no excuse for the match over the weekend. we were outplayed, outgunned and definitely outfoxed by Harry. but very much 50% has to come from the wrong tactics selected before play.
everyone knows RB position trying to man mark Bale is a mighty feat. Skrtel was the wrong man for the job - period. Flanagan "might" do better (maybe not). But Bale was given too much space and we weren't able to control the likes of Parker and Modric for giving us the run around. to be fair Lucas played very well, without him the end results could have been worst - fact.
now there are positives (maybe i am optimistic) and it was because of this wrong tactic, we either get stronger or we implode like Arsenal. but then again i highly doubt that would be the case. we can see that the front with carroll + suarez will not work, KD had to try it, it could be to finish off any doubts he or the players has about that combination. Kuyt + Suarez or Bellamy would have worked with a quick pacy team like Spurs. We are likely to lose some confidence but to quote "doom and gloom" is too much i would say.
There is a nice little article about our performance thus far and it's a good read. here's the link:
http://www.empireofthekop.com/anfield/2011...r-just-5-games/I don't think our players are below par, and i am very sure there is a reason they are bought. I am no football manager but I have seen the lot of you criticising Lucas way before the praise started to come in. I have also seen Xabi endure some manner of flak before he started to gel and spraying diagonal OMFG crosses around the pitch.
Fans are a funny lot, they praise the team to no ends when the results are going good without realising that when results stops "all hell breaks loose" and it's 2012 disaster movie once again.
KD got the tactics wrong, the RB couldn't cope with Bale, our midfield was missing and the ref.. well to be fair he was doing his job (bias maybe but i doubt it). Like Kenny said, Spurs played great, don't take that away from them. we were taught a football lesson and its a lesson well learned if we can pick ourselves up - for both the fans and the players
YNWA!
