QUOTE(little_mozart @ Aug 14 2011, 03:54 AM) we need to remember Arsenal FC is also a small club before Arsene Wenger arrived.from higbury stadium --> emirates stadium .. hopefully the board of Arsenal FC directors can find more sponsors to cover the cost of emirates stadium and buy more great players. for the question since when i support arsenal, my answer is when Arsene Wenger arrived in Arsenal FC. so do not underestimate others, if they find the right coach, they also can do what Arsenal FC just did. before this i really like Ajax Amsterdam and for sure Bayern Munich, and now my latest favourite club is Barcelona. |

A bitter start to the new season. RVP seems rusty and less motivated. Expected more from him as a captain and to stepped up in the Barton-Gervinho incident. If it's Viera, Barton surely had no chance to show his 'Judge Dredd' mode.'
The bright sides were the solid defending from the back four (yes, I gave benefit of the doubt to Gibbs, he did ok for defending). Vermy and Kos - class but the real test is next week the task to contain Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll. We won more aerial battle with Vermy. Sagna did his job as usual and it's hard for opponents to break into his territory . Our GK also did well to clear ball out of penalty areas few times. Confidence goalkeeping to me. Although at one time, caught out of position from a long shot. In the middle- as usual a lot of possession especially in the first half , pass - pass - pass but no penetration. Lacking sparks of creativity but the bright side is Rosicky has found some of his old touches, at least better performance than last season. However he had lost his long shot accuracies. I am looking forward to Wilshere-Ramsey combo for the next game against Liverpool. Tough job for them for sure. Song, delivered his job well I think to protect back 4 but overshadowed by his stupidity (that stamping on Barton's calf). One silly mistake like that could costs us next time. Arshavin on the left - looks more determined this time, hope he's back to his best but the arrival of Ox and Miyaichi means his position is safe no more. Gervinho - good game given this is his debut in BPL. Few trickeries, a lot of pace, some great passes. I expect him to be a sure starter whenever he's fit and available for the game and deliver a lot of assists. Can play left, right and in the middle. I believed he could be the answer to Nasri. Walcott - had a quiet game. RVP - rusty in this game. But who else for us to depend on ? Just hope he stay fit the whole season. Now that Vela is on his way to be loaned out in Spain, and Chamakh still trying to regain his lost of form, this is really worrying indeed. I can only see Gervinho as a worthy striker upfront in the absence of RVP. For Liverpool match I would like to see how the 12m new signing, Ox fit into the team. My expected line-up : ------------Polish keeper------------ Sagna----Kos------Vermy----Gibbs- ---------------Song---------------- -----Ramsey---------Wilshere----- Walcott--------------------Ox----- ----------------RVP---------------- That depends on the Song outcome, if he's not available next week, then we might see Frimpong takes his place. Pliz AW, sign a new centreback and a playmaker. Dun save 60m from Cesc and Nasri sales in the banks. Spend!!!!!!! You know you have to. |

watched liverpool game last night and suarez was really good. caroll looks a bit lazy but he got aerial power. unfortunately fall asleep after that and didn't watch arsenal playing.
but i think it will be a tough game for the arsenal defender to contain those two in the next game. This post has been edited by kroegand: Aug 14 2011, 08:53 AM |

Huhu,
On the bright side, Our GK was steady and we defended set-piece against tall fellas very well (no more man-marking) and hey, Joel Campbell is here...I Think,.... http://twitpic.com/6570a1 |

I think the keeper and 4 defender got their credit.. High ball, corner?.. They defended it well..
Midfield.. Arshavin and Song played their role.. Credit to them.. Wat happen to Song n Barton is another issue.. But as DM.. He done well.. Robin, Theo, Aaron,Thomas and Gervinho.. All average.. 0-0 is prove that away to st James park against those hardcore match.. We can defend.. It also prove that when striker not doing their job.. Next week against Liverpool at home, will the opp put 3 centre back all the time like Newcastle?.. If not then I looking forward.. Added on August 14, 2011, 9:32 am1st week of the season.. Did u realized how many people in their defend whenever we attack?.. So u assume players are all on form at the 1st week?... This post has been edited by rosicky_return: Aug 14 2011, 09:32 AM |

QUOTE(Zan81 @ Aug 14 2011, 04:42 AM) You guys being a bit harsh on Rosicky surely? I felt he had a good first half. Manage to hold the ball well, control was decent and one or two through passes rolled back the years. Agreed. Tommy didn't do much wrong; people are expecting him to be Fabregas but that's just not him. Rambo's old bad habits still persist, which is giving away sloppy balls unnecessarily. I'm unconvinced that Rambo will become the new Fabregas, but he doesn't need to. He needs to focus on things he can do brilliantly which is a fairly aggressive tackle, good linkup play, and short, accurate passes. Leave the fancy 40 yard lobs to Jack when the latter returns. Yes, he faded in the second half and gave the ball away maybe 2-3 times, but I think Ramsey had a far more anonymous performance that the Czech. Ramsey found himself in some good positions but chose the wrong options. And Gibbs... Some of you guys really like to witch hunt our players. I don't think he did much wrong today. This is similar to how you guys are attacking Jenkinson already. If anything, I think Van Persie had a bad game, while Arshavin did squat while he was on. Some of you guys love these players too much. RvP is my favourite players (after Cesc previously), but a stinker is a stinker. I like what I saw in Gibbs. Quick, more penetrating than Clichy in the attacking side of things, and he too showed that he can intercept like his predecessor. However his positioning is also like Clichy's, i.e. questionable at times. And yes, both Andy and Robin were poor by their usual standards. QUOTE(mayonaise3311451 @ Aug 14 2011, 08:43 AM) A bitter start to the new season. RVP seems rusty and less motivated. Expected more from him as a captain and to stepped up in the Barton-Gervinho incident. If it's Viera, Barton surely had no chance to show his 'Judge Dredd' mode.' Robin did step up to the nasty incident. Arguing with the ref, pulling away team mates... that's all we can expect during such situations. It was utter stupidity from both Barton and Gervinho. Gervy's gotta learn a few things while he's here - 1. The English hates foreigners who go down easily and will slaughter them mercilessly even though they too simulate a lot. It's just not worth it. 2. Don't get into handbags, a brush on the cheek equals being shot by a rifle. I'm doubtful that Arsene's going to throw the Ox straight into the fray. Andy's likely to start again. I'm still sceptical about Frimpong - the potential is there but his positioning is dreadful. Song's role requires a lot of concentration and ability to read the opponent's run. Track it wrongly and you're left for dead. Lose your man and you'll be in trouble. And who's the person leaving us in such situation? Song... not cool, not cool at all. Being a thug to a thug doesn't mean you're any better. |

I watched the first half, Gervinho looks like more like a winger than a striker. How come?
