hello pool lovers!

i work and play pool smile.gif if u need to know anything about pool let me know or PM me, i'll answer to my best ability. not snooker though...

2nd hand table: between 3-4k++ for coin op, 5-7k++ for 9ft (per hour) table.

pool cues: 100-200+ for decal taiwanese cues, 500+ to 2000++ for good quality/branded taiwanese, american etc production cues. 1000+ to (numbers u dun wanna know)++ for custom cues.

if you're seriously looking for a table or a pool cue, PM me.

hope this helps, keep on shooting sharp!!

u talking about the red-spotted/measles cue ball? it costs around RM95.

its proper name is Super Aramith Pro Cup TV cue ball...but thats a mouthful tongue.gif

nice mah, can see all the spin/siding going on - useful for checking your stroke- after using it u dun wanna go back to the plain regular cue ball anymore!

rm95...expected la....in us also it's like USD22 like that...yea...if i have money, might consider of buying it rather than a cue stick...at least it helps my game...
*
not much point buying it unless u got your own table at home. there're a few poolhalls around that use the cueball, like rack and asiacafe (1st floor) in subang and breakers in hartamas (think must ask for it).

better save up some money get a decent cue. then again for a coupla hundred bux, u dun have much choice except those cheap taiwan decals, this is true everywhere u go. its enough to get u started especially if you're a casual/semi casual player, but if u intend to get good at the game, best to get those cues known for their quality, typically starting from 500 onwards.

of cos, if u got natural born talent like efren reyes, then no need good cue la. use broom stick also can! tongue.gif

Asia cafe's tables are decent (1st floor), not too sure about Club7 it's probably slightly inferior. Rack cafe is also decent, nice environment for serious pool.

There's also a new place in Leisure Commerce Square 7th floor where skyventure (i believe) used to be. Well not exactly new, sorta like under new management now. Half snooker, half pool. Big place, tables similar to Asia Cafe's. Nice decor & tables, the F&B there also good. Gonna be the next hangout joint for serious players.

Lastly, there'll be 1 poolhall opening very soon near Sedaya College in Tmn Connaught, Cheras. If it hasnt opened already wink.gif Run by poolplayers, for poolplayers. It's called Corner Pocket, located at a corner shoplot (getit?? haha)

It just keeps on getting better biggrin.gif

1) here are a few:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_spor...cup/2289746.stm

and another of ronnie's 147:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/video/39127000...t_ronnie_vi.ram

2) u can also goto video.google.com and search for pool/snooker. u might get luck.

3) theres a pool hub in DC++, just add "poolandbilliards.dyndns.org". ive never logged in there for some time, so not sure if its still up. its mostly pool, might have some snooker also.

4) lastly, if u're into geeky pool/snooker ball physics, heres an excellent resource, chock full with full & slow mo videos:

wah been missing for some time and now wanna start association?? lol

anyway credit goes to u guys for the spirit...however, pool is really under the MSBF. however as is typical with these kinda associations, there're lotsa red tape happening and alot of pool players feel that they aren't doing enough for the sport. to cut things short, if u wanna form an association/organize tourneys/etc, trust me, its all been done before and are still being done....occasionally lol.

not wanna dampen your spirit or anything...however they're alot more involved with running a tourney than u'd think off your head. alot of tourneys are run at a loss, but if u wanna make even the slightest amount of money, u'd have to charge high entrance fees, and this will definitely turn off alot of players. heck, even finding the minimum number of players to participate is hard enough to justify a tourney.

why do u think they're not alot of tourneys being run? of cos, on the casual levels, u'll see places like asia cafe or breakers having full house on weekends, but thats just about it. pool remains a very social/casual sport here, and if there's any measurable/noticeable growth to it, its only recently that ppl in the scene are starting to 'buck up', so to speak. but still, its better than nothing and it gives a promising picture to the local pool scene. somewhat.

but u know whats my main complaint about the game?

NOT ENOUGH CHICS IN IT!! biggrin.gif

evangalon:

clubs ah...u mean online? sure got if u look hard enough haha. im socalled moderator for poolfanatic.com MY branch, but kinda inactive there. its a SG site, we should at least be like them la...the scene there is so much bigger. and needless to say, alot more chics involved there!

hmm which reminds me, maybe i should login there now to see wats happening lol...

and wat sorta cue u have in mind that is 'concrete'?? lol...famous brands that malaysians always talk about are predator and viking. both are excellent amerincan brands, but there are alot other brands out there. most important, think of your budget first and then i can recommend u one of at least decent quality.

imho, u need to make up your mind which one u wanna take up, pool or snooker. but basicalyl, if u come from a good snooker background, pool shouldnt be a problem but thats stating the obvious. most important is to have the right fundamentals. but if u keep on switching back between pool and snooker, u wont achieve consistency.

im not 'pro'...i play alot, sometimes join competition (not good enough to always join). plus, i dun have high ambitions lol..just play for fun, kill time la. if we ever meet up, feel free to ask any questions smile.gif

saltybean:

u talking about the short plum malay girl ah? shes okla i suppose, but lately shes not working there anymore. there are a handful of other girls who're actively involved but rarely see them around. again, the ratio is like 1:9...still cant fight with foosball!! heck, even snooker has got more girls playing it...

anyway im keen on any sorta gathering. there's also this Malaysian Pool Kaki on frenster...>400 members the last time i checked but nothing going on wan haha.

Actually, there are 2 of these father-son combo around.

Chinese father-son: Mr. Yap and er...boyboy? lol. Always play at AC, ive played him (the son) a few times before including once in a tourney. He's improved alot since that tourney, nowadays always bugging me to play on Saturday nite but usually i cant make it...his father recently bought a Mcdermott from us. The kid is good...if u leave him 4 or 5 balls on the table he can probably clear up half the time lol

Indian father-son: Mr. Anil and er...dunno the boy. I think they're lousier, yeah always play at CP but sometimes see them at Rack. Anil been threatening to take lessons from us but lately been coming up with many excuses. Dunno too much about them though...
