HOW TO INSTALL LEAKED BELLE ON THE n8

1. Backup your N8 with Ovi suite. Sifu Aspire recommends not to backup your apps. I quite agree with this. It takes very long to backup/restore your apps and they might give problems after we install Belle.

2. Download and extract: http://www.mediafire.com/?zr6csfhpcrbu7su
The password is: orvvan + mohamad 79
Extract it and place it into any folder which is easy for you to locate ie. Desktop.
You'll need it for step 9

3. You'll need phoenix on your computer. Google for it, or the darkside install link is on the n8 lowyat fan page in FB.

4. Download the leaked Anna files http://www.filesonic.com/file/1404156244/%...e%20059D2S8.rar
and place them in C/Program Files (x86)/Nokia/Phoenix/Products/RM-596
If the RM-596 folder is not there, you can manually create the folder.

5. Start Phoenix and goto file>open product>RM-596  Nokia RM 596 and press OK. (Make sure your phone is connected to your PC  biggrin.gif )

6. On the top left corner of Phoenix, you will see "Connections:" followed by a drop down menu bar. Click the drop down menu and make sure "NO CONNECTION" is selected.

7. Go to Flashing>Firmware Update. Under Product code, click the box on the right side and select one of the variants and press OK.

8. Check "Dead phone USB flashing"

9. Click Options, click RM-596_022.014_79.92_prd.core.fpsx and press edit and change the file location to wherever you located the RM-596_111.010.0606_79u_prd.core.fpsx
Repeat for the other 4 files
I'll list it down here, make it easy for you guys to follow:
RM-596_111.010.0606_79u_prd.core.fpsx  --> RM-596_111.010.0606_79u_prd.core.fpsx
RM-596_022.014_28.01_Chinese_PRC_79.92_prd.rofs2.fpsx --> RM-596_111.010.0606_13.01_MEA_A_79u_prd.rofs2.fpsx
RM-596_022.014_C01.01_PRC_79.92_prd.rofs3.fpsx --> RM-596_111.010.0606_C04.01_MEA_1_79u_prd.rofs3.fpsx
RM-596_022.014_U02.01_79.92.uda.fpsx --> RM-596_111.010.0606_U07.01_79u.uda.fpsx

10. Now, Important :
Make sure RM596_APE_ONLY_ENO_11w15_v0.148.fpsx and RM-596_M025.44.emmc.fpsx are DELETED. Or it'll cause trouble when you're flashing.

11. Click OK and select refurbish. (I don't know if Update Software will work. Try that at your own risk. laugh.gif)

12. Follow the instructions when you're prompted to from Phoenix.
Note: If they ask you to hold the power button for 8 seconds, hold it for a little longer (probably for an extra second), till your phone vibrates for a few times.

13. Do not unplug your USB cable unless you're told to. And viola, Belle is on your N8.

14. Restore your backup-ed files to your N8 through Ovi Suite.
-Sifus, if there's a mistake in my instructions, feel free to correct me. I'll re-edit this post-

thanks to your guide, I manage to flash my N8 with Belle! XD Wohooo!

Okay , let me get this right. What are the disadvantages of flashing your phone to belle? Apart from risk bricking your phone.

Symbian Belle review.

- First Impression. Nice. Nokia changed their loading screen during boot-up. A little animation there.

- During the first initialization, I noticed the Fsecure is preinstalled in the phone. I didn't really like it as it would use some resources on the phone. Personal preference.

- Home screen looks way different compared to the previous Anna or even PR 1.0. The clock is HTC-like and I really like the pull down menu. I'll go over it in a bit.

- Lockscreen wise, a little change, I prefer this look over the previous versions of Symbian 3. Nice background integration and it could show your SMS, missed calls, alarms, etc. in a neater way.

- The pulldown menu is my favourite part of Belle. No more going through a few steps trying to activate/deactivate your wifi with that miserable side menu. It gives you a lot more control over your device; You could block mobile data from coming in very easily with just a single touch on the button. It also gives you notifications, like the previous Symbian^3 and Symbian^4 but in a better layout.

- The menu screen changed quite a lot. The scrollbar on the side has become smaller and hence does not eat too much of space. The top status bar has now been minimized rclxm9.gif. That really give more breathing space around your phone rather than wasting so much unnecessary space in the previous versions. Nokia has taken away the folders like we had previously. I'm still not used to it as everything is put into one menu screen. But we could still manually create folders to sort out our applications.

- There's no problem with me using Ovi Maps, although my phone freezed while I was using it in the afternoon. The actual cause of it is still unknown as my phone was very warm that time due to exposure to direct sunlight + gps.

- Call function, nothing much changed, we still have the regular smart dial. They've just added the extra buttons on the bottom part, which is useful especially when you want to check your call logs/phonebook.

- Camera wise, not much of change. But I do feel that the response time is a little faster.
*Update thanks to freakenstein, there's close up mode for the video camera biggrin.gif

- I noticed that Nokia installer has a new feature; where you can stop your installation halfway and continue it by pressing on a newly created icon on your menu screen.

- Some apps are still incompatible with the leaked Symbian Belle, ie. Opera browser. If you are really attached to it, this might turn you off from using the leaked Belle.

I had trouble with Fmobi as well, but I fixed it by reinstalling my QT.

And then after bricking , i heard that there's a way to reviving it and putting back all the original files in right?

@Macwai , Please do note that in Video mode there's a feature called "Close up".
