Hi, im just starting to play this game. and i placed in bronze after only won 1 of 5 placements matches. i won my first game against no 1 league leader (bronze) but since then, i lost all my games. about 6 of them.

i varied my tactics after each match. but my opponent also not the same. so its quite troublesome. now im feeling like quitting playing 1v1 and start playing 2v2. but i have no friends palying sc2. so i went to custom to play 2v2.. also noone enter the room. matcmaking also didnt work. so im stuck playing 1v1 but i sucked a lot. and i hate the intense of it and kept losing. sad.gif

so im looking for any player who could train me and show me what i could have done wrong coz i love this game.

name is NiZoRa, 423 and im playing zerg. i would much appreciate to those who can lend a hand. smile.gif thanks.

also i have several of ladder match replay if some of u guys would like to point out.

I was like u Nizora when i started sc2 and i keep on losing in 1v1, then i play 2v2 but now since i practice more 1v1 lately, u will get the used to 1v1 in no time.

Practice makes perfect and dun be afraid to lose.

dun think of those gimmicky strats.

start with 14 gas 14 pool and mass speedling roaches. can bring you very far already while learning how to play better.

play better =
smoother execution
btr larvae inject
btr economy control
btr drone count
btr micro
btr map awareness
btr scouting info....

by sticking to 1 strat and continuously playing it, you can slowly improve.

omg u shudnt lose as a zerg! they are the most OP units.

a little tips to u, zerg cant play defensive, since they cant wall off. zergs must go aggressive and offensive, dun worry about losing units u can spawn 7 ultralisk at once. i suggest u to play early ling/roach rush u will be surprise how useful is that.

I would really like to lend you a hand but I sucked at using zerg. Let me know if you like to practice against terran though. I might be able to show you some counters to some popular terran openings / strategies at the level you're playing at.

Btw I really like your opening post. It shows your passion towards the game and willingness to learn this game. Much better than those one liner "please teach me how to win".

Some tips: you're having a SEA account right? You can have access to north american server. There are tonnes more people who play custom games there, whether it's 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 or even FFA. The latency is higher but shouldn't be too huge a problem.

i always played custom 3v3 at arakan citadel when im bored and thats all coz other custom games have nobody joining. so arakan citadel over and over again. i tried 4v4 but no players found. no luck maybe.

about the tutorial, i did sometimes watch them but i tend to watch pro games replay coz they are epic. eg of zerg pro that im kinda like are spanishiwa which is youger than me. tongue.gif and also idra + destiny.

i do play aggresive. but guess what. these bronze players turtled like hell. im also bronze but i didnt put like 6 spinecrawlers at my base. no replay of pro gamers ive seen doing that unless its their expo.

thanks. might learn one or two to defend against terran. do add me. smile.gif i always lost to terran with early tanks + marauders. my roaches died like super fast. drops act dont bother me much.
against zerg, muta rush is so disturbing. sad.gif no other probs.
only played and lost once against protoss which there void rushed me with 6-7 void rays. didnt scout, so my hydra didnt came soon enough.

ill try play NA somewhere in the future. for now i juz wanna train and play. smile.gif

Yeah i also like your first post biggrin.gif

Why dont u post replay here or simply write out what problem you face. Tons of pro here will be glad to guide you on how to countering.

Bout that terran turtling, put 1-2 ling somewhere outside his base to know when he move out and if he expand.

Focus on injecting larva and drone up. When u see him move out, see his army composition and makes counter instantly. Or just bunch of lings and banelings.

If he expand, sent 30 lings to welcome his appetite. If he defended or lost his expo, retreat and expand.

For me i think zerg is imba cause if u held and drone up in that first 5 minutes, you are way ahead in econ.

just my 2 cents from a silver terran tongue.gif

if 1v1 is ur focus, play as much as u can, do what make sense, stop doing what doesnt.
when u're not playing, contemplate what u could've done in ur previous games.
when u're playing, try to remember stuffs, the more u play, the stuffs that u remember to do become more of reactionary like some sort of auto reflex done by ur unconscious mind so that u have much more space for ur conscious mind to think logically to react in some situation ^^

i'm not a awesomely pro Zerg user, but i tend to face some frustration, just like u now. if you'd like to,i can help guide you until u r more OP than me though smile.gif

btw, playing Zerg for an almost-newbie player is quite hard.mostly ppl would go Terran/Protoss,as u get to play them in the campaign.so,i undoubtedly salute u for ur bravery. icon_rolleyes.gif

I doubt find match is the best way to learn or improve. Thanks to the Blizzard flawed MMR system, I landed at Platinum league, which I don't belong there. Guess what? My match history definitely have a lot of red and minus instead of yellow. I'm pretty confident that I going to demote to silver tomorrow as I have been facing a lot of silver players today.

Sparing with friend is the best way to improve.

you only need to know how to 4 gate and defend a 4 gate to get into code A in 1 month. ~Project A

4 gates n 6 gates works wonder. I was playing my typical 1v1 ladder, but I press wrongly and start as Protoss against Zerg. OMG, I have no experience at all using Protoss in 1v1 at Diamond lvl. but i just go 4 gate and won the game. 2nd game, 6 gate. won again. 6 gate all-in + FF is imba... I might get to code A very soon... tongue.gif

i totally love combatex's tutorial vids...
the way he explain his logic and decision making was jz stella...
at times u wonder why he pull off some cheese but then he explain how it forces his opponent to react the way he wants them do and make the best out of it...
then again, most of ur opponents are nt as smart as his opponent so their reaction might nt be as his opponent...

4 gate PvZ? i R skeptical...
6 gate +1 all in? i think some of the gold zergs already knw the burrow timing well enuff to hold this >.<

here's my guide: -
PvP: 4gate

i totally love combatex's tutorial vids...
the way he explain his logic and decision making was jz stella...
at times u wonder why he pull off some cheese but then he explain how it forces his opponent to react the way he wants them do and make the best out of it...
then again, most of ur opponents are nt as smart as his opponent so their reaction might nt be as his opponent...

where do u find combatex's tutorial?

4 gate vs zerg is possible, but u have to do more than that before ur warp research is completed
1)pressure with 2-3 zealots (with chrono) if the zerg goes hatch 1st
2)pressure with 1 zealot and 1 stalker (chrono) otherwise (require more micro, snipe a queen with the stalker would help a lot)
these 2 tactics would probably make the zerg overproducing attack unit and low in economy, so when u follow up with a 4 gate, that would put the zerg in a very uncomfortable position which he has used to no pressure before a normal 4 gate would hit him. u would wanna stop pressuring when the zergling speed has completed, strongly advised to use this if close spawn

other than that, feint a 3-gate sentries expand and throw down the 4th gate, cancel the nexus at the last second, this can even work against even a code s player in the gsl

just go play 4v4 till u get the hang of it?
watch tutorial online?

i was on a 40+ losing streak before knowing how to play that game xD

40+ losing sreak? Are you serious that you didn't even win a few in between?

QUOTE(FLampard @ Aug 11 2011, 02:45 PM)
omg u shudnt lose as a zerg! they are the most OP units.

a little tips to u, zerg cant play defensive, since they cant wall off. zergs must go aggressive and offensive, dun worry about losing units u can spawn 7 ultralisk at once. i suggest u to play early ling/roach rush u will be surprise how useful is that.

Lol, that is really funny.

i always played custom 3v3 at arakan citadel when im bored and thats all coz other custom games have nobody joining. so arakan citadel over and over again. i tried 4v4 but no players found. no luck maybe.

about the tutorial, i did sometimes watch them but i tend to watch pro games replay coz they are epic. eg of zerg pro that im kinda like are spanishiwa which is youger than me. tongue.gif and also idra + destiny.

i do play aggresive. but guess what. these bronze players turtled like hell. im also bronze but i didnt put like 6 spinecrawlers at my base. no replay of pro gamers ive seen doing that unless its their expo.

thanks. might learn one or two to defend against terran. do add me. smile.gif i always lost to terran with early tanks + marauders. my roaches died like super fast. drops act dont bother me much.
against zerg, muta rush is so disturbing. sad.gif no other probs.
only played and lost once against protoss which there void rushed me with 6-7 void rays. didnt scout, so my hydra didnt came soon enough.

ill try play NA somewhere in the future. for now i juz wanna train and play. smile.gif

You can barely join a 4v4 because most people already have a team of 4 or team of 2 2, which is why it's hard to find a single slot to occupy you. Besides, the SEA server is a lot less active compared to NA. I can find games in NA really quickly regardless of the time.

learn all different kind of cheese from all races then only learn those long macro games... thats my opinion if you want to get good in long term ~

Might as well just learn how to macro in the first place. Winning through cheesing isn't gonna help, much.

QUOTE(SiewKaiz @ Aug 26 2011, 08:22 AM)
not really dude i cheese pepsi on ladder~

if u r protoss~ play 10 games of 4gate everyday after 3 weeks of 4 gates u will b in diamond i ensure u~

Yeah and when you are in diamond, you will see that this strategy will slow down a lot. His aim is to improve, not exactly rush to diamond with a single strat and then start losing a lot in the high tier diamonds.

even ogsMC suggest every protoss to know and master 4gate...
why is 4 gate so important?
it is one of the best protoss builds to practice ur mechanics especially in terms of micro (stalker micro, sentry force fields, organizing units/ spreads, bunker busting etc)...
it would also help u in making decisions on units to warp in depending on the opponent unit composition...
finally for PvP, this is the build which u will always consider (and 100% on some maps like taldarim)...

I never said 4 gate isn't important. But what I am saying is that he needs to also learn that there are other strats out there that can be used rather than just a 4 gate. 4 gate USUALLY revolves around 1 base play which means that he will rarely able to learn how to take expansions, macro up, do harrassing instead of a timing push etc. And wrong, not 100%. LiquidHuK, or rather EGHuK now tends to favor robotics play instead of just 4 gate. Sure, ogsMC has won idra a few times with 4 gates but I am just saying that starting off with 4 gate, the learning curve isn't as steep as learning how to play and understand the general mechanics instead of just micro.

And why I said it will slow down because the upper tier players tend to have better map awareness, mechanics, scouting, unit composition, reacting to your build and others, whereby a 4 gate is usually expected from a protoss player (or DT/VR). What I said was slowing it down, not stopping it. A lot of zergs who went the eco build still loses to a 4 gate, even when they held it off, they sufferred heavy casualties in terms of their larvae. Etc etc.

i think learning via 4 gate has the STEEPEST learning curve. lol

gomtv caster say as long as you master 4 gate and how to block a 4 gate, u can get into code A in 1 month via PvP (rofl)

4 gate is the most stable and usable build in all 3 matchups...
if u wanna start, start with a 4gate...
as u said it urself, it isnt as steep as other protoss builds to learn n pickup 4 gate...

it doesnt require much scouting and it will hold off any possible attack from the opponent till 7-8min...
u cant expect a new player to play macro right off the bat when everytime he expands he die to a timing attack...
or when he tech, he lacks army (1 base colo any1? lol)...

once u get comfortable using defensive 4 gate (u can expand into anything), u will started to do offensive/ pressure 4 gate...
slowly u will cut down the number of gates if u are expanding (2-3 gate FE) or teching (immortals etc)...
as u do so, u start to scout ur opponent better and gained a better idea of timings...
