IT? Deswai. No demand at all. My friend here 8 months no job.

It is going to be an expensive experience. My suggestion is to go get a night shift job at your local 7-11 first. Use your daylight hours to look for a professional job.

Bro...glad to hear from you again...it is really very bad now in oz for the prospects of O & G and mining ? blink.gif

Awesome if you know people.

Shit if you don't.

OnG/Mining generally hire friends one. If you're really smart (Honours student, co-curriculum banyak, vacation experience and so on) you can get in via their graduate programs, but hiring is very very competitive.

If you got friends, even freshie can get paid as well as someone with 2 years exp.

Yes, unfortunately. I honestly have recommended friends not on the basis of qualifications but rather on the fact they're me mates.

If there is one place where the Aussie culture of "sticking by your mates" is strong, it is in this sector.

I see, bro, then how to build up the network... honestly, i cant be making friends with the CEO of BHp tht easily to get a job... haha, always thought that accounting/finance line in australia is very competitive. What i heard was O n G and mining in Aus is in great demand of manpower, but if they play by cabbles, then i have to work smart, not just blindly aiming for the grades only anymore.

No employer will sponsor you given your current situation. I'm 99.9999 percent sure of that. Mind you there are a million and 1 Indian graduates already in Australia with PRs and working at 7-11. Why would they choose you?

Actually I recall that the recognized graduate visa only applies to Engineering students. I don't make the rules lol. If they recognize only those 2 unis, what to do? I think famous kuda in this forum Meruchan tried to apply for onshore PR, she was a graduate of QUT with a Masters of Accounting, but end up had to go back because no work and she didn't want to be a waiter for the rest of her life.

Kesian her. She seemed pretty well settled here.

My suggestion is that you aim for;
1) SkillSelect PR invitation
2) Be in the skilled workforce for 5 years for the extra 10 points.
3) Aim for an IELTS Score of 8

If you start now, you'll get your PR visa in about 6 years.

If you want the faster way well, you'll need about 60k AUD.

wow so terrible in aus now...then how are we normal hardworking immirgrants get a chance to work there with a decent pay...it seems their govt is practicing far worse protectionism than here . If aus cant do it, other can do it...just like the mining/On G jobs and many many finance and banking jobs...what makes these lazy australians have more advantages and privilege than us hardworking immigrants?? sad.gif

Oh correction to my previous comment...i was mentioning AUs, not USA, commented wrongly. Is mining really that terrible now in Aus...then what industry is thriving in Aus if every industry seems to be in recession?

agree with you maxmillion... Asia is the next big thing undoubtedly...with Japanese Abenomics declaring "Im coming back!" ...Asia might take a full swing soon... but im still abit apprehensive bout the bullishness of asia emerging markets bcos of tapering... i think Aus didnt escaped the resource curse experienced by most countries too... they harp on too much hope and expectation on the commodities bull run, that's why they are in pain now since china is slowing down and trying to internalize their growth.. Most countries do experience that....In fact, i think Aus should have prepared for the future...but mining is mining...dont you think it will rebound again in 5-10 years time since its cyclical? I mean its a boom-bust thing....and the mining industry does not depend on China alone.

wow...that is a serious statement man...in fact, i'd think Australia can weather through this tough times, its a matter of how long... BTw, you have any idea the prospect of geologist/geophysicist in aus? not referring to mining industry...talking interms of general( O & G, construction, shale, coal seam gas etc etc)

Since you're in that sector it may be the way to go. I've got a lot of Singaporean buddies here, ex-WFT, Halli, Schlum and Exxon working here at QGC and they always say that if you're into banking, go SG.

Whatever the case I suggest 485 visa. Use your 1.5 years to find someone that will sponsor you.....or knock up a local....I mean I've had friends do it and they're pretty happy biggrin.gif
Not sure about nowadays, so it might be stricter. Either way the government has been on the warpath since 2009 to reduce migration numbers but increase temp visa numbers.
56000 AUD per annum is lower than average graduate salary man....
