All 304 SS will rust, is not rust proof. Especially weather in Malaysia and the recent quality we get from 304.

Dear Weikee,

Basically, stainless steel 304 will not rust. Unless you damage its surface or pour the acid or chemical material on it.

This is really good info. So conclusion 316 is better than 304.  rclxms.gif

So Sorento Malaysia do you agree? From your website, the material for some bathroom accessories are made from Stainless Steel 304. Your plant is in China. Then how ah ???? hmm.gif

Dear Phoenix69,

Thanks for your question. Basically, there have a few stainless steel that better than 304 and 316 as well. But we need to consider whether it is suitable to our products and the usage of our end customers. Therefore, we will not consider to use all of those stainless steel. Since different grade of stainless steel have different applications and usage in different industry. Some of them are suitable to the application of marine industry.

For instance,

1. Stainless steel 316N- Higher strength than standard 316 and 304.

2. Stainless steel 317L- Higher resistance to chlorides than 316L, but with similar resistance to stress corrosion cracking.

3. Stainless steel 904L-Much higher resistance to chlorides at elevated temperatures, with good formability.

4. Stainless steel 2205- Much higher resistance to chlorides at elevated temperatures, and higher strength than 316.

And more. If you interested, please click to link: http://www.azom.com/article.aspx?ArticleID=863

Furthermore, some of our bathroom accessories are made from stainless steel 304, but it didn't have any link with where we produce it. Because both of them are unrelated. Let say, even though our products are made from China, Hong Kong, india, Vietnam, Singapore and etc, but our bathroom accessories still definitely made from stainless steel 304. We will not simply change it.

Sorry, i am not in English expert. In English it may be the same.
For gears, this are some explanation i found from uncle google.

"Waterproof" vs- "Water Resistant"

Watch:
Not 100 Percent

A water-resistant watch repels water but is not waterproof. No timepiece is completely impervious to water.

Virtually the Same

The term water resistant is viewed by watchmakers and sellers as being waterproof only up to a certain amount of water exposure.

Fabric:-
To be truly "waterproof", the garment must be made from a "waterproof" fabric and have sealed, or taped seams so that rain does not leak in through the small perforations made by sewing needles during the construction of the garment. Sealing and taping seams takes special equipment and extra time. As such, it adds substantially to the cost of the garment. If the garment is made from a "water resistant" fabric, that usually means that a coating has been applied to the fabric to help repel water. Water resistant fabrics work very well for light rains, or drizzels, but may get soaked over time and are not considered to be "rain gear". If you are looking for protection from rain, you must look for garments made from "waterproof" fabrics, not "water resistant" fabrics.

Dear WeiKee,

Thanks for your sharing. Very detail and understandable!!!

Added on August 24, 2011, 1:24 pmEither rust proof or rust resistance. Stainless 304 will not rust, if you follow the instruction (avoid pour acid on it or damage its surface by using steel brush and so on).

The situation just like the example of "water resistance watch" above, "water resistant is being waterproof only up to a certain amount of water exposure." (This is the condition when using water resistance watch)
