Agreed.
No mounted machine guns in Battlefield 3 I will miss you HMG KORD
In previous Battlefield games — virtually all of them — there were select points on maps that featured mounted machine guns for players to use in order to protect an area, but that’s a thing of the past with Battlefield 3. Since most weapons can now feature a bipod, it means they can be mounted on most surfaces and take over the role of the dedicated mounted MG. This is according to DICE’s Alan Kertz.
All Light Machine Guns in Battlefield 3 will have the ability to be mounted on most surfaces with a bipod, and so will most rifles as well (and sniper rifles, for that matter). This leaves the mounted MGs in fixed positions rather useless, but we’ll sure miss them, as they’ve been with the series for a long time. We still have the mounted TOW anti-vehicle missiles in Battlefield 3, though.

mod for bf1942 la...the mod that eventually became BF2.
Ooh I see... ><...Patutlah nv heard of it...Nv played 1942 be4 since my dad bought Jack Sparrow version and it couldnt run after installation(He didnt know what was crack and I was like 9-10 years old ><)...
i wonder if after mounting, when you want to move do you have to un-mount the rifle? if so, then all the support and snipers are free dog tags
The answer would be simple... DUH!

from what i guess la, pressing jump or exit prone position the tripod/bipod/mount will auto retract, maybe will have a slower animation compare to normal prone without deploy mount
VG24/7 sat down with Battlefield 3 devs to discuss the BF3 beta, which is due for release sometime this month. Speaking about the beta itself, the release date was stated as "soon" and "before the game ships." These answers are frustrating the anxious community, but DICE is set on making Battlefield 3 "perfect" when it comes to launch day. There will be hundreds of changes from the alpha to the beta. Some changes include map layouts while others are a bit more hidden, for example: gun balancing.

Again, to the beta question, we are releasing the beta before the game and we are actually changing stuff based on that before we ship the game, even though you could argue that that's very late close to the ship of the game, we will still have time to do, for instance, day one patches and changes to the Battlelog that will actually be game-changing.
Getting these changes in will require changes being made up till launch day. And because of this, DICE states that there is a high chance that there will be patches on release day. There have been no confirmations in terms of maps for the beta or if we will get more than one map, but we (enterbf3) aren't expecting to see Operation Metro until release day.
EA: Battlefield 3 has 1.25 million pre-orders
We’ve previously toyed around with the idea of Battlefield 3 pre-orders topping 1 million units before launch, but it’s always hard to tell when there are no official numbers. Well, now there are, as EA CFO Eric Brown revealed during the Citi Tech Conference. Brown said that Battlefield 3 so far has been pre-ordered 1.25 million times, which is above all expectations, and certainly more than any other Battlefield game.
Brown also said that EA has a head start on Modern Warfare 3, something they plan on taking advantage of. Brown said:
QUOTE
“We have the advantage of a two-and-a-half week early launch window versus our competitor, and we intend to use that.”
On top of that, Brown revealed that the marketing campaign for Battlefield 3 is bigger than that of the upcoming and much anticipated MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.
It was previously reported, but unconfirmed, that Battlefield 3 pre-orders had surpassed 700,000 units, a number which was 10 times that of the previous Battlefield game, Bad Company 2. If you still haven’t pre-ordered, check out our list of pre-order deals currently available.
