Hello fellas, got a problem on my set today after using it over 1 month without any previous problems. Just posting it here as a record, I guess. Here goes....

I am using an AP set with KH3 firmware (flashed about 2 days ago). For the record, I always flash the latest firmware as soon as it's out on samfirmware so I've done flashing a fair number of times.

Was out with a friend today, as usual I always check my phone to see if I have any missed call/sms. Around 8pm today, took out my phone, it was unbelievably hot and I mean HOT for no apparent reason. I managed to observe that I got a missed call from home (at this time the phone was already mysteriously in a bootloop). It kept rebooting itself, but it's not a normal bootloop (As I experience before on my galaxy ace, bootloop means it'll just get stuck on the loading screen and will keep rebooting itself). The 'bootloop' I experienced today is such that the phone manages to get into the Enter PIN code screen (The notification area was displaying the usual 'Scanning Media... blablabla, hence I manage to see the missed call notification). The touchscreen was non responsive here and it just reboots itself.

So, what I did was to remove the battery cos the phone was really HOT and I read before on xda developer that some fella's phone actually melted on the area just below the camera (with picture proof). Waited for a while and reinserted the battery. The phone was still rebooting into the Enter PIN code screen and getting stuck there with touchscreen still being non responsive. Removed and reinserted the battery about 4-5 times, still same problem.

Luckily I am rooted with CWM recovery. Tried to enter recovery mode and BINGO, managed to restore my CWM backup file I did yesterday midnight. The phone is fine now. Just lost some data with my Traffic Counter (Cell, Call and SMS data restored to yesterday midnight's point)

I certainly dunno what the heck happened and it was quite an unpleasant experience...... Just sharing, not sure if it's KH3 problem as I never had any problem before since I started using SGS 2.

Kh3 modem doesn't serve me well.had you tried connect gps using kh3 modem? Mine okay with kg3 but not kh3.not sure first time connect might need longer time

Hello, my gps on kh3 is fine. I usually use GpsFix to lock on first (a few seconds). Papago will lock on almost immediately after that.

Guys (and uncle benny), the above just happened to me again today vmad.gif !!!! @#$#@%#^#!

This time I was in the cinema. Middle of movie, checked my phone, again the above happened with a missed call. Stupid weird 'bootlooping', touchscreen unresponsive at the Enter PIN page..............so i got home and tried to narrow down the damn problem.

It seems that there is a problem with missing calls on my phone (not sure if the problem is just on my phone or not). I restored using CWM and tried to test it as how I had been using it before the damn thing happened again. It's confirmed that everytime I missed a call when the phone is idle, the damn 'bootloop' happens, and there is no way to recover it, remove battery, restart phone. Had to restore/reflash the phone.

I'm on KH3 firmware from samfirmware.com and I dont remember this problem present on previous firmwares.

Just posting it here in case it happens to someone. Damn it , still a bit pissed off. vmad.gif

Edit:- 2.24am - Reflashed to KH1 firmware. Problem solved, missed calls doesnt 'bootloop' the phone anymore.
Edit: - 3.01am - Reflashed to KH3 firmware to try again. KNN mad.gif , as soon as a missed call comes in, the damn 'bootloop' happens again. Note: ALL SYSTEM APPS AND DATA restored using titanium backup on both KH1 and KH3.

seems like got bad apps running in the background, which actively running & consume the battery..

one of the apps i find out is evernote..

Yo buddy, I just reedited my post above. I flashed it back to KH3 to try again and the problem is there as soon as I get a missed call. I restored all system apps and data using titanium backup (both on KH1 and KH3) but on KH1, there was no problem.....

If anyone experiences the same, please post here. Thanks!! I hope it's not something wrong with my phone

p.s , erm I dont use evernote.

i on KH3 as well, so far no problem like that. but mine is from intratech..

Thanks for the info.

Hmmm, that's weird. I cant pinpoint anything else since I am sure I restored it (when I flashed back to KH1) to exactly how it was when I was on KH3.

Perhaps there is some app that I am using which is buggy on KH3 but not on KH1, if that is even possible... I dont have a clue about that.

Sigh, sucks ler, dunno whether it will happen again on future firmware updates. Going back to KH1 for now.

mind to share what apps u installed?

You mentioned you got your KH3 from intratech. If i remember correctly, intratech sometimes post wipe and non wipe version. Do you think that matters?

I've always flashed my firmwares from samfirmware and I never wiped or cleared anything cos I dont really know what it does tongue.gif

Regarding apps, gimme a couple of minutes.....

seems no problem with the apps listed here. did u check the battery consumption? maybe can detect the apps over there.
*
Battery consumption is fine, not really much difference on all the previous firmwares I've used. In fact , KH3 gives me better battery life.

Off topic a bit, thanks for discussing my phone issues, but dont u need to sleep? It's not early now blink.gif

[quote=kazama82,Aug 28 2011, 06:00 AM]it's obvious...a lot of user encounter problem when install ahem apps..try to uninstall the apps and flash again KH3..maybe you are lucky on KH1..better still, do a full wipe and use firmware from intratech..i never use from samfimware as well..only intratech..

Point taken. Thanks for the recommendation. Will try intratech on the next update and do a full wipe.  smile.gif

In that case , stay away from KH3 until u can figure out the problem or u can try wiping everything clean , install KH3 and try it . DONT use TB yet  ... If there is no bootloop when u get a missed call , means some apps u have is causing it .... Then try it again after restoring your DATA thru TB . If it happens , means 1 of your DATA is corrupted . Do it 1 step at a time . It's time consuming but at least u get the answer . . . TB is a bit*h at times

Thanks uncle benny. Next time I'll restore all missing apps/data and selectively do the system apps/data. Just that all the time until before KH3, I thought restoring systems apps on the same android version (2.3.4) should be ok, I only don't do it for different android verisons, eg. from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4.....perhaps I was lucky as no problems happened before.

Understood. doh.gif
