Bolded steps may be replaced with the Battery Calibration app from Market, which may be easier...

Gonna try it. There are 2, CF-ROOT-DXKP9-10-11-2011.tar and CF-ROOT-DXKP9-Ext4-With-Extra-06-11-2011.tar. Since I'm on stock 2.3.5, I should get the first one, right?

EDIT: rooted succesfully. Now might wanna try EXT4. How to reverse from EXT4? Does EXT4 give a significant speed improvement?

there is slight improvement in my opinion.people say ull get significant increased in benchmarking with ext4.but benchmarking is just not my toy, so i really dont know. i read somewhere if u factory reset,ext4 will be reversed.need to double check about that

EDIT:i think the only way to reverse ext4 is by reflashing, since its the only way to reformat ur file system.
and plz take note the steps of do backup before conversion and restore after conversion and only then reboot is very important to be followed.phone may end in bootloop if u straight away reboot without a restore.

Thanks for the advice smile.gif

So, all are in consensus that 2.3.5 brings better GPS performance? For those who agree:

1) May I know how you determine a GPS lock (other than use GPS Test)?
2) Did you upgrade at service center or yourself via Kies?

Thanks.

wahahaha...gps really great....last time i gave up using the gps in the phone...cause it took really long to log signal......sumtimes as long as 20 min........even i follow the fix posted earlier...

after the upgrade...now less than 10 sec....
eh but batt life not much different??

any other improvement??

btw, updated thru kies...took around 30 min or less....with unifi connection....
*
Don't see any other improvement other than the over-scroll animation... and now my Power Widget for GPS cannot turn on and off, it will bring me to the Location settings page instead. Maybe need to upgrade my widget.

GO Launcher homescreen is very unresponsive now. App drawer is ok. Anyone else facing this?

No idea about the problem you're facing (not much into flashing myself), but, which shop was that with such shitty services?

After a few days of use, my GO Launcher seems to have improved and is responsive and less laggy.

Hi Dannyl
Can you tell if factory reset was necessary for you?
*
As far as I can remember, this is what I did:
1) flashed to 2.3.5 via Kies, did manual factory reset (last Fri night)
2) setup everything, used phone (including GO Launcher) for 1 day
3) flash CF-ROOT to get root privilege
4) setup everything, realised GPS performance sucks monkey ass, like in 2.2.3
5) shut down and restarted phone, GPS turned good!
6) today (Wed) realised GO Launcher not so bad, not sure what happened or when it happened

Now after unlocking the screen, I can swipe left and right... got some lag, but very functional... before this, I swiped a few times also no response. I'm not using any task killers. Hope this helps...

I just had a phone crash. Turned on my wifi to connect to my home network and the phone froze sad.gif dunno whether due to 2.3.5 or CF-ROOT.

ok, its confirmed that wifi is still a problem : Wifi will suddenly drop connection, even during the middle of surfing. Then wifi will just freeze, not able to disconnect-reconnect. Only a reset will solve it.
*
How about restarting the wifi driver? At the dialer, type *#*#526#*#*. See if it works.

QUOTE(dahool00 @ Nov 18 2011, 12:39 PM)
i'm still using 2.2 for almost 6 mths, no restart at all.

battery life better in 2.3.5?
*
Gingerbread supposedly has better battery management. I feel my battery lasts longer now, but maybe's it placebo effect laugh.gif but the most important thing is that the GPS is superb now! Sometimes before Papago finishes loading, the voice already said, "voice navigation started".

first thing i did was try the wifi driver code. Does not work. Saw some threads in xda about this even in xxkpn, there were claims that using static ip address can solve it so I'm waiting to go back home to try.

FWIW, at office I don't have this issue yet.

BTW 2.3.6 xxkpq is out smile.gif
*
Ah ok. I'm using the static wifi IP thingie right now. Will report if there's problems. 2.3.6 out on Kies?

Ohh, so it is the same as galaxy wonder I think?... Bout the internal storage I mean the storage to install apps 1, wait wat u mean by internal phone/sd storage?
*
There's phone memory, internal sd, external sd. I think both of you are talking about internal sd, since this is the default installation storage, and usually people wanna move files here to external sd.

SGW, SGS, SGSPlus, SGSL, all same, using this kind of confusing storage thingie.

Has anyone tried change to EXT4? Is the improvement significant?

Also, with CF-ROOT, there's a Tweak Manager. Has anybody tried those tweaks? Do they work? Like I/O: Scheduler, Kernel Scheduler, etc.

Currently into my 4th day running Poseidon custom ROM

Never knew it was that easy to install a custom rom and with cwm recovery, its damn safe too!
*
Have you tried the screen improvement mod on DXKP9?

I have taken the plunge for improved touch sensitivity, it really works! Won't transform your phone to IP4 but you can feel the increased touch sensitivity.
*
Where exactly does it affect? Is it the homescreens? I might wanna do that too. And after that, maybe change to EXT4.

It literally makes it more sensitive to touch. Previously you may need to touch the screen with more pressure or longer for it to register, before you can start swiping etc, but now just imagine u need half the force and half the time. In the end it just make it easier to swipe around and for chinese handwriting I think this is a great improvement (at least for me cos I'm banana trying to learn chinese tongue.gif). So far I've tried multitouch, I think there is no negative effect. Angry birds, no negative effect. The more I use this the more I wonder how can Samsung and or Google miss this simple parameter in design. Should be a top performance indicator.
*
Ok, I've done it. Can feel smoother and require less effort.

Are you still having problems with your GO Launcher?

Flashed to Poseidon last night. My first Android custom ROM flash. The pre-flash Nandroid backup took 1.2GB @_@

So far so good...

hi guys. I'm planning to upgrade my current 4gb micro sdhc to 8gb. question is, how do i move all the installed apps to the new card? can i just move all the files via card reader and all the apps will work as usual?
*
Yes, just copy contents of card to PC, then to new card. Should work the same. I've done it a few times.

Maybe your security password is wrong? Try to 'forget' the network then connect again.
