I'm a graphic designer. I'm married with 2 kids (3 years old & 5 years old) and would want to apply for PR in Australia. I would want to give my kids a better education and environment hence I consider migrating. I've previously being assess by Rayford Migration Service and I'm employed at that moment. I started my own design company 3 years back and I'm self employed now.

I would want to know whats the procedure of submitting everything without the use of agent. I heard buying properties in Australia is also eligible on PR applications. Could someone enlighten me on this and thanks in advance.

I think you are referring to Significant Investor visa which includes having properties in Australia for PR application. It must have a minimum amount of investment interest recognized by the oz government.

The Significant Investor visa is a new stream of the Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional subclass 188) and the Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent subclass 888) visa.

Visa applicants must:

Be nominated by a state or territory government
make an investment of at least $5 million into complying investments.

You can check immigration website for more details such as http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/business/_p...nt-investor.pdf

http://www.business.nsw.gov.au/live-and-wo...t-investor-visa

5 million is way off my budget. guess subclass 189 is my last bet.

I think the visa you're mentioning is more on subclass 888 (investment). This 1 you've to pump in big chunk of money.
Please note that this may be temporary visa only (not sure) which some not entitle for benefit, have to check DIAC website.
Buying property in Australia is easy, as long you've got money.
If you intend to DIY, just check thru DIAC website on skillselect. You've to submit EOI and your IELTS result. Please bear in mind it's getting harder to get visa to Australia now coz they're restricting immigrants coming in and it's an issue almost every year.
Try to check any other visa might suit you

Thanks for the heads up, I've check under the Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
Occupation List 2013-14. Graphic designer is closed and no longer available. Guess I'm out of luck.

Just got back from the migration agent and I could apply PR under state sponsoring for unit group 5111 contract, program and project administrators (occupations 511112 program or project administrator). PR approval will take less than 18months. They charge us AUD12730 (rm39500) and I think it's a big sum for me. Charges breakdown as below:

Qualification Assessment Stage
Qualification Assessment Fees - AUS700 (rm2170)
Experience Assessment Fees - AUS700 (rm2170)
Agent Fees - AUD2000 (rm6200)

EOI Stage
Fees - AUD500 (rm1550)

State Sponsorship Stage
Fees - AUD1250 (rm3875)

DIAC Stage
Fees - AUD3520 (rm10912)
Agent Fees - AUD1000 (rm3100)

Spouse Visa - AUD1530 (rm4743)
Kids Visa - AUD765 x 2 = AUD1530 (rm4743)

My question is, could I apply for PR on my own to bring down the cost as I'm unsure of the procedures. How long does it usually takes for approval if we apply on our own? In this case, would it take longer than 18months approval for self application?

Just curious why do you need two separate assesments? And I thought EOI was free?

Total agent fees = 2000+1000 = 3000. Looks about correct.

Do you have sufficient points? If not you can save AUD1250 by not going for state sponsorship
*
agent told me that I could go for the state sponsor for an additional 5 points that make it 65points in total. State sponsor under perth as other state or region are all closed. This is my only way to apply PR they said. I use the visa estimator from IMMI and the estimated price for applying PR is AUD5280, is this real? AUD5280 to AUD12730 that agent charges is a huge different. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

that was like 2x more than you do your own. IS that subclass 190?

Not sure why there are 2 assessment stage as I believe the body of skill assessment will only charge once and that's including qualification and experience(like I can submit the skill assessment to ACS to assess my education and experience in one cost)

There is no fee for EOI. It is a free assessment and only pay when you get invited to do the PR application

Which state you applying for? AFAIK, NSW only charged about $300-400 for state nomination

Subclass 190 is pretty straightforward. Do IELTS and skill assessment> Lodge EOI and wait for the invitation> Lodge the PR application(with the required documents) and wait for case officer> Case officer assigned and they will ask you to do medical and police check> PR granted

Normally it just take about 3 months to get PR(from PR application lodged to PR granted)
*
Should be subclass 190 under perth. 3 months to get PR??? shocking.gif
agent takes about 12months (fast approval) or 18months (slow approval)
If I were to do it on my own, any pointer on what should I do first? most probably I'll do the application on my own as I could not afford quotations from the agent.

12 months is the safe bet for them I guess. Or they only submit your application in few months later. Who knows.

Or you can pay me $1k and I help you do the rest brows.gif

Just jk.

Let me see what is your option there. What's your age, IELTS point, Skilled experience and education(degree, phd?)? Your wife has an occupation that listed in CSOL?
*
32years old (30 points)
Bachelor degree in Multimedia Studies (15 points)
IELTS - not taken the test yet (agent estimate 10 point [grade 7])
Experience - 3 years (5 points)
State Sponsor (5points)

Total = 65 points

Actually I own a design company and I've 8years of experience but graphic designer is not available under the 2013-2014 occupational list so the agent take my last 3 years of experience under my own company and file for PR application under unit group 5111 contract, program and project administrators (occupations 511112 program or project administrator). They claim that this occupation is only available in Perth under state sponsorship and is the only way I could apply a PR. I'm managing the company so the job description is closely related to the 511112 program or project administrator.

My wife is a diploma holder from local art school and she's a graphic designer so agent said she could not help much on my applications. I'm applying visa for me, my wife and 2 kids (3years old & 5 years old).

Thanks in advance for the willingness to help.

Wow...going up so much! I paid mine including agent fees only AUD6600.
In that case, i suggest u DIY. Not hard to do. Just follow the instruction in DIAC websites. Some international calls required
*
yes, i got a shocked as 3 years back i got assess by agent and they quoted me AUD6000... and now it freaking cost me RM39k.
I rather do it on my own to safe up some rental when I move there.

Your wife could boost up another 5 points for you provided she getting positive in skill assessment for graphic designer but has to be in bachelor degree so just forget about it

32 years old this year? When is the month of your birthday?

1. IF all of the above is correct then you need to do skill assessment through vetassess http://www.vetassess.com.au/migrate_to_aus..._assessment.cfm
You can find the required documents for vetassess here http://www.vetassess.com.au/migrate_to_aus...d_documents.cfm
Take note the employment evidence as you have to gather evidence for your own business. More info here http://www.vetassess.com.au/migrate_to_aus...nt_evidence.cfm

2. While waiting for skill assessment(would take 8-12 weeks), go for the IELTS.

3. Once everything are good/positive, lodge the EOI. You no longer need to go through WA channel to lodge state nomination separately as they have now integrated together with EOI. Info here : http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/skilledmigr...ponsorship.aspx
Minimum points to lodge state nomination is 55 points and it will add another 5 points for state sponsorship

4. You have to wait for the invitation(invitation will send out fortnightly) and higher points will get the invitation first. 65 points should get the invitation in a month.

5. Once you have received the invitation, click the link from the invitation email to submit the PR application. Normally it will take about 1-2 months to have CO assigned to your case and they will contact you to provide more information like medical and police check. You can probably do the police check while waiting for CO but do the medical only when CO ask you.

Sorry, I am writing this on the tablet and in the hurry as well so please correct me if I missing something tongue.gif

then you have 1 year time to get 30 points for the age requirement

Just look at the link and read carefully. It might confuse you a bit but actually it is quite straight forward.

I've met up with 2 migration agents and I could apply PR under subclass 190 with state sponsored by Perth. Both agent told me that there's a 2 years bind in Perth but they said it's a moral bind. Which I'm not really sure about it. They said I could land at Perth and travel to Melbourne directly if I want to, without fulfilling the 2 years bind in Perth. They claimed that the federal is the one who approve/renew my PR, so they would not care whether you serve the 2 years bind or not.

I've friends over Melbourne that could provide me with accommodation so I could save up some money over there. Secondly, I need to enroll my son for primary school once touch down Aus and we plan to buy a house. it will be a hassle for us to stay in Perth for 2 years to fulfill the bond and move the whole family to Melbourne later on.

My question is, will Perth takes legal action on me if I did not fulfill the 2 years stay? Is it possible for me to renew my PR for the following 5 years without fulfilling the bond?

Why must melbourne? Why u need to take these risk? Melbourne housing price ain't cheap. Everyone is going there without knowing high competitiveness there.
If u wanna risk ur visa, u might not get renewed. Please bear in mind 2 years is pretty short. By the time u fulfill, moving there anytime.

Actually I've relatives over in Melbourne who could provide me with accommodation upon starting up. By going to Melbourne, I could save on accommodation. That's the reason why...

Anyway, thanks to you, annielee and hihihehe. Appreciate your help over here.
