u can try the petshop near folie folie. if im not wrong, the shop is called hup fatt. i think lar.. not too sure. but i know it is near folie folie ter.. a corner shop. i got mine from there. price is reasonable in terms of cages and hamster too. food as well. and hamster toilet. hahahaha.. i think i talk too much. good luck in looking for hamsters biggrin.gif

Added on November 17, 2011, 1:34 pm@babybb : so cute. is that cake edible? i usually gave my hamster a special treat on her birthday every month smile.gif

Added on November 17, 2011, 2:29 pmi feed my Syrian hamster with mealworms occasionally. but she is giving me a headache vmad.gif . She likes to hide her food including the ALIVE worms in her pocket before going to her hideout to 'hide' her food. ps: that is a bad hideout becoz it is open space and i can definately steal her food. Muahahahaha.. tongue.gif

The thing is, she doesn't kill the worm unless she wants to eat them. she doesn't eat worms that I killed for her! Fussy pot. rclxub.gif And of course, the ALIVE worms crawl around the cage and she is a little dumb to find those worms crawling around her cage. She only eats from her pile of hideout food. I self made the cage and it is huge. u can even fit two adult shihtzu puppies in there. so the worm is somewhere crawling, surviving, stealing her food and she cant find them. so every week when i clean her cage, I will definately find a few worms still ALIVE somewhere in her cage. And now, I have stop giving her worms already. But I can see that she really loves them. Any suggestions?

btw, i am pissed with her. she ate up all her 8 babies of her first litter. that was of coz 3 weeks ago. while my other hamster never eats any of her baby hamster that she has even in cases which i thought she will.

@babybb, i gave her hello panda biscuit. strawberry flavour. only one though. coz i sked she cant take so much of that strawberry filling. but she enjoys licking onto the strawberry filling. and also a small bit of dog treats. haha.. and i will bring her out to the garden for a walk smile.gif

btw, has anyone tasted dog treats? i find them so wangi that sometimes I am tempted to try. but i never. hahahaha..

she doesn't take the dried one. my sis usually bought that for her hamsters and i tried giving her that but she left it at the food bowl for a week, which is telling me that she doesn't like them!

edit : i love how ur hammie reacts! lol.. so adorable.

@ix3Rukia, ewww... i dun dare to hold those worms!! I find them very disgusting and geli and ewwwww.... I usually use a spoon to scope them and give it to my hamster!!

@babybb, totally understand how hard it is to capture a nice photo of a hyperactive hamster! hahahaha.. it is easier to capture when they are young and ignorant. when you make funny noises she will stand up and start listening. now that she is used to all sorts of funny noises she never pay attention anymore. haha..

I recently found out that my hamster is jealous of me doing pedicure. everytime i did my pedicure, she will come up to me when i let he roam around my room and bite my toe before walking off. warning bite.

@Nekochan, it is kinda normal for hamsters to build nest. my baby boi build the best nest ever! u will be able to notice the tummy of the mummy hamster becoming really big and round few days before delivery. If u noticed that, then u might wanna prepare for babies biggrin.gif

@CheeseBeT, if im not wrong, alfafa is the dried green vege right? I dun think it is enough for hamster by only consuming that. they are going to need more nutrition from a variety of food. u can check out the first page where hamster food is introduced. mix food is better as it provides more variety for them. u can also provide them some snacks biggrin.gif

u can check their bottoms, holes that are further apart are usually male. u may compare between the two of them. if one is further apart and the other is nearer, then u have a couple smile.gif else, they maybe a pair of "homo" smile.gif hehee

@CheeseBeT, im sorry for your loss. but hamster doesn't has feelings for another hamster. they don't love like a couple or a friend. My sister has a pair of WW too. the Mother actually blinded the baby girl when they grew up. and no, my sister didn't house them together. the baby girl was in the cage while the mother was out roaming around the room. it is always advisable to keep the principle of one hamster per cage. WW are small hamsters, u don't need a very big house like the syrian. oh ya, you may wanna try to get some mealworms for your WW smile.gif

@infernoaswen, oh dear, i wish my hamster could sleep like that! so that I can tickle their tummies. haha.. mine always make a nest and curled up to sleep. nvr seen them sleeping like that before. I stop feeding my hamsters mealworm already because they tend to rear mealworm in their cage. (-.-) Trying to get superworm but it is kinda hard to find them in my area.

@Nekochan, hamster grass? what is that?

@infernoaswen, (sunflower seeds are the best as they love it but dont overfeed). i noe right? hamster are suppose to love sunflower seeds!! but mine hates sunflower seeds. sad.gif i have to throw away those sunflower seeds in the mix food avtime.

@codenamew, when i first got my hamster girl, she is very young. probably 2 weeks only!! cruel petshop. and she only wakes up at 1am. I have to wait for her till 1am to play with her. If i were to wake her up earlier then 1am, she will just walk back to her nest and continue sleeping. so no worries. biggrin.gif

if ur hamster is aggressive and afraid of u, u may wanna try out this trick I learnt from taming hamster who is super duper afraid of human. provide him with enough water. but don't give him any food yet. try giving him kuaci from your hand. if he refuses to take, try again later. intervals of maybe half an hour? hamster gets hungry pretty fast i would say (because mine does biggrin.gif). when he cant find any food in his cage, he will then try to take the kuaci from you. then slowly, he will accept that u r giving him food, instead of harming him wink.gif the clue here is to make him hungry and take food from ur hand. still, u need patient. he won't take it from you the first few times.

some people may not agree with this method but i find it no harm. just sharing my thoughts biggrin.gif

any ideas on getting a hamster to gain a little more weight healthily? I wan a chubby hammie biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I have one particular hamster who is superb superb picky. Headache. rclxub.gif now, she doesn't even wanna eat superworm anymore. She gets fed up with food very easily. She loves dog treats and red dates. but I read that I cant feed her dog treats too much.

just sharing what i see the other day.
I was at the petshop, there is this family with two kids went to buy 15 females robo. when i heard their requests, I was like. wtf r u going to do with them and how r u going to keep them? through their conversation with the shopkeeper, they have not much knowledge on keeping hamsters because they don't even know how big a hamster can grow. the mother keeps asking about the size of the hamsters while the kids are there "shouting" the robos are very cute. the father then insisted on no breeding of hamster and wanted all of them to be females. what annoyed me most is their choice of cage. I cant believe they are going to keep 15 females robos in a SMALL cage meant for a max of 2 robo. let me search online for the cage. if i can find it i will post the link here.

@ix3Rukia, I wanted to work with animals too. but my parents arent supportive of that.
@Nekochan, is that from Burp? I am trying it now. I just bought it last week. They doesnt eat the round thing and the kuaci. (T.T) i keep my hamster one per cage. so there arent any i-eat-up-all-the-food-and-leave-you-none situation. hahahaha...

still, i think it is common sense to keep 15 hamsters in a bigger cage than tat. haha..
