I personally think racist happens everywhere, even Singaporean look down on Malaysian. I have a question to ask regarding PR, is it easier to apply for PR if you have job sponsorship by AU company? Will it be as easy as getting PR in SG after working for 1 or 2 years in AU, and then you can apply for AU PR?

I might potentially get a job in AU, and need to start looking for accomodation. Company location is in Melbourne. Is anyone here looking for housemate?

May I know who is currently working in AU under 457 visa? I hope to find out more about LAFHA stuff.I got an unofficial offer, the company that I really wish to join is paying low salary hence I want to know if there is any chance to increase the take home salary. Thanks!! I have to decide soon if I want to take this offer.

Hey Melbournian, just thought of surveying around good place (or safe place) to live in Melbourne. Please share your experience? I am planning to move out soon from my current place.

I have just started working here like 4 mths back, somehow I enjoy my new life here. The whole city is still new to me, so full of surprise everyday. smile.gif I have also met a few malaysians here who have been working here for the past 10 years (including 4 years studying). Most of them intend to go back to Malaysia in the near future. It is kind of a big surprise to me. Nevertheless, grass is always greener on the other side.

Hi guys,

I've currently got an employer in Sydney interested to take me there (sponsored work visa).

But I've got a lot of concerns regarding tax, rent, basically will I be able to survive with the salary package given. (80k including allowances and super.)

Assuming after taxes, I have around 4.5k disposable cash, how much is the minimum I need to survive and still be able to save? thanks

If you rent a 1 bedroom apartment, it costs about 400aud (per week)? I suppose 4.5K should be enough if you are single. You should be able to save if you spend cautiously. Living expense in Sydney is the highest in AU. Working in Sydney will be interesting, it will be like another 'KL' city, though I have not worked in Sydney before.

Dear malaysian in melbourne, where is the best place to count down? tongue.gif

My ideal place is somewhere nearby Alberk Park or South Melbourne, so that I can go to the MSAC stadium anytime that I want. I am a bit picky, prefer to live in a house with a garden, which I think it is a bit hard to find in those area. I don't mind sharing. The current place that I live is 7km away from the city. Hence it is a bit hassle for me to travel especially after a late night sport session. I am happy to live in the current place, in fact I am living with an aussie landlord. The experience is terrific. Tough decision, to move or to stay.
