That is why its recommended to use tank as their cage setup as they have no means of biting it.
I used to use a metal bar cage...my hamster always bite the metal bar & the plastic which is part of the cage...then i changed to a 2ft tank...now he can't bite it already...
Happy new year guys...(yes i know its quite late to wish now :-P dafuq! hamsters eating their friend?
Try the petshop in sunway pyramid. i got my vitakraft from there few months ago. i was also finding...went to petsmore but theirs was going to expire soon...then went to sunway & found it...i think its new stock because expire date is quite long & i never see them selling vitakraft before.

no cos mine attached to the cage one. its outside one. so if i take out the wheel, there will be a hole there. and the cage is too cramped to put in another wheel. :\
try take some pics & post here...wondering what kind of wheel is that....anyway u can use baby oil, Veg oil etc...just avoid chemicals like wd40 etc coz its harmful for hamsters...

^ what kinda wheel is that? usually cages come with a wheel wer there is a knob behind and u can just fix the wheel anywer as long as there are metal bars. if urs is not that kind then maybe u nid to apply some oil like what babybb says. or u can check the connection of the wheel. sometimes bad connection causes the wheel to stuck too.
hamster does shit when he is scared. bcoz mine does. he shit while lying down wen i scold him
my hamster shit always stuck on his butt whenever i pick him up lol...

I have a question for hamster owner who kept hamster for over one year.
Do you feel that you fall sick every 3 months (average) with fever / flu / sore throat / cough ?
I am just wondering is due to the dry hamster poop that air born when I clean them and I might sniff in some
Appreciate your response...Thanks !
i dont think that is the cause...i havent fall sick for more than 1 year already...heck i dont even remember when was the last time i fall sick...but its definitely more than 1 year already...still healthy...probably think i am kidding...but i am not...maybe my immune system is good? or i just take care of myself
there are many factors of falling sick....i am not a doctor but i do know environment & food is important...drinking cold water everyday can cause cold...eating durian, cookies etc without drinking much water can cause sore throat...dont exercise also can make your body weak thus fall sick easily...& the list goes on...
what i am trying to say is hamster or their poop dosent cause someone to fall sick...first of all their poop is too tiny & its always covered up by the bedding (unless you dont put enough bedding)...secondly its odourless (well i cant smell anything)...and it turns hard like stone once its dry in few hours...plus their poop is actually not that dirty...sometimes the food which they eat isnt digested properly so they will eat their poop back again (yes i know its disgusting but what to do, they are like that)...
but i could be wrong tho... enlightened me if you found any info that hamster poop or hamster itself can cause sickness to human...
My hamster is like sick...but i dunno whether issit diarrhea...its butt is yellowish and smelly...and whole day is sleeping...somemore no drink water...please help me identify wat happen??...dunno isit wet tail....wat shud i do???...help!!!
Better bring to a vet soon...wet tail is serious...can even cause death if no treatment is given...
i saw this in pet adoption thread....this user is pathetic!

I been using delikate bedding for few weeks already....i would say its the best brand out there so far...smell is not so strong & its super fine....very soft & i think its more comfortable for hamsters since its texture is soft.
before this i been using chipsi & i feel delikate is better than chipsi...usually when i change bedding i will need to search for some sharp wood or big pieces of wood since chispi isnt that fine & there is always a few sharp wood & its quite dangerous if it poke your hamster eyes, body etc....but this delikate bedding looks like its been process properly....now i dont need to search for any sharp wood in it already...those who havent try, feel free to try it...now this will be my top brand...

how to bath the hamster?using water and shampoo?im currently using sand bathing...
never ever bath your hamster with shampoo & water. Please read page 1, post #2.
could be the bedding....what bedding are you using?
could also be allergy towards the bedding, the place your hamster is sleeping is too dusty thus dust collected into its nose while sleeping...or many other reason....another reason is if the temp is too cold they might sneeze too...
Hi hi..... Can I use toilet papers as hamster bedding? To put them into the sleeping place.. safe to use those toilet paper we use to wipe out butt as hamster bedding? The floor is using the recycled paper pellet type bought from the vet...
can use but toilet paper absorb urine very fast & good...so the tissue paper might become damp with urine & smell bad overtime...plus if the hamster carry it in their pouch...their saliva might shrink the tissue paper plus tissue paper isnt cheap man...
other than that...using tissue paper in their sleeping place is good...as long as its the odourless soft type...
haha... well havent tried that, but i have tried putting him in my breast pocket with his head pop up looking at ppl when going to the mall during winter... and he just stayed and watched in there quietly(during summer, cant do that at all since he likes to climb up and run away). thanx well in my case, the last time i used is the all natural aspen bedding(since both pine and cedar can cause alot of problems to our little furries). they can be in form of pallet(use this, i recommend you since its not sharp, no dust, and can serap the bau more than shavings) or shavings too, and cheap of course. but here, they look a bit expensive >.<.
but if ure looking for alternatives like me, since at first owning Peanut, i got no money haha, so i DIY his bedding. 1) if u got a paper shredder at home/office, USE Them!! makesure use plain white paper since u dont want those carbon inks on surat khabar end up in ure hammy mouth. (if kaya, just buy the recycle paper pallets, but i dont like to prefer them since i dont know how they make them and what chemical they use on it to produce those stuffs). If you dont have shreddar, just cut the paper manually la.. haha 2) Or if ure office has a lot of paper puncher collect all of those circular cut papers(trust me, you need alot of them, beg my Uni lecturers to give me every month..haha) and use them. just make sure no scented paper are within that pile.
you can mix both of this 1 & 2 to get better result since my hammy likes to play with his bedding very very much.. and like to jump in that circular cut paper piles and drag all the long paper strips everywhere, ending up making my room a lil bit messy in the morning. NOT recommended to hammy who likes to chew paper though..mine just like to chew tissue..
where you get aspen bedding??? at UK? still at UK?
im in malaysia now, but my Peanut still in UK with my fren taking care of him.. haha still figuring a way to bring him here >.< he must love the sunshine~
yeah, so far cant find ANY aspen bedding here weh, i realized i cant find any of them when trying to help my cousin set up her hamster playground you could 'kirim' to ure frens who are at UK though or going back there though.
oh....yeah i couldnt find any too...best bedding so far imo is delikate....
maybe you can try to contact any uk aspen bedding supplier? if they are willing to supply to malaysia i am sure there is a few people who are willing to buy if its a decent price. I am sure many of us in this thread is willing to buy aspen bedding...(m i right? dream, mark, noruddin )
or maybe you want to help us by becoming the agent that could 'kirim' for us?
well i cant be the agent since im currently working in here. when i was there, we tend to buy bulks and share with each other, also, if you already potty train, the 10L bedding can last about 6months +/- since u just need to scoop out a half of the palm of the potty bedding and replace with new one and sumtimes you can just change monthly for the entire bedding(if they are not dirty or wet). Try this Link!! maybe you all can buy in bulk, then kongsi with each other and try if they accept international postage(usually they wont ship electronic materials), if they wont allow international postage, you maybe can try this? Vpost??
only problem is shipping fees is going to cost a bomb... plus i dont have credit card... HAHA!
i know... well..you can try chipsi bedding..since they are much more efficient pine and cedar without the risks of course and can be found here readily in malaysia >.< a bigt pricey..but hey...better than ppine and cedar right? Click ME mwahahah!!! what do you think?
EDI|t** btw, try to avoid using any wood type bedding when ure furries have any babies since they might cause slight irritation to their puny noses, but if they are 200% dust free, thens its ok la...haha. to make sure they are dust free(not 100% accurate), use multiple sizes flour net or something to tapis them before using those beddings.
used to use chipsi bedding....it was the best brand until i tried delikate....now i prefer delikate bedding
