Old Japanese car during the 70's also rear wheel drive..I think Toyota corolla DX & b4 that also rear wheel drive..Nowadays, really not many having read wheel dive..For those sport tuned, they have all 4 wheel drives but not only the rear wheel for eg..Mitsubishi Evo, Subaru Impreza & etc..

just imagine...one is pushing the car from the back and another is pulling the car from the front..so use your imagination which easier..pull or push? smile.gif

Another is comparing superb torque but lack of hi-en power & another so-so pick-up but better hi-end power

whether rear wheel drive and front wheel drive, both of them have advantage and disadvantage (need more than 3 days to discuss this smile.gif.The best about RWD is the engine very hard to over torque or overspin when you accelerate the car which give more power. It also have very good handling in dry road condition.

The info given by me is very limited, i recommend you to test the car or google yourself to get better understanding. If i'm not mistaken, most car using rear wheel because to improve handling, however citroen is the first car win the race using front wheel drive (i'm not remember which race).

Very well said. Also with today's not so good drivers and trigger happy lawyers, even rear wheel drive cars eg. BMW are much easier to drive and tuned for safer responses ie. understeer not oversteer.

In short unless you're among the top 1% of drivers out there you get much more feel and control of the road driving a gokart then a modern RWD car.

proton use front wheel drive. You can check it by open up proton bonnet and see the engine location (this will give you answer the car have front engine) for the wheel drive check the drive shaft connected from gear box, if the driveshaft connect to front tyre that mean the car is front wheel) so for proton is FF mean front wheel drive with front engine location.

RWD vehicle has a center hump on the floorboard at the rear passenger seat. Once I was ferrying a full load and three girls was sitting at the rear. The center one has no leg room so she has to put one of her leg on the hump and everything under her hood is exposed. rclxub.gif

RWD vehicles usually have the fan driven by the engine itself and not electrically operated as in FWD. Advantage of RWD is it is easier to balance the weight distribution of the car eg. the former Alfettas where they place the gear box almost in the middle to balance the car weight distribution for better road holding. If you are planning to take a load uphill, will it be easier to push from the back or pull from the front icon_idea.gif I think it is easier to push from the back, that's why there are still many expensive cars still chooses RWD.

I still like RWD vehicles as they are easier to correct when driving hard into corners and also there is no bothersome drive shafts to bother about. Drive axles are more hardy than CV joints or drive shafts. Ever wonder why AE86 are popular or the KE70 for drifting? Because they are RWD. icon_rolleyes.gif

Nowadays there are less cars coming out rear wheel drive due to cost of manufacturing, practicality and least power loss.
