Anybody knows how is the job market for a electronics engineer in Australia and which state would have better work opportunities?

PR visa cost is A$2960 as at now..i still remembered when i applied, its only A$2k..:-)
in MY will be more than that i guess..

During my time..
Visa -> A$2k (its A$2960 now)
IELTS -> RM510
Medicals -> RM150
PCC -> RM20
Skills assessment -> A$300

Now, you need to check for the updated fees...and also factor in agent fees is you are engaging one..

Skill assessment fees could be different for different occupations no?

Why do you need a state sponsor when you already have sufficient points? Being sponsored will only give you further restrictions on where you can stay.

I think the passing mark is 60 at the moment. As long as you are over 60 it should be fine. smile.gif

i was wondering, this thread says alot about getting 8 on IELTS
and wikipedia shows that Malaysia is top country with highest average.

I got a couple of questions in mind, which I hope LYN people will be able to answer:
1. Where do I register for IELTS?
2. Do I need to attend classes or it's optional?
3. Cost of exam fee for IELTS
4. Any websites which I can learn and practice on

Thanks in advance!
*
1. A couple of places ie IDP or British Council. Google up their offices and give them a call.
2. Up to you, classes will require separate fees. No prerequisite that you need to attend classes before sitting for exam.
3. RM580 when I last checked in IDP
4. Plenty, just need to google.

Why don't go with the typical 189, 190 or 489 type of visa?

Calculate your possible points first, and see if you can make 60. Look for state sponsorship for that particular job code you nominated to make sure it can reach 60.

That said, even if you do not have sufficient work experience you still need to ACS to accredit your qualifications so that you can nominate a job code in the SOL list. I'm not too sure how ACS does the accessing you might need to find out.

Bad news if you planning to come  with your spouse/wife/family to Australia for work. DIAC just announced there will be fees for second or more applicant that attached to primary applicant. Eg. subclass 189 will have to pay $1.5k for secondary applicant which mean $3060+$1.5k

Wow... that is substantial increase in fees esp for families

I believe listening and speaking sections are areas which you can practice and be able to score higher with better preparation.

Writing to me should be the toughest, the time allotted itself is also just enough that you have no margin for massive rewrites or lengthy compositions. So just try to write simple and concise within the required word count, and most importantly do not make any gross tense or vocab mistakes.

For speaking, if you retake the test in Malaysia, you could get a local examiner and they might be slightly lenient since they are more accustomed to Malaysian English.

This is my opinion and I could be wrong.

For books my advice is to pick one up from any IELTS center, ask them to recommend one. I got mine from IDP and it really helped me in my preparation.

I think a small investment on books is worth it for such an expensive test.

Additional practices you can get online.

It's past 1 July. Fee increased means lesser offshore applicants. I can see many offshore especially from India and Pakistan are on hold because they have to get extra funds for wife and kids, $1.5k for secondary applicant is not much in Australia but in India can do a lot of things.

Hopefully this can let immi to keep up all of the outstanding EOI invitations and don't have to wait any longer for new EOI application invitation

I agree. This increases the cost for families that want to migrate. Even children are charged for application, a family of 4 (parents + 2 kids) will see a 2x increase in visa fees, if my understanding is correct.

Just got back from the migration agent and I could apply PR under state sponsoring for unit group 5111 contract, program and project administrators (occupations 511112 program or project administrator). PR approval will take less than 18months. They charge us AUD12730 (rm39500) and I think it's a big sum for me. Charges breakdown as below:

Qualification Assessment Stage
Qualification Assessment Fees - AUS700 (rm2170)
Experience Assessment Fees - AUS700 (rm2170)
Agent Fees - AUD2000 (rm6200)

EOI Stage
Fees - AUD500 (rm1550)

State Sponsorship Stage
Fees - AUD1250 (rm3875)

DIAC Stage
Fees - AUD3520 (rm10912)
Agent Fees - AUD1000 (rm3100)

Spouse Visa - AUD1530 (rm4743)
Kids Visa - AUD765 x 2 = AUD1530 (rm4743)
My question is, could I apply for PR on my own to bring down the cost as I'm unsure of the procedures. How long does it usually takes for approval if we apply on our own? In this case, would it take longer than 18months approval for self application?
*
Just curious why do you need two separate assesments? And I thought EOI was free?

Total agent fees = 2000+1000 = 3000. Looks about correct.

Do you have sufficient points? If not you can save AUD1250 by not going for state sponsorship

agent told me that I could go for the state sponsor for an additional 5 points that make it 65points in total. State sponsor under perth as other state or region are all closed. This is my only way to apply PR they said. I use the visa estimator from IMMI and the estimated price for applying PR is AUD5280, is this real? AUD5280 to AUD12730 that agent charges is a huge different. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

Passing points is 60. But if like another forummer said, if your jobcode is only in CSOL then you need sponsorship.
