HI all,

How are things going on for the IT industry over there?
Still in good demand of IT jobs / programmers (or ABAP) or even game development?

Is this industry specific / place you're living in or affects the whole country when looking for jobs?

Here are couple of interesting anecdotes.

Mid level/senior IT consultants - on Linkedin - approx 170 applications per job
Engineering grads - 3000+ applications per job
Accounting roles - 400+ applications per job

U do the math.

If I am a recruiter and receive 400 applications per job, how would I shortlist?
Answer: experience almost 100% match JD.

Thanks for the info.

With those jobs having such high application rates, how would it be recommendable for people who wish to migrate there?
It's probably good for those who have skills which are highly in demand there, but how will it benefit engineers / IT guys to make the transition?

What I'm seeing for now is for those who wish to migrate:
-Move over and obtain any jobs willing to hire due to zero 'local' experience. Make do with what you have until you hopefully strike it with a job you want.
-Land yourself a job before moving over, which is probably a better choice, but how does the zero 'local' experience apply to this?

As an IT guy, it feels like it's probably a very tough or bad time to migrate to Aus.
