,but if you dont give respect then dont expect the same from me icon_rolleyes.gif

That only shows you contradict your own post. so yeah, wateva mate. I definitely did not ask for any respect from you though. to be fair didn't need that much in the first place.  sweat.gif

You should know better not to reply to people's frustrations especially after a defeat like this.I don't reply back to those who are angry and frustrated.
And where did i contradict my post,i didnt expect us to win 3-0 or 4-0.But as fan at heart,i didnt want defeat and was definitely disappointed with the result.
Yeah continue belittling others and giving indirect insults, you wont get any even if you ask for it. biggrin.gif

Now we have good owners,we dont have CL to attract the players. cry.gif

This may sound contradictory from me but i think maxi should have came on as sub against stoke and i believe he would have scored a goal.
His finishing is really cool and would have put off any of the chances henderson and adam had.I dunno if its me but i think
all argentinians have this trait. blush.gif

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Sep 16 2011, 02:37 PM)
Hope you took what I wrote in context of the article that was published in the Star. Normeck has posted it up.

I can't speak on behalf of all Liverpool fans but I feel that it is because of our past that certain standards have been set. Expectations from the media at least have always been high. Each season you'd see the media building up our chances and unfairly so. As much as we can except that we are no longer a "top four" side, we can still believe. Just to digress a little, I don't buy that there is a "big four" in England. It is only really the "big two" until either Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City or whoever have their own era of dominance.

If indeed we're using the past as a comfort pillow, is it really all that bad? From our perspective, it keeps us believing and I don't see this as a bad thing. I agree however that using this as an offensive weapon can get tiresome but I use it primarily to remind myself why I support Liverpool and to help share with new fans why they should continue to do so. I've always advocated the importance of reading up about the club and I'm glad that some fans here have done so.

Istanbul has come and gone and yes, it does seem like yesterday to someone like me. It's the first time I've seen Liverpool life the European Cup with my own eyes and I continue to recount each moment, each tale that's told and I do search for it over youtube. I can understand how it seems like plain talk to anyone else as you don't have a sentimental attachment to the occasion but when I recount especially how the fans got behind the team, it gives me strength to face the criticism and stick we get from our rivals. It also fills me with pride and reminds me to get behind the team especially when they are down. We've not won anything in 5 seasons but I really don't feel it. It makes me admire the passion of Liverpool fans even more and inspires me to be a better fan. This is why I talk about Istanbul, not because we won a football game or a shiny silver trophy.

Like you say, the past is something we should never forget but also something we should seek to discover as fans. I look to the past for inspiration and hope as I think some do. Forget the achievements. Reading, knowing and talking about the past reminds us why we support the club and I talk about it all the time in hope that newer fans will be increasingly loyal because of it.
Correct. He's right about one thing though. We do believe.
*
Good one.I have been resisting myself to reply to those naive comments.Seems that they are more interested in liverpool than their own team. That entire section has become a liverpool bashing section. The sports and entertainment section is the only worthwhile thing in that paper. Now that sports section is being invaded by their silly fans comments i am considering cancelling my subscription to relief myself the daily dose of drivel and bs. sweat.gif

But some of our fans comments dont help either.''This year the kops will be champion'' etc but i would like to think that the majority of liverpool fans are intelligent and realistic in aiming for top 4 not the league title. As for manchester utd fans post on the star, try to talk some sense and stop embarassing the genuine fans of your club.

All the time predict liverpool defeat. doh.gif
