i think lil's going through puberty. she seems snappier lately, like she'll huff when i want to pick her up but after actually picking her up she'll stop and start to look around ._.

ah the rebellious stage. ._.

D: That's so sad.
Can't a friend help you take care of her while you're away for 3 months?

Enrol in college & get exemption.  whistling.gif

ditto, that's what my friend did. she did have to endure ns for a week first though before ending up in help xD

also, lil update for the day -

showered her today, trying to ween her off her safety blanket so i placed her in my drawer for her to sleep. she dozed for an hour before waking up and sniffing up all over the place. ._x

trust me, you do not want to hold a clicking hedgehog. since then they'll have their quills contently spiked up to hurt >.<

and take it from me, as cute as it looks when a hedgehog balls up, always be glad that yours is a well mannered hog and never ever complain that yours isn't doing something which is somewhat hog-sential.

because i know i did, happened once and i do.not.want it happening again, ever :x

to those in pj area, be wary of getting mealworms for now. i scouted the usual pet shops from section 14 > s.e.a park > ss2 and was finally told by an old man in a pet shop that the mealworms had some black plague going on and they were all ordered to literally burn them to control the outburst.

so, yeah.

there was this once, when i purchase certain batch of superworms
i belive they have some sickness where they can't last very long
usually die within a week and very contagious among the superworms..
they will die and rot when infected, all within a cuople of hours...
when they die, their body will leave a gaping hole at the bottom near thier neck
the other mealworms that ate this dead worm will eventaully be infected and die as well...

mhmm. and this have been going on for about 2 months as well. i'm kinda glad my hog didn't want to eat the last batch i got, since one of the shops literally said "no more, got issues".

i didn't really ask about the symptoms but from what jitshiong said, telltale sign would be your um, stock? dying off and eventually infecting others.

also if you're looking for the wheel still, pet lovers center in ss2 mall still had 2 last i checked a week ago.

apparently it could affect both. but from what i've found out so far it's only mealworms currently. they were still selling superworms in individual packagings (live ones, in perforated plastic casings or tupperwares, rather)

yup. i'm kinda glad lil wouldn't eat the last batch i tried feeding her in a way.

speaking of lil, snapped a few photos of her when she was playing around the lawn earlier ..which roughly translates to munching dirt and annointing herself ._o

ddr3 - yeah, she has bat ears :P

ix3rukia - because she doesn't eat much. 20-30 kibbles per day tops. and nothing else.

icechocolate - rc34 or rc36. the former has a higher fat content than the latter, but if you're planning on feeding your hoglet mealworms (maximum of 3 per day), rc36 would do since mealworms provides the needed fat :)

yeah, i actually got a wodent wheel but sold it to a friend who keeps sugar gliders and went back to her old wheel.

i didn't like how sometimes the opening of the wheel would brush against lil's nose as she sticks her head out when she's about to stop.

the biggest that the wodent wheel comes in is pretty much the same size as the one i'm currently using, which is 12" ..or was it 11"..but yeah, i reverted back to the first wheel i got for lil (the same one telileti is using) which i got from pet lover's centre for around rm85? or along that line :P

i prefer that one as i find it easier to clean. that and the said issue where i saw lil getting nose brushed by the "pillars" which is formed from the cut out of the entrance of the wheel.

codicil*

good god the one i'm using has way more cons! lol.

QUOTE
Wodent Wheels

Some people choose to use Wodent Wheels for their hedgehogs. Wodent wheels feature a solid running surface, but contain a series of holes on the front of the wheel. If you hedgehog is larger it may or may not be able to fit through these holes. On most Wodent Wheels the holes are above the running surface of the cage allowing no place for feces or urine to run off. Hedgehogs also like to jump on and off their wheels mid run. With Wodent wheels the holes make it very hard for hedgehogs to jump on and off, and can cause serious injury or death.
Pros

    Solid Running Surface

Cons

Feces and urine cannot drain off
    Holes may be to small
Hedgehogs may try to jump out while moving and get caught on the wheel
Front plate must come off to clean wheel. It is not easy to take front plate off or put it back on
