my shop is along jln sungai besi, opposite the volvo swedish marque showroom, right above maybank.

dunno too much about custom cues, cos really, its not the custom for pool players here in malaysia yet (pun intended haha). unlike in singapore, every tom d*** and harry pool player is into custom cues already - whether they can really play or not is a different matter altogether smile.gif just about the only ones who use custom cues here are socalled hardcore players (their skills range from decent to of course, the break n runners). DP cues are beautiful and affordable, however some ppl have complained that Mr. Perry has spoilt his brand image by flooding his cues in ebay. samsara is a legend by itself, they're more like collector's cues rather the ones u'd play with simply because they're just so bloody expensive.

to say that 314 is for lazy ppl is overly generalized. in my opinion, different playing preferences would dictate whether a 314 (or any other low deflection shafts) is suitable for u or not. i know of seasoned players who cant play with a 314 at all, yet there are those who swear by it. personally, i can play with or without 314, have no real preference, but have to admit that u do get more spin out of the 314 which is good for ppl with less than perfect strokes like me.

but one thing is true, which is alot of players are so taken in by predator cues that they think its the answer to their pool skillzzz lol. i think alot of it gotta do with peer pressure and also predator's good marketing, and also the stereotype that using a predator would somehow lift your pool image especially among casual/beginning players who are eager but easily influenced. "wow hes using a predator, must be damn good wan" lol.

snooker cues are just the locally made ones, including some omin clones. will send u to the pix when we open on tuesday (if i remember tongue.gif)

i do agree with wat LKW said about graphite cues, personally i wouldnt recommend it to anyone at all. i think 95% of pool players out there use wood cues, but dun quote me on that...

off the top of my head, here are some pros and cons of graphite cues:

Pros:
- suitable for lazy players or ppl who dun wanna take care of the cue. u can leave it boiling inside your car under the hot sun, the cue will maintain its straightness as it wont warp under extreme temperature changes like wood cues will.
- can have alot of different designs and colors, including the shaft portion (which means the whole piece of the cue can come in different colors). wooden cues only have designs in the butt portion, the shaft is just the plain natural wood. i find that alot of casual/new players like the fancy designs on graphite cues, so if u're this kinda ppl it might suit your taste.
- er thats just about it? hahha

Cons:
- the shaft will tend to get rough really quickly. this means u'll have trouble with stroking the cue stick on your bridge hand as the abrasion will make it feel uncomfortable, and on extreme cases, even cause your skin to peel if u keep at it lol. this doesnt mean that wooden shafts dun get rough - just not as bad. aftermarket shaft cleaners/solutions might help but its only temporary. longer term solution would be to use a glove, or just use powder but obviously this could be messy.
- this is my personal opinion, but i suspect im not alone: if u were to use graphite cues in the company of socalled good and/or knowledgeable players, u'd be seen as a newbie, or plain ignorant. yes, even if u're using a cuetec. dun ask me why, it's probably a stigma associated with graphite cues that u'll have to live with. forget about allison fisher or earl strickland endorsing this cue - they're probably paid alot of money for it or simply too good it doesnt matter wat sorta cue they're using.

so whether its graphite or wooden cues, at the end of the day wat really matters is to get a cue that u feel good about owning AND playing. if u have absolutely no problems with playing with a graphite, by all means get one. just know that u'd be in the minority, and i suppose u'll just have to strut your skills on the table to prove 'em wrong wink.gif

serious fiberglass r man made wood u cant expect any feedbck from it... dun care pool or snooker fiberglass is a big no no wink.gif  read dis website ppl hate graphite n fiberglass cue http://www.azbilliards.com/brianmordt/index.html

and personally lar i play bunch of cues fall in luv with custom cues lately
i really cant get any feel frm d man made wood..... i dunno mayb is because natural wood do hav grain n vains so it shoot acording to its characteristics
im still new into cues anyway try sum bunch of cues n really fiber glass cant do d job.
bt if u jz wan shoot here shoot there y not? icon_rolleyes.gif  bt for 600++ for a bloody cuetech i dun tink is worth........ u can buy a cuetech n fit a predator 314 shaft in it bt it will be costly.....

jz my humble opinion get a wooden shaft u wunt get wrong icon_rolleyes.gif

u cant really get a 314 for cuetec cues. u can only get blanks (partial shafts without the joint) and get a cuemaker to fit the joint for u to the butt. cuetec is one of the few cue brands that there're no readily available 314 shafts available for sale. u can however get cuetec's own low deflection shaft called Vortex or something, but i wouldnt imagine it'd be better than the 314, which is regarded more or less the industry standard.

anyhow i think zhumak is talking about cuetec snooker cues, so 314 isnt relevant la smile.gif
