seriously, I am totally sick of hearing this tune from the "younger" fans. Can't take the heat, go get the glory you deserve with another team. it's easy, just go buy a jersey, switch sides and you will not need to take crap anymore. 

we had 18 shots on target, 10 corners and we had most of the possession. If that is not positive, I have no idea what would please you guys. if winning is all you care for, then this is not the team for you. 

Sometimes we will have to learn to take the positives from the game even when we are losing to a side that we had cowered into defending 11 man behind the box. Read the stats, Britannia stadium is not easy to break down. We played the previous 4 games (3 draws and 1 lost) that speaks volumes in terms of their football. if you bothered to look into it, it was a tough test for us. When Hodgson.. OMFG, was around, we won't even be closed to that stats let alone have a chance at winning it. We tried all the way and it wasn't like we gave up, even till the last whistle we were pressing them. Some games are going to be like that and you expect an easy game with a bus parked in their box? Do you even understand what you were watching?

Stoke defended well, we were a bit hard done by a soft penalty and we were more or less not given one with a handball. we had misses but I for one have no complaints over our performance. We lost, we move on. It was a great team performance but as luck would have it, our shots did not end up behind the net.

Please don't bother replying this as it would just show the immaturity of fans like you to continue to whine over 1 lost and to a team like Stoke who are there to play us down with the way they defended. Again let me remind any fans that deems we did badly tonight, go switch colors because I have not been that excited to see so much action from a team that started out so differently from last season. 

dont write off yet. Let Man Utd, City, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea play stoke 1st. then we will see where we should stand. We were on par with Man Utd, if we take Bolton as a benchmark

We have every right to feel frustrated, like Downing said. Do take into consideration what we done on summer transfer, and where we are heading to this season.

Same thing every season.Liverpool lose away to teams like stoke and draw sunderland at home.Then when we play against man utd,we raise our game and play with full spirit for 90minutes.I swear to you this is tiring and sickening.Same old plot for the 10years or so supporting liverpool.The older supporters have witnessed us winning the league but you have to pity the younger ones like me who are subject to crap from man united,chelsea and arsenal fans over the years.

I don't even need to prove or show if I am a better fan than you are. your post tells me what kind of a fan you are. you just want the team to win so you can be up there with the "winning teams" so that you don't have to be a subject to crap of the other teams your peers support. for me your solution is simple. go join their bandwagon. it's easy, solves your problem and you don't even need to post your frustration in this thread.

I know a lot of younger fans who are more dedicated and watch football for what it is. instead of feeling the subject of crap from their peers who supports other teams they learn to understand what the club is doing and find out more if it was truly a bad performance. sigh, like i said, please don't reply this, it just makes you look more of a "lousy than me fan" without me needing to point it out to you.

Hope you took what I wrote in context of the article that was published in the Star. Normeck has posted it up.

I can't speak on behalf of all Liverpool fans but I feel that it is because of our past that certain standards have been set. Expectations from the media at least have always been high. Each season you'd see the media building up our chances and unfairly so. As much as we can except that we are no longer a "top four" side, we can still believe. Just to digress a little, I don't buy that there is a "big four" in England. It is only really the "big two" until either Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City or whoever have their own era of dominance.

If indeed we're using the past as a comfort pillow, is it really all that bad? From our perspective, it keeps us believing and I don't see this as a bad thing. I agree however that using this as an offensive weapon can get tiresome but I use it primarily to remind myself why I support Liverpool and to help share with new fans why they should continue to do so. I've always advocated the importance of reading up about the club and I'm glad that some fans here have done so.

Istanbul has come and gone and yes, it does seem like yesterday to someone like me. It's the first time I've seen Liverpool life the European Cup with my own eyes and I continue to recount each moment, each tale that's told and I do search for it over youtube. I can understand how it seems like plain talk to anyone else as you don't have a sentimental attachment to the occasion but when I recount especially how the fans got behind the team, it gives me strength to face the criticism and stick we get from our rivals. It also fills me with pride and reminds me to get behind the team especially when they are down. We've not won anything in 5 seasons but I really don't feel it. It makes me admire the passion of Liverpool fans even more and inspires me to be a better fan. This is why I talk about Istanbul, not because we won a football game or a shiny silver trophy.

Like you say, the past is something we should never forget but also something we should seek to discover as fans. I look to the past for inspiration and hope as I think some do. Forget the achievements. Reading, knowing and talking about the past reminds us why we support the club and I talk about it all the time in hope that newer fans will be increasingly loyal because of it.
